Two things I forgot.

  1. Make sure you pick up a Wii U Pro controller. It's one of the best ever made and will feel great to your hands if they are used to the 360 controller. Doesn't hurt that it gets over 70 hours per charge.
    2. Keep in mind that the Gamepad can display Wii games (yet requires a separate controller). It also functions as a sensor bar for games that require the pointer. This is a nice bonus for any Wii collection.

No problem at all. Great choices. You will have a lot of fun. Try to round up some easy-going friends, put on SM3DW, and you will be rewarded.

Don't dismiss MH3 if it interests you, either. As long as you put in a little time to come to grips with it, there is a long pay off. Considering the games you own for your 360, I imagine you are comfortable learning complex gameplay mechanics

Sweet! Sold. I will probably with the contoller with Mario 3d and Windwaker. I'll pick up a few more titles in Febuary.

Also the VC games look awesome. Do they have ocarina of time and Majora's mask on the Virtual Console? Also think Metroid and Super Metroid will be a purchase.

I am pumped!

Glad to hear we will have a new Wii U owner.

Unfortunately, there are no N64 games on Wii U VC as of now. Hopefully that will be taken care of by year's end.

If you only play at home I'd say Wii U because all the obvious reasons.

TBH I like my 3DS marginally more than my Wii U although really both are fantastic. Really hard to go too wrong with either if you ask me. Wind Waker vs A Link Between Worlds? Having played both for the first time and being a pretty big Zelda fan who skipped the Gamecube it's really hard to pick. If I was forced to pick I'd probably lean towards A Link Between Worlds.

I have been spending most of my gaming time between Animal Crossing and indie titles. So the 3DS wins on that pretty easily. Plus the 3DS has streetpass which is really awesome if you live in an area where you can go to fairly crowded shops. The Wii U is also great but mostly for its ability to play games off-TV. So if most of your gaming is going to be near the TV then the Wii U is probably the better option technically.

If Mario Kart and Smash are the things you're interested in then Wii U all the way. Those games will definitely be better on the Wii U.

Get both.

Honestly, I play my Wii U more than my 3DS, but I do really love the 3DS. I couldn't imagine gaming and not owning both of them tbh. Unless you want to game on the go alot, I'd probably say Wii U. Although, I never play my 3DS on the go- it's pretty much a home handheld for me.

Definitely looks like I will own both. I'm going to purchase a Wii U next week and probably in May or June pick up the 3ds.

It is going to be a super fun few months of gaming for me. I have missed a lot of Nintendo greatness. Looking forward to playing past Wii titles and building a solid library of Wii and Wii U games.

I'm a VC junkie. It's probably not healthy, but it feels so good and, well, I'm damn proud of it.

As far as Wii U VC games, get Super Metroid, LOZ: Link to the Past, Contra III, Mega Man X, and Super Castlevania IV. Life ENHANCED.

If you are willing to dip into the murky Wii VC, the treasures are vast. I could rant for pages about all the gems available through that service. So here are my choicest pics (all more or less most easily accessible through the Wii VC):

The Last Blade for Neo Geo is one of my favorite fighting games of all time. It is lean and refined yet bursting with depth and detail. It is as accessible yet strategic as nearly any game from it's genre. It is 90s arcade fighting perfected.

Likewise, Baseball Stars 2 embodies everything from the arcade sports games you remember, but is almost certainly better. Can't think of a baseball game I'd rather play (MVP Baseball 2005 was nice). Grab a pack of Big League Chew and start this download.

M.U.S.H.A., Soldier Blade, Ironclad, and Lords of Thunder are the schmups I'd recommend to anybody and everybody. Throw Zanac in the mix (my daily gaming medicine) and I'd take these and happily move to a deserted island if I had to. (Life Force as well if I could befriend some tribals). (And R-Type, for reasons most obvious.)

I'm pretty sure it has been scientifically proven that one of the best ways to endure the dog days of summer is in an air conditioned room with a big gulp and Zombies Ate my Neighbors. Just try it. Please. Understand.

Devil's Crush should be loaded onto every Wii and is still probably then most enduring version of virtual pinball ever produced. As a bonus, you can make the background music your new theme song to life. Everything around you will be instantaneously and exponentially more totally rad. That's a good thing.

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood is like my favorite lullaby. If I could take any game to fall asleep playing each night, it might be this one. Almost any way you slice it, it's a top 3 Castlevania game too.

Alien Soldier is worth setting aside a few hours each week to attempt to conquer it. You're enormously likely to die well before you ever raise your controller in triumph. But so goes the life of an alien soldier. And it's a true fact that no system is legit until it has pumped out unrelenting, eye-watering Treasure gameplay nonstop for at least 2 hours straight. Daily. For a year.

Beyond what I've listed, Neo Geo has a lot of multiplayer gems. One Metal Slug is a must for every self-respecting gamer, allow me to nominate MS3. Magical Drop 3 is about as much fun as any Vs. puzzle-action game around. Sengoku 3 is one of the VC brawler highlights, no doubt. Spinmaster is like comfort junk food--get a friend together, grab a few drinks, and tear into it whenever you need a quick co-op fix. Ninja Commando serves the same, except in a schmup styling. KOF '98 is another excellent fighting game. Absolutely love the Neo Geo.

Finally, don't know how you feel about RPGs, but Chrono Trigger should be played by all. That's all there is to say about that.

And I'm going to stop myself here. There are far more games than I could hope to cover (Ogre Battle 64 is a strategy-RPG masterpiece), but I stand by all I've listed here. Now get some junk food and start your addiction.

Alright!

Now throw in a little finger wiggle and we can be bros...

So... Can I come over to your place? Please, I'll bring my own controller along with a tin of deluxe mixed nuts.

And I forgot to mention NES Remix. Rapid, bite-sized challenges from many NES classics. I think it should be on every Wii U.

I have done it. I bought the Wii U bundle that came with New Super Mario Bros.
Plus picked up Super Mario 3D and Windwaker.

I'll post my Nintendo ID as soon as my system updates and I can get it all set up.

That will keep you busy for a while! Congrats on your purchase.....If you want two cheap but fun eShop games to play, try Edge and Rush. A bargain at $1.99 a pop.....

I just hopped on the Nintendo train again myself, I won a 3dsxl at a Christmas party and love it and just bought a WiiU today, so stoked. Haven't really been all that excited about Nintendo since the GameCube/GBA days so I have a lot to catch up on.
