Nintendo's games are much more focused on single player and, have everyone in the same room, modes. So it makes sense they don't make a sturdy online component. Problem is this deters third party support. I'm kind of sad Nintendo is not all that excited about online play.

As long as the WiiU is fun, I'll play it no matter what. As for the expectations, mine are not very high...

Thaaaaaanks for noticin' me.

Do you want a shared network like PSN, or seprate shops? Do you want friend codes or usernames? Maybe some 3DS online compatibility? Chat about your Wii U online expectations on this thread.

My expectations of the online service for the Wii U is it's going to suck! It's Nintendo, they never support online like they should.

Last I heard, EA was working with Nintendo on the Wii U's online components, so there's a good chance that it won't completely suck when it comes to being able to play games online. Now, as for whatever online shop system Nintendo will in have place for the console, that's completely up in the air.

I want something that's streamlined, easy to use, and doesn't lag. I don't need some huge social network like xbl; I have a Facebook account.

"Nintendo never supports online like they should."

Can you please elaborate what they "should" do. Because to be honest, I haven't had major issues with online on DS and Wii because frankly, it does it's job. And clearly, you are dismissing the best online games on DS and Wii as well, because if you havn't noticed or come to the realization that it's dependant on the software.

Now then, the Wii's online interface in terms of the home menu, now, that's a disappointment. But the game I've had most enjoyment online is actually Smash Bros. Brawl.

I'm being serious.

MoHH2, Conduit, MHTri, GE007, Excitebots, MKWii and Animal Crossing City Folk are my other favorite online games. Regardless if some had no communication input.

Then again, when I log on Steam, I don't use voice chat and rarely type anything on the games I play (TF2, KillingFloor).

Maybe that's why I'm not gun-ho on the online...

I have a few mixed feelings about Nintendo's new console. I hope with all my heart it will rock, but I can't be too sure. I mean, the online sounds great and all but there is still a lot to be discovered about this. I How much is it, and will the online be free? How much money will they charge for each controller, and how will these expensive looking controllers interact with the game in a positive way? And how are you supposed to use the features exclusively for the controller, when someone else is using the TV? Will there be voice chat? Avatars? Profiles like Xbox Live? Will you see a notification on the side of the screen whenever something happens with your friends? (Like saying "e.g. example is online" or "example invited you to play Ghost Recon Online with him"). Something like that? Loads of questions to be asked, and they are raising quite a lot of attention. I still have high expectations for the console but... Hmm... will it blend?

Will Nintendo figure out how to have worthwhile games consistently released on their consoles?

Will the online be anywhere close to PS3's?

Will it cost 350 or less?

If the answer is yes to all 3, then buy it. The end.

Streamline the friend codes by having the wii u check for a 3DS In the aera thru a spotpass like connection. After thats done the friend code for your 3ds becomes your wii u firend code also. So. I can see from my wii u or 3DS what games my friends are playing. Add in cross game chat and background downloading and you pretty much have a Good online system.

As long as numerous games have enjoyable online modes that my Internet can handle then I'm satisfied.
