I was wondering if anyone knew how the online is going to work for the Wii U. Its 30 days till the US release and we know nothing. I am excited about getting the Wii U but am annoyed that we know nothing about the online. Anyone care to share anything they know or if Nintendo is going to do another Nintendo Direct before the Wii U launches.

As other threads pertaining to this topic will tell you, yes, it is getting very close to launch, yet we still have minimal details.

There's rumours of a WiiU related Nintendo Direct to appear in a week or two. So hopefully we'll get full details by then.

Looking forward to: No More Heroes: Travis Strikes Again

@xBASSxMONSTAx: Source? Online ratings don't count, it could only be a global leaderboard for all we know.

It seems like it will be like the PS3, 360, 3DS, and Wii online games. They've talked about online, why wouldn't they include the features we all want? Leaderboards, Friends, Online Multiplayer, and Accomplishments. The only detail I'm waiting for is MiiVerse.

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

I really don't understand Nintendo's mentality about this sort of thing. Why are they keeping their cards so close to their chests with regards to the online features of the Wii U? It's something that we all want more information about, it's going to be a major deciding factor in some peoples' decisions on whether or not they're going to purchase a Wii U, and the console is now just a month away from launch. Come on, Nintendo.

Maybe they will charge to play online like Xbox but don't want to reveal it yet. I really hope they don't but you never know.

That's entirely possible, seeing as Nintendo themselves did speculate at one point that they might do so. I'd be okay with a paid subscription service if it was like PlayStation Plus, but I will be very unhappy if it's modeled after XBL Gold. That's the biggest turn-off for me on the 360; we shouldn't have to pay a fee to access the online features of games we've already paid good money for.

There could be an online multiplayer. But I doubt it. I'm sure Nintendo would've flaunted that feature. I imagine just Miiverse connectivity and DLC packs for NSMBU.

I really can't fathom them offering BLOPS2 as a launch title w/o some sort of online multiplayer coming along eventually.

If you sign up to play EA games through a Nintendo Wii U console, your Nintendo account information will be provided to EA so that we can establish an Origin Account for you. You need an Origin Account to play EA’s titles online. By signing up to play EA’s titles, you agree that limited user account information can be transferred to EA. Information transferred to EA includes your Mii information, email address, Nintendo Network ID, friend list, country, language and date of birth but does not include credit card number or other financial account information.

I'm sorry, but why would you doubt an online multiplayer option?
The Wii had online, the DS had online (although it sucked), and the 3DS has online. Why would Nintendo suddenly cut online multiplayer? No. We're getting online multiplayer. I'm just guessing that Nintendo hasn't been all over this because it isn't a part of NintendoLand, but it is such a basic feature to game systems today that advertising it would be pointless.

I'm pretty sure they have already stated that NSMBU will be local multiplayer only.

Haha, I love "arguments" like this. Yeah, they should have online multiplayer, not because it'll be a worthwhile and fun mode to play, but because everyone else is doing it! Let's ignore the fact that online multiplayer could utterly freaking suck with a Mario game, due to the fact that its a precision and patience based platformer!

I may not have been clear... I meant that the game should have it simply because everyone is going to whine about it in the future just like they did with New Super Mario Bros. 2. And precision and patience may not mean anything when considering the "Speed Courses" (I forgot the name).
