Actually the Wii U is a Curent Gen console same with the X1 and PS4 when they come out. The 8th Gen. started back in 2011 with the 3DS. So let's end this Next Gen, nonsense shall we?? It is the current Gen, even though the 7th isn't done yet, hell the 6th Gen is still going!!!

By all accounts then, PS4/XB1 aren't next-gen either compared to PC.
We're obviously talking gaming consoles.
Good try though.
Why does that make any difference? Because they put a badge on the box, sell it with a controller and close it off it's somehow magically different? If the Wii U isn't "next gen" enough because of specs then neither are the PS4/XB1. Unless "next gen" is some arbitrary and trivially overcome level of graphical horsepower.
Really I don't see the point of this meaningless definition argument. They are boxes that play the games, without the games they are just boxes. If you must debate what's "next-gen" and what isn't debate about what games are pushing the boundaries not what hardware is.

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"

There's a difference in PC gaming and buying hardware from the big 3. If I'm purchasing a Wii U or PS4 its obviously because I want to purchase and play exclusive games on it.
And as of right now the Wii U is lacking on both games and specs so I dont know where you're going with the last part of ur post.
So like I said, as long as ur enjoying the experience then it really shouldn't matter.
Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

COMPARE. Honestly, I still think X will be better, especially since it isn't linear.
The Wii U is factually next gen in title, and in hardware, just like the Wii.
The Wii was more powerful than the Xbox, GCN, and PS2 of the previous generation in every aspect, including the controls.
The Wii U is more powerful than the Xbox 360, PS3, and the Wii of the previous generation in every aspect, including the controls.
Really, I think Wii U is treading on the ground of progress PS3 aimed to do in 2006, but that time frame was alot shorter than Sony expected. Alot of improvement has happened in 7 years, and there are obviously alot of potential improvements that they overlooked.
Nintendo's systems generally raise the bar by a small amount to qualify as next gen.
Even the Wii was next gen, even if it was only 10% stronger than the Xbox, because any sign of improvement automatically takes it one step further than previous consoles.
It's factually next gen in every aspect. What determines alot of what people consider next generation is features.
Features use the hardware to run. Wii U can skype, Wii U can split screen with the GamePad, it can read high capacity discs, the GamePad can allocate itself and technically create a virtual environment for other devices to communicate with, etc. Those are all features aside from graphic fidelity that give it plenty of advantages.
Aside from that, the GPU is pretty powerful that can probably handle just as many instructions as other next gen systems. The only difference is graphic fidelity. If you define a consoles power by graphics alone, you will be neglecting all those other features.
Current gen, but not in the way you think. Wii U is current gen as in it is the first out of the three for the next generation (Wii U, PS4 Xbone), hence why I say current. So basically, Wii U is "current next-gen" if that makes sense.

Last time I checked I have alot of games for a console that isn't even a year old yet
Imaginary games don't count, remember?
You think COD, Injustice, Tekken 2, etc. are imaginary?
Some of those games came out pretty recently. Nintendo basically has no choice but to wait until last gen is completely over, and next gen has started for the other consoles.
We're getting COD: Ghosts for Wii U. Sadly, that, Watch_Dogs, and AC4 will be the only confirmed multiplat games on Wii U thus far. That can change, BTW. It's gonna be interesting to see the differences between them though.
Once Wii U gets it's 1st party games and consumers know what kind of quality they should expect from Wii U games, I think 3rd parties will release more games for it.
EDIT: If anything, gamers should be wanting 3rd party games the most on Wii U. That's one more platform that 3rd parties can gain revenue from.
They(3rd parties) are developing next gen games for PS4 and Xbox One. If they port the games to Wii U, they just made a ton more money on a system they didn't even really invest that much into developmentally.
EDIT2: Also add that Sony is requiring remote play to interact with the Vita(which the GamePad does), and Nintendo basically has a game minus some visuals ready to be ported in almost no time.
Ashes Cricket 2013 releases 21 June in Europe so it's good we're getting the better sport game that actually matters... EA and crappy American sport games can sod off

I'm thinking about picking up that game from my local EB when it comes out. I loved the cricket games on the PS1 from the late-90's, but haven't touched a single one since. Also, isn't that new Aussie Rules game coming to the Wii U?

Wii Cricket 2009 was a bloody great game with good use of wiimote batting and bowling... The only AFL game I can google is the old Wii one mate so I'm not sure on that
Wii U is a eight generation console in terms of the time it has been released in. This is also the official way to look at different console generations. However it is true that has more in common, in terms of the actual hardware, with the past-generation of consoles. For me, personally, it is not a interesting question.
I still think that every generation and console that has passed since the Dreamcast only have added sugar on already beautiful content and, honestly, i think X, Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U looks better then most content i have seen for Playstation 4 and (especially) Xbox One so far. Hardware is not everything, it also takes talented people to make beautiful games.
It's just a way of taking a quick jab at Nintendo. They can't say "X1/PS4 has better games", so they overemphasize the fact that their hardware is slightly stronger.
