Trine 2 is a straight ahead puzzle game. There is the occasional fight and it's really made for 3 players so you can each be one, but its nothing like any of the Gauntlet games. We've played it a few times but honeslty we rarely go back to it.
If you want a good Gauntlet type game for just 2 kids to play, Skylanders. I know that sounds ridiculous on the surface but the layout and storyline are esimilar. Again, I'm tlaking kids, 5-12 would be about right. I prefer Giants over either of the other 2 but the swap aspect of Swap force is cool if you are willing to cough up the big bucks. We have about 35. Most sores sell Swapforce for about $35 now. I honestly can't think of anything else along the lines of Gauntlet on a Nintendo console. PS3 on PSN has Dungeon Hunter: Alliance for $15 for 3 or 4 people. Much better than Dark Kingdoms which was pretty horrible.
Someday we'll find it
The rainbow connection
The lovers, the dreamers and me
I think the closest you're gonna get to Gauntlet is to download Dungeon Explorer on the Wii Virtual Console under Wii mode. It's for the Turbo-Grafx 16 and it's only $6.
