I'd love to see the amount of cups expand from 8 to 10 (one new cup and one retro cup). They should be able to do it since they have 2 teams making the game and courses now instead of just one.

Twelve racers at a time instead of just eight like in MKW would be nice. The extra four added some extra chaos that I just downright loved.

Alternate costumes, and bowser Jr. could have the koopalings as alternate costumes. :3

With NSMBU and their new Super Acorn power up, there could be at least a new cup called the Acorn Cup.

And have people complain "OMG TOO MANY BLUE SHELLS!!11!1!"? No thanks.
Although 10 racers might be just the right number.

I liked 12 >.>. But just have Ninty tone down the blue shells, and make it impossible to get one with less than 4 people playing.

Well... I'm fine with 12 racers as well; like WingedFish said, it allows for more chaos.
I'm just tired of people complaining about the Blue Shell in general, There's a reason it's there y'know...

I actually remember setting the items to aggressive in MKW (I always played alone btw) and would just stay in the middle most of the race until the end when I would get a golden mushroom or something then zoom to the finish. I gotta say it very satisfying watching the AI get hit with blue shells over and over while I just hung back to enjoy the carnage.

But yes, if the blue shell frequency was toned down, it would be a lot better.

Thats why we need a CIWS item, it's only purpose is to defend against blue shells.

That's a fair point. We've been able to play as a few Mario enemies now, Koopa Troopa, Shy Guy, Wiggler, Lakitu; so why not? Goomba would need a unique visual feature though, like how Racer Lakitu's shell is red while Flag Lakitu's is green (Goombario's blue hat comes to mind). Hammer Bro as a racer would be cool too.

What about the boomerang flower as a new item? You have it for a certain amount of time, and it hits multiple people at a time, then comes back to you?

Yeah.. I like that idea, A nice way to throw some Super Mario 3D Land in it.
Limited time with the Boomerang flower sounds too powerful, I think a one use would be best, like the giant Bowser shell from Double Dash.
Should be easily breakable by bananas, shells, walls and stuff.

Also, the more I think about a playable Goomba, the more sense it makes.
It is about time Mario's classic enemy gets a turn.
If I see that Goomba really is playable, this game becomes more then just an instant want.

The Super Acorn from New Super Mario Bros. U will give your car the ability to float above all others for a limited amount of time, avoiding all hazards on the road and no items can hit you, except for the blue shell and lightning.
