Alot of those games could technically be on Wii U, though. It's all Nintendo's fault that Wii U is not getting all the 3rd party games.

They don't even know how to use Wii U's hardware. Maybe once they do, they release more games.

Yes they do and it is because there is NO REASON to get mature games on Nintendo hardware because it is not cutting edge. It's a mid-gen system, and that is not good.

They don't know how to use Wii U's hardware. If they did, they wouldn't be porting 7th gen games. High specs doesn't automatically get you 3rd party games.

High powered hardware makes it dead easy to port software across, with minimal effort.

PowerPC and ×86 are different architectures, though. Even if Wii U had more RAM, CPU cores, etc, it wouldn't change that it is still PowerPC,

Not a problem for IBM already a problem they have solved. Nintendo could have that if they paid for it.

I wonder what IBM's plan is cannot imagine it is very good for them to lose the volume from Sony/MS.

The real winner seems to be AMD who is getting something from every single current console.

Well, I think it's a good thing that Wii U went IBM AND AMD. It means they found 2 parts from those 2 companies that match.

But there is a clear distinction between retail games and indie games. Retail games do tend to be much larger in scope/more ambitious. All of those (aside from Pure Chess), are 2D which can be a limiting factor.

There's was a clear distinction but that's a fairly recent thing and even that distinction is fairly rapidly eroding. Ten years ago Child of Light would have not only been a retail title but it would have been a fairly decent one. Even five years ago Child of Light would have been a retail title. However twenty years ago even something as simple as Dr Luigi would have been a full retail title.

Now it's an "indie" title and so somehow doesn't count? For a while there the bottom of the industry fell out. Then downloadable games became a thing and the middle was missing. Now the middle is back and the only difference is that there is a point at which games are too small to be sold on disks. Eventually some large AAA games will be download only, what will be the "clear distinction" then?

Anyways, topic is another pathetic attempt at troll. Fails miserably. Find something better to do with your time on the forums if there is such a thing.

@SCAR392, you do know that having more games when you have been over one year longer in the market is nothing to be proud of..... it'll be pretty pathetic if PS4/Xbone had beaten Wii U on number of games in only 6 months in the market

Embarrassing or what?

I'm so embarrased!

Time to burn my Wii U and pledge a loyalty oath to Sony and Microsoft because some troll randomly cherry picked a month in the future where he found the greatest disparity in releases across consoles to support his anti-Nintendo crusade.

Wow, thanks for telling me that in October 2014 there are a much larger number of releases slated for PS4...I was under the impression that Nintendo is awesome and Sony is garbage, but your cherry picked month with no regard to inevitable delays (wasn't Drive Club supposed to be a launch title?) has convinced me to throw down my arms and change sides.

Since I am so embarrassed and I'm only allowed to like one console manufacturer, right?

Console warriors, lift up your can of mountain dew, put down the doritos, and shoo your mom out of the basement, memoryman3 shall lead us from our darkness to victory!

First off, can we please stop comparing the GameCube and Wii U like it actually means something? It doesn't. There's literally no comparison between the two that would make the library line-ups even remotely matter. They are both great systems in their own rights for their own reasons and pretending like passing or not passing the Gamecube in one form or another doesn't validate or invalidate either system.

Second off, they've both had a pretty awesome library, thus far, but GameCube's was awesome in the varied sense. There's a surprisingly low amount that actually appeals to any one person. The Wii U, on the other hand, while very good for a small amount of people is still absolutely brimming with quality titles, despite the lack of software coming to the system as of late. All I think I need to say is 3D World is possibly my favorite Mario game of all time, MK8 is looking to be the best Mario Kart to date, and Smash 4 seems to be very carefully treading a line between what competitive fans and pseudo-casual fans of the series love about their respective favorite titles. Heck, I even have to admit that New Super Mario Bros U is the freshest in a series that was stale from the start and that Nintendoland seems to be the kind that my friends refuse to let me forget that I have. Whenever they get tired of playing whatever game I brought them over to try out, they almost always seem to default to "can we just play Nintendoland, instead?" Not to mention Tropical Freeze is an absolute masterpiece of a 2D platformer and even Rayman Legends is a delight to pick back up from time to time.

Heck, I've already got more Wii U physical discs than I ever did of GameCube titles. All I need to know is that I've greatly enjoyed every Nintendo console I've ever had. And that'll probably continue to be the case for a long, long time.

On that note, OP, you are seriously kidding yourself if you think anyone here really cares about all these ALREADY WELL-KNOWN statistics. I got my Wii U for NSMBU, Nintendoland, Pikmin 3, the inevitable Smash title, the inevitable Mario Kart, the inevitable Zelda title, and the hopes of a new DKCR. I've quite literally gotten confirmation for absolutely everything I wanted out of this system and now I'm going to sit back and laugh while people complain about the lack of titles when they really don't even have to look too hard to find plenty to play.

Skies Of Arcadia Legend was dope and one of my favorite games on the Gamecube,

Of course it was a Dreamcast port, but a lot of stellar Gamecube games were Dreamcast ports which is why I loved the console so much,

Honestly, the way you just keep throwing stuff at the wall and seem impervious to learning anything from these experiences...I don't know if you are doing an elaborate routine for the sake of self-amusement, or if you are genuinely this desperate console war commando convinced that you will lead us savage Nintendrones into the light.

Whatever your deal is, it's definitely generating clicks for this site...and it keeps me on the forums more frequently as I find it a silly good time!

Baten Kaitos was a really cool Gamecube RPG series, and I heard somewhere that the creative minds behind it went on to join or form Monolithsoft, who would then create Xenoblade Chronicles and eventually the much anticipated X.

What's going on in here? A memoryman thread with 3 pages? Why are so many people actually giving him attention? Is there something in this thread actually worth reading?

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

Nope. In fact, I didn't read more than half a page.

The more attention these threads get the more opportunities I have to spam everyone with music. So I'm happy.

Good musical choices. I never saw that Avalanches vid before, but always loved the song. Now I love the song a little more.

The problem the Wii U has I compared to the Gamecube is not quantity, though the lack of third-party support exacerbates that issue, it's that Nintendo's own output isn't comparatively as good. Too many mini game compilations and platformers, not enough Luigis Mansion/Wave Race/Eternal darkness. Hopefully that's something Nintendo can remedy. Fixing their own output is probably more achievable than fixing the lack of third-party support.

Nintendo's output is loads easier which means it lasts less time however.

The 3rd party situation as well could be fixed but would just need the right person doing what Reggies predecessor did. (With the power to make deals).
