@MadAussieBloke Try being positive, friend!

@Treverend I can only say it was down to bad luck, unless you're accidentally breaking your consoles without noticing (your 5 360s make me suspicious).

Try to handle them with care and keep them upright in elevated, open places. Don't let dust get into them and keep them cool and ventilated.

It's not that uncommon at all, I have a plethora of friends who had the same bad luck with the Xbox 360, especially for the people who had it since 2006. My 360 is at a different house at my dads. At one time the 360 had a 30% failure rating, had 3 fail from the RRoD and 1 from the disc drive not reading discs anymore. Still have my same Wii and same PS3 though... so how do you explain that? I'm obviously not mistreating my things, I take care of them all like babies. xD

The only time my Wii U has given me trouble is being ''stuck'' when it's on a loading screen. It doesn't happen often, thank God. I think that problem will be fixed with the spring update.

Come on now, guys, if you're going to reply to this thread, please try to be helpful.

@Treverend: I've renamed this thread so that you can use it every time you have a question or a worry about your Wii U instead of creating thread after thread after thread to do so. There's not much I can say that will be helpful except to contact Nintendo, make sure to update your Wii U to the latest software release, and hope that things go well since you've had such terrible luck with your Wii Us so far.

I would suggest, though, that if you wind up with another replacement Wii U and it still doesn't work right, that with so many other people around who haven't had such extreme problems with theirs, perhaps the environment in your home is partially to blame? maybe other people can share what their Wii U setups look like so that you can model your own after theirs? after all, one person's 'babying' is another person's 'oh my god what are you dooooooing D: D: D:' :3

I think so, if that video is anything to go by. After all, I can't see the Wii U freezing if loading times are only around eight seconds. ;)

Regarding what the black dragon said about set-up....Heres mine...Black glass and chrome tv stand....Sammy 32 lcd on top...Wii U on next shelf down ( on its own )....below that on bottom shelf is Sky hd box and my ps3 next to it. There are no hi fi speakers or anything magnetic nearby. Just video equipment. Cables are ( reasonably ) tidy. Runs through belkin surge all of it. No issues

@JogurtTheYogurt: It's nothing personal — when I cleaned out the unhelpful replies, yours and others' that were in reply or discussing them had to go as well.

If we could get back to the topic at hand, I'm sure Treverend would appreciate it. :3

What if you contact Nintendo...?

There's a reason they have the best customer support among the big three...and Apple and everything else, actually.

Disney reviews written by Neil Sharpson, voiced by Erik Copper and edited by me on my channel! They're hilarious, I can promise you that.

I have had a few freezes still, but the problem is I'm not sure if it is the fault of the WiiU itself, or the games. It's only happened with Assassins Creed 3, NFS Most Wanted, and Lego City Undercover. Each happened only twice, so not enough for me to worry.

And just so you know, while it does kind of suck that the power button doesn't shut off the console is because when it freezes, the entire console freezes so it isn't able to even understand you're pressing the power button. It is a 'soft' button, in that it tells the programming to enter shut down mode. Unplugging the console is the same as if it had a 'hard' button, which would just cut the power... old systems like the N64 and SNES had this. It's an unavoidable problem that some freezes can make the WiiU power button useless. 'Tis the nature of the beast.

I dont know it could be like TBD said your enviroment. I have never had a Xbox 360 Red Ring on me and have only had the Wii U freeze up four times on me. Once it froze with FIFA and the other three times was that Sonic racing game but that was a rental from GameFly so I sent it back saying it wouldn't work since at that time every other Wii U game worked fine.

Also a few of my friends had their Xbox's red ring on them but they played them for hours on end without breaks we are talking like 8 hours minimum where as I maybe play mine for 2 two hour intervals. I am not picking on you but could it be how long you play on it before giving it a rest? Do you have any siblings that are messing with it that you dont know they are? Honestly I have only heard you having as much problems with it freezing I mean yeah I have heard of the freezing issue but not to the degree you are experiencing.

Fixing RROD permanently was easy anyways. It just made more sense to send them in at the time if the console was under warranty.
Try optimizing your internet, make sure your TV settings are perfect, etc... Some of the freezes are impossible to avoid sometimes, but you shouldn't be so mad at your Wii U that you give up.
I've had 4 different situations where I've had mine freeze:
1. Nintendo Land(happened once before the update and fixed it myself by running all the apps)
2. Lego City(happened once while using a boat)
3. Sonic All Stars Racing(happens when plaing online sometimes. software problem)
4. Runner 2(froze when returning to Wii U menu and hasn't been doing it lately. software problem)
I'm not gonna say freezing hasn't happened to me, but it's been far and few between for me overall.

For all you saying it because of my environment, I live in Wisconsin. Dunno how that would effect my Wii U at all. And oh, here is my setup. It's on a open top desk, nothing in the way to prevent ventilation.

Untitled
Oh, also, it looks closer to the wall in that pic that in really is. There is about 4 inches from the wall on it's side and a good amount of room behind it. And I moved the Wii remote holder closer to the TV and farther away from the Wii U.

My new Wii U isn't freezing nearly as much as my old one. The two freezes yesterday only make the total like 3. And those 2 happened in the same spot, while trying to update my Nintendo TVii stuff like my provider and all that good stuff. I think the pages just didn't load right or something. Even though my new Wii U only did it like 3 times it still pisses me off cause I sent my old one in to FIX that problem...

Internet speed, provider, settings, etc? Try setting you router back to factory settings, and ONLY updating the firmware. Port forwarding and changing other settings like that actually causes more problems than it solves, from my experience. That's all the advice I can think of.

Don't know if internet speed really makes a difference. Mine at my moms is slow, REALLY slow. But I also heard people with fast internet having these problems. And I brought my old Wii U to my dads (he has blazing fast internet) and it froze while my brother was trying to play Call of Duty.

Looks ok to me in the picture. One thing id try though , is putting Wii U flat instead of on its side. Probably wont make any difference but uv nothing to lose by trying it that way for a few days.....
