I'm on my second Wii U, sent my first one in for freezing like crazy. They sent me a brand new Wii U back with a different serial number. Now this one is STILL freezing. Went to see the Nintendo TVii update and it froze twice within like 20 minutes and I cringe everytime I have to unplug my console from the power. Nintendo... the LEAST you could do is make it so we can shut off our frozen consoles by holding the button in like any other electronic device. GAH! What happened with talks of the supposed update to fix this a month or two back? Just seemed to disappear. I love Nintendo, but that is one thing they seriously suck at. They aren't good at all about keeping us informed or up to date. This freezing is BS, address it Nintendo, quit acting like it's not a problem. I thought the problems were finished until today. :P Haven't had a freeze in well over a month. (Have also been too afraid to play it because of the problem :P)

I knew you were going to reply. Just stop. :P This is seriously making me mad, makes me wanna just sell the thing if it can't do what it was made to do. It's been long enough and I'm on my 2nd console. And I don't believe you... I seen it allover the internet about freezing Wii U's and there is NO reason two different ones would freeze just on me. I don't do anything wrong with my electronics, I take good care of them, it has enough open room too so it's not like it's too hot or anything, I don't understand.

My WiiU has no real issues. It's frozen a couple of times, but most of that comes from RUNNER2, which is a bug with that game and not the console. I feel like you just have some bad luck or something.

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by shutting off frozen consoles by holding the button in. Maybe phones do this? But as far as I know not a single disc based console powers down if it's truly frozen. My 360, original XBOX, Gamecube, Wii, and my boyfriends PS2 all have to be unplugged when they freeze.

The best strategy in the game: go up stairs and pause balls.

Well what am I supposed to do? Send it in again? This is getting crazy. If it turns out like the Red Ring of Death issue like the Xbox 360 had then I'm done. (On my 5th 360, all free covered by warrany but still major BS) I have another friend who went through 7 Xbox 360's, no joke. He just moved to PS3.

I've only had my one 360 Elite. I've never had to replace a console, save for my Gamecube which was preowned. I seriously think you just have bad luck, dude. Not sure there's anything you can do about it.

I'm hoping the April patch fixes this issue, if they don't acknowledge it then, I don't think they are.

I don't know what to say. I haven't had any super bad freezes or anything either. Did you make sure your internet is all good?
That was the main variable that affected Wii U freezes in the first place, with the other being software issues.
There has to be something you can do to fix this.

Did you (really) download and install ALL the current updates for the system? I had freezes starting up Nintendoland (2x) and somewhen while moving within the menu (also about 2x), but after the last "stability"-update i never had any sort of problems.
Hope it works out well for you!

My Wii U has only crashed once and that was when I was playing Sonic All Star Racing Transformed. I feel bad for you but I'm happy with my Wii U.

I would wait for the next couple of updates before sending the next one back.

Out of the 8 retail disc games I've got, FIFA and Sonic are the worst offenders. I can make my Wii U crash on cue with either game. Fifa just needs to be left at title screen and will freeze and need unplugging, my Sonic will not play 3 player with 3 different controllers without crashing my U. AC3 crashed twice, black ops 2 crashed twice (when playing unpatched versions after patch released). Nintendoland, NSMBU, Batman, Tekken, VC or eshop games have never crashed on me.

If I had bought a Wii U for Fifa and Sonic it would be totally unacceptable and I would have replaced the console but I am pretty sure it's just software issues for me and that will sort itself out over time. It is a disgrace though. I think my Wii U has crashed more times than my Wii, GC, N64, SNES and NES put together.

I only posted this to get my avatar as the forum's thumbnail.

FIFA is the worst offender - and I think only offender for me. Never had a problem with Sonic. I know if I leave the FIFA disc in while the machine is turned off, and then go to start it up again, it will regularly crash. Even so, I've put a fair number of hours in and its a minor niggle. I've bought FIFA on and off for years now, and generally it's always been that way so I guess I expect it.

I've got Nintendo Land to crash a few times, from some sort of error before an update came. Scribblenauts is one of the easier games to crash, whether on the DS, iOS, PC or Wii U, its not too hard to get to a crash. In Scribblenauts 1, I crashed the game in the shop, things went different colors, and my DS was frozen only in the first hour starting it up..
Another game that crashed was Wii Street U. I go, pretend to travel from my house on fast forward, and in the first minute of "Driving" it froze.

The Wii turns off if you hold down the power button for 5 seconds if its freezes up. I don't know about the newer models but the initial PS2 always has to be shut down with switch at the back so that works if its frozen and PS3 also turns off while it's frozen if you hold down the power button for 3 seconds.

Currently playing: Sacred Gold, Valkria Chronicles, Rune Factory 4, 007 Blood Stone, and Uncharted 3.

Until a few days ago, my Wii-U only froze once, and that was while playing Zombi-U on the first day the system came out.

Since this past weekend, it has probably frozen on me four or five times. Twice while in the middle of playing Lego City (system buzzed and had to be unplugged) and also on the main menu screen (no buzz) and after clicking on the blinking notification button (just stuck on the loading screen for several minutes).

I will keep better track of when and how to freezes (if it continues to do so) and maybe I will have to contact Nintendo if it gets worse.

Whenever you need to unplug it, remember when you plug it out, plug it out for 10 seconds, and then put it back in. Otherwise, you could brick your Wii U.
