Topic: Wii U Is Constantly Freezing

I've only had 2, unless I count Sonic Racing Transformed while playing with my brother and cousin online. It works playing by myself online. I'm pretty sure the freezes are software related most of the time. Defects happen rarely, and the only software I've had problems with are Sonic. I'm gonna contact Sega and tell them to strengthen the 2 or more local players online... I know that ones software related as a fact, and it made the 'buzzing' noise like other freezes, so firmware and software are for sure the problem from my experience.

i do not yet own a WiiU. my comments were regarding the idea of having to 'break in' a system by running the aps. also the idea that nintendo has been singled out for anger due to problems with a console.

Wait, hang on. You don't own a WiiU but you are commenting in a thread about freezing issues on the WiiU?

...

I'm not trying to be mean, but can you see that maybe that's a bit puzzling and slightly annoying for those of us who actually do own the console and are trying to help the OP?

we are not allowed to read/post to threads because you might become annoyed? i wasn't snarky, i wasn't a smarta$$...i just had never heard that consoles or any other system needed 'breaking in'.

tell you what: i won't tell you where you can post and you don't tell me, ok? the site works just fine without our worrying about policing each other, imho.

I was able to fix my freezing issues BEFORE any of the updates by running every application available at least once.

I guess I expected people to not be so surprised if some mishaps happen, even after PS3/Xbox 360. They STILL happen occasionally on those consoles. This is how technology is. It's no doubt getting better, but things take time if they are new like Wii U regardless. I'm prett sure there's at least 2 problems that iPhone in general has each year.
I think why alot of people get pissed off, is because they ask a question, and get an answer they thought already but wanted a different answer.

I have had a PS3 for almost 4 years, and the Wii for 6+ years now. No freezing issues on either of those. The Wii U has freezing issues, not related to operator problems. It's technology problems, and the fact Nintendo released the Wii U without the power button functioning properly when the console freezes is crazy enough. The majority of the blame (if not all) is on Nintendo for their product not functioning properly, not the few consumers that may have had some oddity happen while updating.

I've had my PS3 freeze multiple times in one day, and two times when I hooked it up for the first time. I got the slim model when it came out years ago, and it freezes at least 2 times a month to this day. I guess all the companies just suck when it comes to consoles freezing...

Still though, I ran all the apps at least once, and it stopped the freezing. Interenet obviously plays a part in some cases, because that's how Nintendo Land was freezing. I make sure all my gadgets are hooked up, and optimized so I don't have to watch my console freeze.

@k8sMum

Thank you for the expected overreaction. Please reread my post you conveniently quoted. Not once did I ask you to not post or read this thread.

Thank you.

@rallydefault

please reread your post, then my response. it's right there. all the words.

why did you expect an overreaction? actually, you must be disappointed in that case. you seem to read much more into my posts than i do yours.

you're welcome.

deffinitely not what a prospective buyer like myself wants to hear...... first generation that Nintendo Hardware is faulty.... not good...

however i do remember when my gamecube used to crash on very rare occasions when crappy 3rd party games were being played on it - and i would hiss and say, "f*cking 3rd party garbage".

so maybe its certain software.
dunnoo... still its pretty crappy seeing as though you have to pull the plug yet probably wondering at the same time if doing that will brick the system.

At the end of the day it just makes you feel less reliable about the product by the sounds of it.. somethign that i have never felt about a nintendo system before.

Xbox's and ps3 you have to babysit and pray that it dosnt die. Never had to do that with a nintendo product.... this is terrible news.

New console, new problems. Same goes for any piece of technology. It's 100% for sure the soft/firmware.
I contacted Sega about Sonic Racing freezing online with other local players, and other various bugs in the game. They said they've been hearing about these issues from alot of players, and are working on fixing it.

I must have the only faultless WiiU in existence... It might fetch a pretty penny on ebay one day

The Nintendo Funding Bill is passed. The system goes on-line November, 2012. Human decisions are removed from strategic defense. Nintendo begins to learn at a geometric rate. It becomes self-aware at 2:14 a.m. Eastern time, December 29th. In a panic, they try to pull the plug.

Perhaps it was just a run of bad luck on my part. The last couple of days I've had no problems (aside from Hulu giving me crap about 50% of the time). Went out and purchased Batman Arkham City Armored Edition yesterday and have put about 3-4 hours into it so far with no troubles. Going to give some Wii games a try here in a bit (I've yet to beat Pikmin 2 anyways) and see how that goes.

I have the freezing issue and cannot get past it.
The Mii selector comes up when I start the console. As soon as I choose a Mii, it locks up.
TV screen is frozen, handheld is unusable. Buzzing coming from the tv speakers.
Hard boot is the only way to do anything. eject does work??
After hard boot, the Mii selector comes up, I created a new Mii on the handheld, when complete, frozen again.

HEEELELLLPPPPP!!!!!
