And this

Why can't Nintendo make an advertisement for Wii U with something like that? I recently saw Nintendo's latest Wii U advertisements, and I am just dissapointed. I know Nintendo is trying to sell to kids, but most kids want to play Xbox or Playstation. Nintendo needs to tell people that they aren't just Mario and Wii Sports. Jennette McCurdy and other Disney Stars will not sell a console.

Is money an issue? What was Nintendo thinking?

Heh, because none of these parents would like kids to be playing a game that has blood, guns and a boring race car.

Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.

Nintendo is selling to families. Not pre-teens and up.
I found that last generation, Microsoft and Sony made hardcore products and commercials first, and welcomed families and kids later (Near 2010). Microsoft's last few games for 360 were mostly Kinect titles, and Sony had this big campaign for Move and Wonderbook back in E3 2012. Nintendo somewhat went backwards. In 2010, they made Galaxy 2, a very massive and difficult Mario game, Donkey Kong Country's revival, the hidden gam Sin and Punishment and the follow-up to Super Metroid. And after that, they made Skyward Sword and Xenoblade. That's not to say they didn't make lighthearted titles like Pokepark, but they did make plenty of hardcore games in the Wii's last years.
So, sooner or later, more hardcore games will show up, and possibly afflict with advertising.
After all, Nintendo does alot of advertising online, where most gamers set their time on.

Nintendo's Marketing campaign has little to none where it should be full force. I had an idea of a new Marketing campaign labeled "Unique" (playing off the U). Il post the full article later but here is some pic ideas of what i was thinking.

I like that idea. I was kind of wondering why they don't bring back those Who Are You type ads they used to do. (Back then I thought they were kind of cool and annoying at the same time, now they seem like a good idea. after all Who are U?? (With a little More Human then Human playing)

I honestly have no idea, but these serve as making sure you know while the Wii U isnt technically superior, the games it provides are in a league of their own and all provide something unique not found on the other consoles.

I think one of the reasons why Nintendo hasn't made such strides in terms of advertising like Sony and Microsoft is because they don't have the content to push such marketing as Sony and Microsoft have been doing. Yes, they all show off their 1st-party products, but much of what Sony and Microsoft market revolves around the 3rd-party content, something Nintendo has been losing. You look at these commercials, and you can see how much they are pushing that 3rd-party content. Had it been just 1st/2nd-party, there would not be much to show.

I hate to bring this stuff up again, but very few companies have enticed anyone to purchase 3rd-party games on Nintendo's systems. Delays, reduced content, and even sabotaging their own releases. They go where the power is, and Nintendo hasn't had it for quite a bit. Even when Nintendo was attempting to join in the power race a couple generations ago, Nintendo still couldn't manage to get enough support. All this has led people to think of Nintendo in one way or another as being the "side" console, or the complimentary console, not a primary.

Maybe that's Nintendo's intention now. As it is, the main reason to purchase a Nintendo system is for Nintendo games. Has been since they joined the world of video game development, and still is today. This also shows in their financial statements. We've seen from financial reports that Nintendo has made some shiny coins while the "competition" continues to fall further into the red in their video game departments. Call me delusional, but I'm beginning to think that Nintendo is simply "waiting it out" while the other two dig their own graves, so when those two do kick the bucket, 3rd-party developers will have no choice but to come back to Nintendo again.

As "exciting" as those commercials are, the actual quality of those games that have been released have not shown much promise, at least based on reviews for them. So, you can hate me for saying this, but those commercials imo are simply for false-hype and eye-candy, and not really about whether those games are good. Some may, but so far, many of the released ones have demonstrated otherwise.

Yeah, whenever you see a BROBOX STALESTATION advertisement all they do is show about 5% gameplay and 95% cutscenes... Then again, that sums up their games perfectly

Like the one Wavey just posted, Nintendo's 3DS commercials have been awesome and I would say they are in a very similar vein to those PS4/Xbox ones (though obviously more Nintendoey), in the sense that they're big-budget, live-action mixed with fantasy/CGI. I think these are some of the best ads Nintendo have ever produced (so much better than all the bland, sterile, aspirational stuff they were putting out last gen, which they seem to be slightly going back to with the Wii U ads, but thankfully in a more fun, whimsical way)

I guess at the moment with Wii U, they're trying to recapture the very family-multiplayer oriented Wii approach, which I suppose is understandable, but if we get more of these I for one wouldn't complain.

Because they don't pander to the same demographics, obviously.

Wii U commercials can be better, definitely, but it seems like you're asking for a simple "me too" advert campaign that just seems a lot more like fluff, than promoting what the Wii U actually does.

PlayStation 4 can say that they have the most powerful system, with a lot of developers on board (both big and small) with many great games to come.

Xbox One can state its intention of taking over the living room space, offering more than just games, but a complete entertainment experience altogether.

Wii U can say that their aim is to provide games that can bring various amounts of people together, no matter their relation, race or gender, and through the versatility of the GamePad, you can have experiences that only Nintendo can provide.

That's where you're wrong because I have played call of duty all the gore games and the marjority of players are little kids whose parents really don't care.

I also have the same feeling. Sure things look great now for the Xbone/PS4, but who really knows in the long run? I've said this before, but I can't help but wonder if the industry is heading straight for another crash, in which case Nintendo would still come out of in good shape just like the first time. Of course as long as all the dudebros are still around nothing is going to change.

You people do realize that Nintendo would most likely be effected the most by any sort of modern day Video game crash right. It won't happen either way since the VG market has become pretty diverse and is more like the film industry is today where its literally too big to fail. With that said Nintendo's main business is the development of Video games meaning they would lose they're only core business if this were to happen. That or the company's size would be reduced as they go to handheld only.

The only one out of the big three who would benefit from a gaming crash would be Microsoft since they've positioned the xbox as more than gaming device and still have the PC gaming Market to fall back on.
