What has everyone been using for a headset? I have been using my Iphone one (works the best in my opinion). Does anyone have Turtle Beach or Triton? How are you liking them? Does anyone think we need official Nintendo ones?

I got the N11 Turtle beaches, but decided tat they weren't worth $50, and I was just paying for Turtle/Nintendo name brand. I returned them and got some skullcandies instead. I wouldn't get an official headset 'til a wireless one comes out with 5.1 surround sound.

Surround sound...in headsets?

Does your Iphone headset have the in-line mic and controls? I have the beats solo hd where the in-line mic and control(single button) works on my 3ds but nothing on my asus android tab, I want to know if it will work on wii u.

I play old and unusually unique games to get away from boring reality.
This makes 95% of games who's main gimmicks are hyper realism ~boring~ to me.

I've no actual idea, but isn't it like each ear piece has a couple speakers so you can have sounds in front or behind you...?

Ya. They have a 7.1 surround sound headset for PS3, that's bluetooth. I don't see why Wii U couldn't have one. No one has seriouslt seen a 7.1 surround sound WIRED headset at least? They have headsets out the a** at Best Buy, even going up to $300 in price for those little s***s

I doubt Nintendo will allow just any bluetooth device to hook up yto the Wii U EVER, but I would use that when I actually want to chat. I just returned a few things at Best Buy and "upgraded" from my PS 3D display bundle to a 39" 1080p 60Hz. It may not sound like much of an upgrade for the features that the PS display has, but 3D is rarely used(if even well at all), the size I got is a WORLD or difference in my room, and the one I got has COAXIAL output, so now my Wii U/other devices all have 5.1 surround sound just by plugging into the TV. I don't have a reciever that has HDMI audio input(supports only video. weird I know, but it was right before they had HDMI full support). I really needed an output audio from my TV, and PS 3D bundle just had inputs, and a headphone jack. I wish I could have gotten a better one(who doesn't?), but I'm not rich, and I don't have a job(returning stuff). IN CONCLUSION, if you can't buy expensive stuff, then go buy a 5.1 surround headset(yes, they are real), and save $500 from buying a reciever/speakers/sub, plus you get a free headset(minus REAL BASS).

I don't have any yet, but I plan on getting the iphone earbuds, as it seems to be the cheapest solution. I'm not spending $200 just to talk while playing online.

I recommend skullcandies. The earpod headphones look cool I guess, but you're paying just for the Apple logo on them pretty much. Skullcandies are $10 less about, unless you want Apple brand ones(doesn't have better quality or features really...), or have an iPhone to go with them. Really up to you, just puting my word in...

I found some apple ear buds online for just a few dollars. I didn't know about skullcandies.

Cool. They might be the older versions, but for a few dollars you can't really go wrong either way. Good find.

I bought the Turtle Beach N11 headset on launch, but the volume/mic control has already broken with light use. So just using some Apple earbuds for now.

I have the Turtle Beach NLa's, and I have to say that had they been any more than £20 I would have returned them. They're nice and light, and work well enough, but the sound quality is just not there. The output on the Gamepad struggles already, but they don't improve things. I'll only use them for in-game chat and stick with my normal headphones when playing solo.

The headsets out right now specifically made for Wii U, definately are lacking right now. Everyone's best bet would to be buying a regular set of headphones w/ a mic for $20 or less. I'm only buying a crazy good headset when wireless 5.1 surround sound ones come out. I would use those EVERYTIME I'm playing alone, even when not chatting. I don't even chat online most of the time... Even if they're priced in the 100s, I would buy them just for a personal surround sound experience, especially if they work for devices besides Wii U.

I expect my Call of Duty Black Ops headset should work? I did get it with the Wii version of the game and it seems to be a standard USB headset with a really long cord. Right now I use it to talk on my office IP phone when I'm working from home. I like the fact that it fits over one ear and is lightweight. Having two USB ports on the front of the Wii U is doing to be pretty handy!
