so my tv does not have a proper hdmi port it instead has a monitorlink dvi port and i have a dvi to hdmi port but when i plug it in i get no sound i get all the hd goodness but no sound...
i was thinking about getting hd component cables for the regular wii but idk if that will be able to make the wii u hd and have sound

btw i tried doing what i did on my xbox(it was hd and had sound) by replacing the xbox cables with the regular wii cables... if that makes sense but still made no sound...

just wondering if there was a way to fix this or if i should buy the hd component cables...

i bought Component for cables for the wii, didnt need to use it for wiiu since it came with an HDMI cable that i had a extra slot for on my hdtv so i could try it out but that would be too obvious lol

but im going to see if i can help you here, have you also tried messing around in the system settings regarding the sound issue, might be something in there that could rectify it

Forgive me for stating the obvious, but HDMI cables carry video and audio. DVI only carries video, so connecting the HDMI out socket on the Wii U into a DVI socket on your monitor will strip it of the audio signal.

You can get cables which convert HDMI into DVI and 3.5mm. I'd suggest getting one of those.
