Topic: Wii U games with no DLC?

I've heard so many people complain about how companies rip off consumers with incomplete games that you need to buy DLC to get a complete experience with. Is Nintendo better with this? What are some Wii U games without DLC, where we got all the content right away?

Regardless of a vocal minority's opinion, each Wii U game that has DLC is a complete experience without the DLC. NSMBU is a complete experience. Mario Kart 8 is a complete experience.

There's a difference between additional content and held back content and even with games that have no DLC you don't get all the content right away asyou have to unlock my progressing in the game.

AFAIK, just about all Nintendo Wii U games, except Pikmin 3 and MK8, have no DLC. The Pikmin 3 DLC is only for those who want to extend the experience, since it isn't related to the main game at all. Hyrule Warriors has DLC but it's a Tecmo Koei game.

DLC and withheld content are two very different things. A lot of the people complaining about DLC are just self entitled. Skyrim was a complete experience without Dawnguard/Dragonborn/Hearthfire. Fire Emblem: Awakening was a complete experience without Infinite Regalia/Rogues & Redeemers/Lost Bloodlines. Mario Kart 8 was a complete experience without the DLC. Counter-Strike: Global Offensive is a complete experience without the Operations (temporary DLC).

My SD Card with the game on it is just as physical as your cartridge with the game on it.
I love Nintendo, that's why I criticize them so harshly.

There's New Super Mario Bros U also has DLC.

And to answer your question, yes Nintendo handles DLC a lot better than most other companies.

DLC is not a bad thing if done right.

The best parts of NSMBU are the Challenges and the NSLU DLC. I would not recommend getting it without NSLU the base game is mediocre at best.

Don't worry, these days developers are taking DLC out of Wii U games. They're not adding the content to the disc, mind you. You just don't have to buy it now.

...except you never had to buy them in the first place...

I don't really consider New Super Luigi U DLC. It got its own physical release, it's as much its own game as NSMBU is. It doesn't really ''add'' content to NSMBU, it provides an entirely new game.

The competition at least offers GOTY editions at a cut price. That is the best thing about the practice.

DLC should be optional, and it shouldn't break the original gameplay.

New costumes, unique vehicles, weapons, and extra add-ons are the right way to handle DLC (someone mentioned Skyrim's DLC, and that's spot on)

Maps that you HAVE to get otherwise you can't play online with friends, withheld content you must buy to get the full experience, half-arsed game with DLC to "fix" glitches and bugs are the WRONG way to handle DLC (I'm looking at you, Activision/Call of Duty).

Super Mario 3D World has no DLC. (Shame cos i'd love more characters + stages!)

That's not what DLC is though. That's like saying you want an orange out of your walnuts.

It can be anything.

If it could be considered an expansion pack then it is ok.

If it is a total rip off wait for the GOTY.

Rockstar does DLC well. Even making it all freestanding (Just buy a little bit of GTAIV if you want like I did - If I had liked it more I would have got the main game and the rest of the DLC).

Well, NSLU is still DLC, though. It's more like asking for a MORE orange juice from you orange. More valuable DLC is what people want. That doesn't change whether it is DLC or not.

I would say Mario Kart 8's DLC is a big deal, too. It's only $12 for 50% more stages, some extra karts, Link, etc.

Or CoD Ghosts. The Extinction mode doesn't even really exist without the DLC. That's beside the point that it probably shouldn't have been DLC in the first place, seeing as the core game is incomplete without it.
