Topic: Wii U Gamepad won't turn on after all methods used

During May 30th, the day MK8 was released and so I ordered the MK8 Deluxe Bundle from Gamestop. While getting my free game at Club Nintendo, I started to play it. I was going to leave for the night until some message appeared on my gamepad which was about the connection from gamepad to console being unstable I guess. The next morning was where I tested out some methods, but it didn't work. Another method was where first, I try to put in and out of the battery after 10 seconds, it won't work. Then I try to charge it and when I turned it on, it won't work too. What should I do?

Edit: I left the gamepad to charge for a while and I started to turn it on when it was finished. Still won't work.

Sorry bud. You may have to send it to Nintendo to get it fixed. Really sucks that you got it like that. :/

All I could think of otherwise is to plug out your Wii U for a couple minutes, plug it back in and then press the red sync buttons on the back of the gamepad and the one on the front of the Wii U.

Try this. http://en-americas-support.nintendo.com/app/answers/detail/a_...

Follow the steps they give you and answer the questions if necessary. Hopefully this works.

EDIT: So, when you press the power button on your Gamepad, does your Wii U turn on?

You may want to make sure you Wii U (or where you sit with the GamePad) isn't to close to other wireless devices, it could cause issues. My router is about a foot away from my Wii U and I don't get any problems so it doesn't have to be too far awat

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

To elaborate, the Wii U Gamepad uses the 5GHz band on the 802.11n wireless standard to communicate with the Wii U. Interference could occur if other devices are trying to communicate using the same band.

Nope, the battery indicator blinks blue for a second and then goes off. And it's not going to sync.

Check to make sure the right AC adapter to the Wii U is correct (use the link I provided) EDIT: model number for the AC adapter is WUP-011.
Check the AC adapter for physical damage.
Perform an AC adapter reset by unplugging the AC adapter from the wall outlet AND the Wii U. Leave it unplugged for 90 seconds, then plug it back in and try again.

Get back to me if none of this works.

@brewsky None of this methods work, unfortunately. Well for now, I called Nintendo to repair the gamepad. They said I need to return the gamepad and the console to them and including a receipt from where I got it from. So if I don't have it, guess I have to pay for the repair. But unfortunately I don't have the receipt, so I'll get it back from Gamestop since they have it. Also they said I could do a data transfer by giving them the serial number located in the back of the console. It's up to me then by calling them back later which is confiming for shipping the gamepad and console to repairs, including the receipt and the serial number for a data transfer. Repairing the gamepad or anything else can take about two weeks though.

Let's hope this could work.

How does the pad behave?

When I dropped mine, it would turn on the 'on' led and then it died slowly, the screen itself did not turn on or anything.

It turns out a safety lock of a connector inside the pad had become unlocked and that was all the problem.

So where do I lock it? I don't see it anywhere.

Edit: And with the gamepad behaving, it does the same what you said. But when I try to turn it on again, it doesn't turn on. Then I started to hold the power button for 15 seconds, it resets. Turning it on again will just turn off. Charging it never made the gamepad respond to the console but the battery light shows orange. Also when I turn it on, it shows the blue light and then the light dims. The battery light showed orange while it charged. Taking the AC adapter off of the gamepad still showed orange. So I started doing the same thing when holding the power button for 15 seconds.

No offense, but this isn't really a tech support forum. You would probably get better feedback here.

Yes! Mine did exactly the same stuff.

Here's a pic of the part I had to re-lock.

After I pushed down the black lock, all went back to normal.

@3DSfan134 What @moorpheel is recommending is opening the Gamepad to reattach a part that was causing the problem when he dropped the Gamepad.

I recommend refraining from opening the Gamepad as it would void your warranty, and we don't even know if that would solve the problem.

Unfortunately, I have exhausted all of my solutions, but I can provide you a little clarification.
Your problem is most likely a manufacturing defect (duh). However, your Gamepad becoming, as you said, unstable in its connection is most likely irrelevant to the issue. The screen says that when interference is causing a poor connection, usually by distance or another device. It is completely normal, most of the time. It is possible that the unstable connection was a precursor to the issues you are having now, but I wouldn't put much stock into this.

Currently, your best bet is to send your console to Nintendo. Customer Service will take care of you and you will either have a repaired Gamepad or a new one, or if it's the worst case scenario, a new Wii U.

I'm sorry your first experience with a great console came to this....

The behavior he mentioned is exactly the same my gamepad had when that lock poped open due to an impact. I'm not sure if his gamepad suffered some impact (he doesn't mention that at all) but it's the same things mine did.

I believe he also mentioned his warranty was basically non-existent too, so if this can solve his problem and he is confident in his basic screwdriving skill... There's nothing to lose really, If it doesn't solve the problem he can still send it to nintendo anyway.

But in the end, the choice is his. Both options are equally bothersome.

All he needs is a receipt, which he said he could get from Gamestop.

If the repair is free, do it. If not, then feel free to reconsider your options.

Yeah, it would boil down to that.

If you can get it free, then don't open it. If not, then there's nothing to lose in trying.

@Meowpheel: sorry to revive a very old post but you're the only person I can find with the same issue! Do you by any chance still have the photo of the part that was loose as it no longer loads? Would be so appreciative if you do! My Gamepad is behaving exactly as you described and I'm out of warranty.

Thanks in advance for any help!

Eel

Oops, looks like the original picture died. Sorry, I don't have it anymore.

However, the part I said was loose is the large ribbon connector in the back, you can see it here:
