Topic: Wii U Freezes While Playing ACIII

@FragRed As fate would have it, I was playing Watch_Dogs last night - 45 hours into the game - and it froze twice on me, having to reset the console. Both times it was while playing the same driving chase section of the same mission. This had never happened before playing this game, so quite a coincidence given it was only yesterday that I post in this thread.

Obviously, it was slightly annoying at the time, but there's little reason for me to make a big deal of it. I carried on playing, completing that driving mission without further problem and carrying on with the story. Played for another hour more and it didn't re-occur.

Evidently, Ubisoft may well have some issues preventing freezes completely with some of their Wii U games. But it's only a big deal if it really hampers your playing experience. So for me with Watch_Dogs, two freezes in 45 hours of gameplay is completely inconsequential.

There's no reason to think it would interfere with save files (unless it happens to be writing to the file at the moment it freezes) or that there's anything wrong with your Wii U.

You guys had me at blood and semen.

The freezing hasn't crippled the game to where I couldn't play it (Remember that Homestead mission? I went ahead and finished it! ), I'm just more interested in seeing if there's a way to prevent it.

@Dankykong: Unfortunately, Watch Dogs around here is still retailing at $30 on the Wii U, while the versions for other consoles are $20 and cheaper. Half the reason I've been holding out on it is the price. I would get it on something else, but it'll be a long while before I get another console, and my laptop is on its last legs. XD

As for Black Flag, I already own the game, so I'll likely at least play through some of it to see if it suffers from the same problems. It'll be awhile before I play it in any case.

Status update:
Saturday - Played for about three hours, and didn't have any issues other than a massive frame rate drop to zero for a moment while in New York.

Sunday - played for two hours, and had a weird freezing issue early on. I had just fast traveled to Monmouth, and lo and behold, the Redcoats weren't exactly fond of my presence as they detected me almost immediately. I broke into a run to get out of the area, and the game randomly froze. Before, this had just happened on loading screens, but this time it happened randomly as I was actually playing. I powered off the console, waited a moment, powered it back on, and resumed playing without anymore incidents.

For both sessions, my wireless was off, which means my Wii U didn't have any internet access. That defeats that idea. sigh

Since I'm near the end of the game, I've decided to go ahead and finish the main story and clean up a couple of sidequests. I'm going to put up with potentially more freezing as it doesn't seem to have done anything to the console; to be sure, I'm going to start making backups more often.

Thanks to everyone that chimed in on the matter!

I downloaded and played AC4 and had no problems and managed to complete the game. So I decided to get AC3 and its unplayable. It freezes while starting up. I got as far as the first line in the cut scene. I don't know what to do. I deleted it twice and downloaded it again. I even moved all my other games to a hard drive and downloaded it straight to the wii u memory.

Just thought I'd throw my two cents in and say this game isn't working for me either. I downloaded the eshop version about a year ago after playing AC4 with no problems, and just got round to trying to play it tonight. Almost as soon as I open the game the graphics and sound on the title screen slow down almost to a halt. Eventually it gets to the main menu, but doesn't seem to react to any button pushes.
I've tried deleting and re-downloading the update, which made no difference, so now I've deleted the whole game and all the data associated with it. I'll see if that's fixed it tomorrow.

I turned off the wifi to my wii u and its working now. I am about 67% completed with it so far.
