All I can say Mr. OP is that you're too concerned with graphics.
Seems the market is as a whole killzone Shadowfall are both the most average you can get in their respective genres (FPS, Character Action game) yet they both got lauded on how graphically impressive they are or in the case of Ryse how great the story was.
WAT!

I do agree they need to just merge the two platforms together - portable + home console. The current state is just too cannibalistic.
That's actually what's rumored right now, it's also rumored that it will feature "super backwards compatibility" by simply just making the OS more powerful each gen.
Haha. That sounds great, but I don't even wanna think about it yet. I spent half of the Wii lifespan daydreaming about the potential of the NEXT Nintendo console, and all of it's HD glory. It's wayyyyy too early for me to start dreaming about the precursor to the Wii U.

The PS3 got outsold by a gimmicky underpowered console. Imagine that
Hmm.... Did this underpowered console get healthy support with first and third parties? No it didn't. The ting was abandoned in 2011! Nintendo publicly announced that the would STOP making Wii games in 2012 before Wii U launched! (I don't imagine any company doing that ever). Meanwhile at PS3 we are getting DLC that the Wii U isn't!

I wouldn't mind if we weren't MISSING GAMES because of it (see PS2).

At the end of the day your going to have to live with the fact that the Wii U is a secondary console at best, and if you want those other games your going to have to shell out $400-500 extra dollars.

You mean successor not precursor (the hint is in the 'pre-' suffix)
Anyways, I agree entirely. Right now I can't see what I'd actually want out of a Wii U successor. Technically there's not much that the Wii U can't do for the games I want to play on that system that could be done on a new console. Even if they went "hey, lets make this PC grade" the only major improvement would be that the games run at 1080p, 60fps and full AA rather than 720p with low shadow detail. Even less of a deal when I spend most of the time playing games on it in 480p on a GamePad anyways.
There are reasons why one console grabs the #1 spot when others don't and you can obsess over this for pages on end. However once the generation starts more often than not the console that's doing well is doing well because it has done well already. If Nintendo made a new console it would again be in last place because people are barely into this generation yet let alone ready for a new one. They're placed well enough to compete on some level, let them compete.
And FFS, just enjoy your damn games rather than making more threads like this. Or at the very least go and watch a movie... like Blade Runner or something. Make an afternoon out of it. Obsess over the graphical fidelity of that movie while you ponder the value of good art direction vs better technology. Finest quality, superior workmanship

"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"
the hardware and concepts behind the wii u are fine. the problem is that nintendo failed to communicate its value and further failed to advertise/promote the console. it'sa very good machine and has lots of virtue. people just don'tknow about it and do not "get" how much fun the console is. hopefully more people will discover it when mario kart comes out. that should open some eyes. fwiw, i have seen more traffic and interest for the wii u when i go to target, walmart and gamestop etc.
So the WiiU is failing because it's underpowered compared to the Ps4/xb1? ......Yeah, never you mind bout dat poor marketing and te fact that some of nintendo themselves don't know how to make the max use of console and the bad blood tween 3rd party developers. sure some 3rd party requre power but the majority require a monetary payoff taking their time making a port or making a game exclusive to the WiiU, currently the wiiu sales aren't dat hot. Improving but not enough. Something as simple as a lack of power being the sole reason why the console is failing is pretty short sighted.

You got me, thanks for the correction. Though, I think you mean... prefix.
Hell, many other consoles probably has the same underpowered problems as the Wii, like the gameboy, nds, playstation1 and 2 to name a few and they came out fine. If you're concerned about what games you're playing that much. There's no problem with you going to a more powerful console of choice or heh a pc.
Was Mariobro4. No, I'm not taking off my backpack...it's important.
The saddest part is that, even with all of those extra polygons and pixels on screen, it is hardly noticeable when you are playing a great game. I would rather play X, Mario Kart 8, and Bayonetta 2 in 720p-1080p than CoD, Battlefield, FF, AC, (insert generic hype game here), etc. in 4k. I have an 18 in HD tv. Wii U games and PS4 games will look just fine on my screen. I get some people want a 50 in 4k tv, but by that time your not playing games, you are wasting money for resolution. The Wii U could fall flat on its face this generation (more than it already has), but why should we care? Sure we will miss out on some games, but we are the ones smart enough to see the value in the Wii U (would be more if NIntendo would ADVERTISE XD). Third parties want to skip out on the only group who are resolution crazy fools? I say f*** them. Third parties want to get angry because their late, overpriced, and/or gimped ports don't sell well? F*** them too. I chose the Wii U because it was the only true option for me. I am a casual player. Why would I even consider buying a console whose main selling point is paying a subscrption fee? Hmmmm..... tough choice: $300 console with free game with no subscription fee or a $400-500 console with a $50-60 yearly subscription fee at the end of a normal cycle of 6 years, I could have spent that extra $300-400 from subscription fee from either of the two consoles on a whole new console (or more games). Call me cheap, I call it smart. The only reason we see so much support going to Sony and Microsoft is because they are buying it. Sony is in financial ruin because of it, on top of the heavy losses they took from the beginning of the PS3. Microsoft's Xbox brand is in jeopardy because it has failed to generate an overall profit since it started. I would much rather go back to the days of local multiplayer than have a future of money blowing idiots playing nothing but FPS on subscription fees of $50+ a year.
