@Ralizah How is it cheaper? I paid the exact same amount for both (Kinect-less X1, PS-Camera-less PS4). Since the removal of Kinect M$ freed up ressources on the X1, that were reserved for use with Kinect, thereby making the 'power gap' even smaller. Don't forget about acess to DX11 on X1, which will be an advantage for all PC ports like the Witcher. I think any game that is properly optimised for both platforms will look great on both and really almost identical to the consumer eye. Sure you read your Digital Foundry write ups and find technical difference, that does not mean you will be able to notice any of them when actually playing the game in real time. So far I'm waiting for Sony to announce great exclusive games, Infamous was decent and The Order will be good no doubt, I loved RADs' GoW games on PSP, but the only real must-have-this game they announced, for me is Bloodborne. I have some hope UC4 will move back in the direction of UC1/2, of being an action adventure, in a kind of Indiana Jones-esque way. UC3 was a 3rd person shooter first and foremost, with endless shooting galleries, which became tedious. If they insist on pulling a Gears of War here, they better include coop and some proper gore. Maybe the saving grace for 2015 will be Sony solid Indiegame line-up with the likes of Abzu, Rime, The Witness, No Mans Sky (also PC though) ... time will tell.

We're kind of getting off topic here. This started as a discussion of why the Wii U is getting negative press right now, and why it's not getting multi platform titles right now.

Scar, you act like you don't understand why people are already assuming the Wii U will come 3rd, but they just released their biggest game of the year, in a month where the competition had no new games, and still came 3rd. Right now, all we have is blind hope. There's very little facts to cling to that suggest the Wii U can turn around. If Mario Kart 8 can't get them ahead of the competition, then I really doubt games like Bayonetta 2, Hyrule Warriors and Captain Toad can. Smash will release in the holiday period, so it's going to be pretty hard to judge it's true effect, since during November and December, console sales typically increase anywhere from 5 to 10 times a regular month.

Wii U could turn it all around, but you can't blame people for looking at the facts and assuming the worst. None of us can predict the future, but it's still fun to discuss.

Almost everything you said is factually wrong, though. Mario Kart 8 DID start the turnaround for the Wii U - hardware sales were up something like 3x over in May, and continue to be up 1x or more in June. It DID "beat" all other single-platform games sales in the same period of time. The only game that bested it when considering the multi-platform titles was Watch Dogs, and that sucker was released on FIVE platforms (PC, 360, One, PS3, PS4) - does it shock you that it sold more than a game only released on ONE platform, a platform that also has a lower install base than four of those five previously mentioned?

Again, nobody here, including me, is an economist, but you do have to approach the data we have with some sort of common sense. Facts are facts, and the numbers are out there if you want to look at them. If you don't consider Wii U hardware sales maintaining a 100%+ improvement over last year and before Mario Kart, then fine, but you're just being stubborn and illogical. If you don't consider a game on only ONE platform nearly selling as much as the most-hyped game of the year (Watch Dogs) that was released on FIVE platforms, then again, fine, but you're being stubborn and illogical.

This. Also, which game they release that is the biggest is HUGELY subjective. All I'm trying to say is that PS4 selling the most consoles is not 100%, and that is fact. There is a chance for every console, and guess what, thinking PS4 will sell the most is just as blind of hope as thinking neither the Xbox One and Wii U can outsell it!

An assumption is just that. If no one will entertain the idea that Wii U could EVEN POSSIBLY outsell the PS4, then all these discussions are pointless. Fun, huh?

Problem with this is no one was saying PSP ans PS Vita were going to sell more than DS and 3DS 6-12 months after both consoles for each generation were out because sales showed that wasn't the case where as now we've seen for 6 months the PS4 has completely dominated world wide sales for 6 months and is still selling the most now so is still dominating. Of course games can make a difference but we don't know what that diffence will be all we know are the cold hard facts that PS4 has been dominating and just like the Wii after launch it feels like the console that will runaway in the sales race with the rest playing catch up.

Ya, but there was just as much reasoning to be had that PSP and PS Vita would outsell the Nintendo systems. So you are telling me, that everyone would give up on PS4 as soon as it started to not sell that well, like PSP and PS Vita?

Sony has litterally said that PS Vita's future is basically in the air, and how that effects the PS4 and Sony as a company should be highly considered, because if they can't support the Vita, it's pretty likely that they are unable to afford support of the PS4 either. Something to think about...

What I said was, that even MK8 had not helped it outsell the competition. Can anyone honestly say there's a bigger game on the horizon for shifting hardware than MK8?

The Vita sales in May were 16 times what they were in April, but it's still an almighty flop. These percentage increases mean nothing unless you actually get good figures out of them.

There was before launch key word being before whereas PS4 has shown it has strong legs post launch, which is why your comparison isn't good.

Putting words in my now but okay I'll respond anyway, if hardware and software sales dropped off a cliff for the system I expect some third parties would probably reduce support but that's only a guess.

I don't agree with their decision on how they have treated the Vita but understand from a business perspective that the PS4 has a higher chance of success, who knows if they can support it in the future but they are doing so now and can't see that changing out of the blue.

Well, Smash Bros. and tons of other games are in the pipeline. That's why I'm saying, if you aren't going to consider those as games that can help Wii U compete, then this discussion is pointless for any direction.

@Jazzer94
Perhaps you misunderstood what @peach64 said . All I read in a nutshell was, "PS4 will outsell Wii U and Xbox One, regardless", which means those consoles have no chance. No way, no how, and seeing as @Peach64 wants to supposedly have a discussion, he/she can't just assume things, because then that ends the disccusion, which was clearly a point in the post. I wasn't putting words in your mouth. I totally agree that PS4 has a better chance, but if PS4 stops selling, are they just going to consider dropping it like Vita? Noitce how there is a question mark.

But you're not even bothering.

Everyone else is point out reasons why it's incredibly unlikely that the Wii U will outsell the PS4 and all you're doing is lashing out and getting angry at people. You're not discussing. You're just telling everyone that they're wrong, because Mario Kart. Because Smash.

But no. The Wii U just dropped what is arguably the biggest game it'll ever have, and it still undersold the XBO in a dry month. Microsoft picks their noses, flicks at the wall behind them, and sells more consoles than Nintendo trying their damnedest.

@CaviarMeths
I have explained why Wii U can still sell well. My reason just doesn't matter to any of you. There are more games coming out, and you guys are saying they don't matter. Xbox One sold 1000 more consoles than Wii U, so give it a f***ing rest. Nintendo doesn't have the luxary of having a bigger 3rd party release schedule like PS4, so how do you expect it sell? If the lack of 3rd party games is what is truely hurting Wii U sales, then what do you expect Nintendo to do? That's why blaming only Nintendo will not make the situation any better.

Peach64 said that if Mario Kart 8 can't turn around the Wii U, then nothing will, which is what you are saying, as well. Considering that's basically the only game Wii U had, is why I should be asking how much more do you expect from one game, and why would you discredit any future game to do the same?

We can't even compare Wii U sales to PS4 or Xbox One if 3rd party games are actually effecting sales. If 3rd parties are effecting Wii U sales, we can't even compare how it would do, because the consoles are no longer under the same circumastances that you are trying to place them in.

What Peach said was factually correct everything said in the post is currently occurring that is that. Sure we can discuss what the biggest game is for 2014 but we'll just end up with MK8 and SSB4 and out of the two I'd say MK is bigger by looking at past entries and I'm fairly confident the majority would go that way too.

I'm not going to continue going down this path because it is just stupid and just an excuse for under performance, They are all 8th generation home consoles so can be compared salewise games have no bearing on the matter.

I never said that what @Peach64 said was false. I said that we can't assume PS4 will outsell everything, just because it is now. It's common sense. Everyone knows PS4 is selling really well, myself included, but that doesn't automatically mean PS4 will have the highest sales when all is said and done. I was merely trying to explain WHY we can't assume that, regardless of the circumstances.

The lack of games is not an excuse for poor sales. It's a reason.. That's the main reason why people are saying they are buying Xbox One and PS4 over Wii U. You know just as well as I do that that is the main reason people more than likely will tell you that they will buy PS4 and Xbox One over Wii U. "PS4/Xbox One have the 3rd party games, brah." If that is making them decide to buy anything else, it is factually a a reason why Wii U wasn't selling as well. I realize that people are buying Xbox One and PS4 for other reasons, but Wii U not having 3rd party support, which in turn effects sales, is not an excuse, dude.

Wii U actually has more games in it's catalogue than Ps4 or Xboxone at the moment. Weekly software chart at the moment: Mario Kart 8 is still number one with 103 000 units sold, with another Nintendo game Tomodachi Life being second at about 74 000. Jeez, Nintendo's really doing bad *eyeroll
