Topic: Wii to Wii U Transfer Question

I will be getting a Wii U, but before I get a Wii U I must sell my Wii to get money to buy it. I want to transfer my stuff but I can't because it requires a Wii U to transfer to BEFORE you can begin the transfer process, I was going to transfer the data onto the SD card then transfer the data on the SD to the Wii U when I get one. I was thinking of ways to bypass this problem, then this idea came to mind.

Would this work?

Since you have to put a SD card on a target Wii U console, I would assume that it puts data onto that card. If I download the data put onto the card from the internet would it work, or is each data different for the target Wii U? I would have used that data and put it on a SD card then begin the transfer proccess then I would sell my Wii and then transfer the data when I buy a Wii U.

Would that work? It seems very Farfetch'd but would it work? Its the only idea that comes to my mind. Does each Wii U put different data on the SD so that it only works on THAT Wii U, or is it something that only makes sure you have a Wii U before the transfer?

The Wii U transfer is really awkward but you will need your Wii to transfer everything over. In my opinion, keep your Wii and don't transfer anything over, it's not worth it in the long run because they games look worse on an HD TV, you can't use GC controllers, and some features are missing from the original Wii.

I have the Wii Family Edition so GCN controllers arent an issue for me. Also aren't most of the features already have been shut down on the Wii? I'm not interested in graphics and I won't play my Wii U on an HDTV.

You have to have the Wii. You cannot put everything on the SD card. That's simply not how it works, because actually what you're transferring is not the games themselves, but rather the license to own the games on that particular system. So, you would have to buy the Wii U first, but if you plan on selling the Wii, then definitely transfer everything over. I think some stores might do the transfer for you, I don't know, but I would much rather do it myself than rely on an employee at a store.

I doubt any stores do that, since it would involve hooking up both systems.

You'll need to the buy the WiiU, swap data, then sell the Wii.
