You can probably sync so many controllers to one system, just not at the same time

I only have 5 in the house, so I can't test. Does anyone have 7 Wiimotes lying around? If so, do you want to see if you can get all of them to sync to the console?

Sorry @Tasuki. Just think it's better in every way over keeping your Wii 'full'. I don't use GCN controls for my Wii games(except Smash Bros.), even for Mario Kart Wii(Wii remote nunchuck is best for me, and I used to use a wavebird until Wii U and noticed only trick motions added which are responsive enough for me to just switch). GCN is dead in terms of support, and new games coming out, so if I were you, I would just move on to the new which would include newer/better(IMH) controllers. If you don't give your Wii away, use it as your GCN still. As for VC, I agree the GCN controller works better for N64 sometimes, but I'm moving on to the new stuff, and I don't mind the controls enough to make it a point... ALL MY OPINION.

No reason to be sorry about your opinion. I see where your coming from totally and I agree with you in terms of support and games coming out Game Cube is dead. For me though I am a huge retro game collector I have a NES, SNES, N64, Sega Genesis, Dreamcast, and a Magnavox Odyssey, just to name a few so having old consoles around doesnt bother me. Right now I have a few VC games on my Wii but I am still fighting myself if its worth it to deal with that hassle of a transfer just for a few games.

For sure. If you don't think you'll be using VC much, if at all, then ya it's not worth it. I had around $300 worth of games on mine, and just move up consoles immediately once a new console comes out anyway, so it was a no brainer for me. It was hard getting all those games when the Wii came out(I was younger=less money), and even recall people complaining about prices on VC games that went for $30+ as a cartridge, because they either already had the cartridge(didn't want to buy it again, even though the visuals to 480p and Dolby II were added), or just thought the prices were to high for old games regardless since they were digital. I've gone all digital(if I can), so moving to Wii U took no convincing from me...

@SCAR392: Exactly for me its more of a question is do I want to have access to my VC game in my retro cave or in my bedroom. But yeah if I had the amount of VC games you do I would definitely transfer.

Dear Everyone,

I really hope you are enjoying your Wii U that you bought(if not, then soon!). Did you know you can transfer your Wii to the Wii U via system transfer channel? I would only recommend transfering if you want all your games in one place, assuming you have plenty, and for a better HDTV connection for all Wii content... Whether or not you transfer, I will still write you nice letters like this occasionally, because I will be your friend no matter what. I hope you don't mind!

Sincerely,
Your Mii

P.S. Why don't rated M games use me? I feel left out...

I would recommend not transfering, because nothing gets better, and MANY games with Gamecube Controller support, 5-player modes, and WiiConnect24 online modes will lose their special features. In exchange for the transfer you lose LostWinds and all those features, and you get no more memory than on your old Wii - but lots of transfer and redownloading work. Losing all those features I would only do the transfer if I can have all my VC and WW games on the 32GB WiiU memory.

I don't get it. No one would have defended any of this stuff before transferring was even known to even take these features away. All these features were barely used or outdated(GCN). As for Lost Winds, I didn't like that game, so I'm biased on that one...

Also HDTV connection is more clear, and lag free regardless of your TV setting, so that is an improvement.

lol, I don't know why you keep harping on how GCN is outdated. So what? Like many others, I prefer using the GCN controller for N64 VC games, and using one is the only way to get 5-player support on the VC games that have it. Nintendo could potentially have 5-player support on the Wii U using Gamepad and Wiimotes, but we will have to wait and see.

I think I'm just pissed off at everything. Haha... I understand that people want these features and standards that ARE possible from their consoles, but the fact is, is that they aren't. I don't see any point in fighting for features Nintendo isn't going to add, because they were rarely used in THAT console. That's understandable. 5 player is possible on Wii U games, like Sonic Transformed. They're trying to move forward with current tech, to make old tech obsolete.

I've yet to get a Wii U myself, but all the same I remain conflicted as to what I'm going to do. The thing is less then a few months ago I went though the trouble of buying GC controllers and SSBM, but now that I won't be able play it on the Wii U, I remain unsure if I really want to transfer everything else. I suppose I can just transfer, put the Wii in the basement (there's an older TV down there), and keep it just in case and so I can still play SSBM if I really want to. But if or when SSBM comes out as Wii U VC, I'll likely give my Wii to a young friend of mine to whom I've introduced video games (he's like a little brother to me). And if not that, then I'll just sell it.

It's not really worth it.
Once you do the transfer, there is basically no point to keeping your wii unless you use it to play GCN games or play Wii games that use GCN controllers.

I've done the transfer, but since all of my VC and Save Data went over to the Wii U...I only keep it because I want to play Smash Bros with my bro and GCN games...

I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

Every one questioning the transfer of Wii to Wii U, just go flip a coin to decide. There's seriously no argument here. Wii U runs the Wii games better 100%.

I just played Super Smash Bros. Brawl on my Wii U, WITH the classic controller. Turns out, I was able to beat level 9 computers on a free for all match just as good. It's different, sure, but nothing you guys can't handle I'm sure... Just think back to when you had to adapt from N64 controls to GCN. Same thing. If you still want to keep your Wii the way it is, fine, but I transferred my Wii to Wii U, and it's better for me... They still make Wii products, not GCN, and it will be cool to finally get Smash Bros. 4, because by then, everyone will HAVE to ditch GCN. Good luck.

Well I have come to the decision that I will not be transfering.

Tonight I tried to go on a Mega Marathon of Mega Man on my Wii using the GC Anniversary collection. This was really the first time I played a GC game on the Wii since I upgrade to an HDTV and OMG the lag was horrible. It looked like I was some Megaman noob. I than decide to play some VC games than I than noticed the lag was just as bad. So it looks like off to the retro cave to an old sony tv for my Wii. I just hope that the games on the Wii U VC when that comes around isn't plagued with this lag problem.

It's not about some underused features getting lost.
It's about putting work into something, but regaining nothing from it.
Fair deal would be losing the mentioned Wii features but gaining 8GB/32GB of Wii U memory.
Wii/VC/WW games looking and playing better on Wii U is a myth.

Apart from that I've been told by Nintendo of Europe to "wait with the transfer"!
