I was thinking about getting wii sports club as i loved wii sports back on the wii.
The reviews like gamespot and ign say its bad but then again you cant spell ignorant without ign
So is it like the old wii sports? Im not gonna use the gamepad for it im gonna use wiimotes cuz wii sports was made for motion control.
I play all modes except boxing which was always junk. Is it any good?

Download the game, and it comes with a timed demo that lets you try out all the modes. That's the best gauge to see if you like it.

I would also recommend you wait just because the download is free, so you can make sure you like it before you spend any money, but do what you will with that.

As far as the game itself, if you like Wii Sports, you'll like Wii Sports Club. It is better than the original in every way. Don't expect anything revolutionary, mind you, but the controls are a bit more accurate, the online features are a nice addition, most of the training modes are simple, but nice for killing a quick minute and the Gamepad extras give another small immersive step. It's all around better than Wii Sports, but it certainly isn't game-changing.

It's pretty fun. The golf is alot more accurate/skill demanding than even Wii Sports Resort. The GamePad gives you a visual and physical representation of where the ball is. The only games I didn't really think were all that great were baseball and boxing. They are still worth some fun with some people. Tennis is fun online.

I think so. However If you don't play all the sports just download the ones you actually use and save some cash.

I was reluctant at first, but tried the trial and got bowling, golf and tennis. It was more fun than I thought. I love golf but I suck . Got the rest when they released later.Baseball is entertaining. Boxing isn't bad. Bowling, which you are undoubtedly familiar with is my most played. It's fun if you don't feel like putting much thought or energy into a game.

No, the motion controls are bad. The only sport that works perfectly is Bowling. It's iffy on Baseball and Boxing, and Golf just doesn't work at all.

You should get "Wii Sports Resort" instead, if you don't already have it, the motion controls for that games works flawlessly.

In terms of worth if you've played the original
1. Golf (games takes too long for online, but offline it's perfection)
2. Bowling (works online and not, is the same as it was)
3. Baseball (works online and not, is better so isn't the worst sport anymore)
4. Tennis (lag causes it to be basically unplayable online, but offline is as good as it was)
5. Boxing (online works decently and it's a lot better than it was, still not worth it IMO)

Actually I was wondering the same thing recently, is Sports Club worth it? I really liked Tennis on the Wii and an upgraded version sounds rather tempting. I loaned my Wiimotes to a friend so I can't test it right now, but I'm suprised to hear that people say that it's still laggy. It's been out a long time, how come Nintendo didn't do anything to fix the lag issues? Anyone played it recently?

I played tennis online last time about 2 months ago. Didn't experience any lags back then, as far as I can recall (in NoE territory using a LAN connection).

It's only online and it depends on who you're playing against. I'm in Australia and usually that means I play against Japanese players for things like Smash or Kart which is ok because distance wise Japan isn't that far away (at least compared to the US or Europe). Also for games like Mario Kart in particular latency doesn't impact it and for Bowling you take turns to there's no impact on performance at all. But Wii Sports club not only locks you into playing against people in your own "region" but also with Tennis they have to monitor every little bit of your motion for it to work. So I always ended up playing against people on the other side of the world.... and it wasn't that great.

I haven't tested it in a long while because I never brought Tennis for this very reason. I assume the same is still true though, I see no reason why it would have been fixed. I'm pretty sure the issue was geographical not technical in nature.

I bought the disc version but barely played it.....not sure if its because the Wii Sports magic has worn off on me or because it wasn't as good or because I just have way too much else to play on my Wii U.

@blaisedinsd I have the download version. For me, it's a bit of both of those things, with the addition of I feel it's more of a party game for me. Something I'd play with friends or family in the same room. Having online functions is awesome - don't get me wrong - but the lack of interaction is kind of a game killer for me. I still do go and play a random match or few once in a blue moon, and since it's the download version it's always right there.

@WackoDaSniper To the original post, yes, it sounds like you would enjoy it then. As far as your control worries, the GamePad is never optional to use or not use. Let me explain. For [I believe all of] the online modes, the GamePad will show random posts from people if you have those enabled. The only time you use it as a control option is when you are pitching and in the outfield catching a fly ball in Baseball. (No, there is no more actual Wiimote throwing motion for pitching). In Golf, you set the GamePad at your feet and it will show your ball, the lie your ball is in, and your clubhead, as well as a shot-power meter for when you swing. This really enhances the experience of that game mode compared to the original Wii Sports. Other than that, all of the controls are with the Wiimote and motion as they always were. Hope that clarifies that

Gamepad Pitching's the only disappointment for me here, since I actually loved the Pitching in the Wii version. Oh well, it's still fun to play.

Golf and bowling are worth it without a doubt. Baseball and tennis are worth it if you were a fan of those sports in the previous games. Boxing, no.

Golf and bowling really do shine, particularly the golf. They could have (and SHOULD have) just expanded to golf and sold it for a full retail title by itself. Or used the mechanics for a Mario golf game on Wii U.mits just excellent. Super responsive controls will have you working on your swing just like you were playing in real life. Having the gamepad on the floor with the ball in the grass and seeing your club still amazes me, I love it. Every swing brings satisfaction as you hit the ball off the gamepad screen into the TV. You can put topspin, backspin, draw or fade naturally through your swing, unlike every other golf game were you just push a button. I think a lot of people were put off by the difficulty- they didn't realize the game does a fantastic job of mimicking real golf, and you can't just wildly flail your arms in a swing and expect to stay under par. The game does take practice but that's what makes it great. We're gamers. Mastering skills is what we do.

This isn't true. I've played them all and know for a fact that they work, as long as you know how to actually use the controls. Bowling and tennis are the easiest ones to play, IMO.

You will need the Gamepad for golf, and for multiplayer baseball (one player bats with the Wii Remote Plus while another pitches with the Gamepad). You will still need 1-4 Wii Remote Pluses or to get the most out of the game.
