Topic: Wii save files to Wii U

Hi there,

I am about to buy a Wii U, but I have brothers that still play the games on the Wii

Is it posible to transfer the saved data from a Wii to an SD card, puting them back in the same Wii (since they are automatically removed) and only then to the Wii U?

I need the saved files in both consoles.

Thanks in advance

You can do that, but only for physical games. Any downloaded games on your Wii can only be played on a Wii U through the system transfer process, which is an all-in kind of thing.

But that 'all-in kind of thing' means I can play them on the Wii U too? Can I play them on both the TV and Game Pad? Can I do this with Wii games?

You can play Wii games on both the TV and the Gamepad, but the Gamepad doesn't work as input. You can't use the buttons. You'll still need a Wii remote, etc. Kind of silly, but hopefully someday you can just straight play Wii games on the Gamepad.

You mean like: Looking at the gamepad while pointing at the TV/Wii U motion detector?

No looking and pointing at the gamepad. The gamepad has a sensor bar build inside

Everything can change, but I'm never changing who I am

But the gamepad is so small. Can you even play like that?

You have to put the GamePad on the stand closer than to you than the TV, but yeah, it's playable. In my living I have a small "coffee table" between the couch and the TV, so I use that. Also, you're the first person I see criticising the GP for being small. Most people complain about the exact opposite!
