Topic: Wii Mode Transition Without TV

So, here's the question I have. I couldn't find anything on it, since the update is so recent.

Is there a way to switch to off-tv mode WITHOUT needing to switch to the tv and use the Wii-mote to pick "TV and Gamepad display"? Like an auto switch option?

Nintendo has this amazing way of raising my hopes sky high, and then immediately crushing them into the pavement. I don't mind the wii-mote requirement, but my real use would be taking it to working and playing it there, since I have a lot of downtime atm.

When you turn on the console: Hold B when you hear the Wii U jingle, then you'll hear the Wii jingle. It will ask you to choose a user, then it will take you to the Wii Menu with "TV & GamePad" option as default.

That's it.

Thanks, I actually remembered that about 5 minutes before I rechecked this. Worth noting that you have to change the video settings to non-hdmi for it to work.

Not for me. Must be your TV or something.

I have no idea what they were thinking with this. So, to use Off-TV Wii Mode you either need a TV to change the Resolution which should NOT be an option in the first place for a HD console or you need a TV to even start that mode.
That makes absolutely no sense at all. Its bad that they didnt bother to offer Wii-controller emulation but this is the equivalent to a waterproof teabag.
Off-TV mode inaccesable because of a turned off TV...genius.

Now I see what you guys are talking about. You do realize that's guaranteed to be fixed via firmware, right? It may not work now, but they will fix that. They wouldn't have even come this far if they weren't planning on enhancing Wii Mode further. Just give it some time.

I have discovered something interesting about the Wii U: I have made a topic about not getting access to Wii menu, and it turned out that the TV needs to be connected to the power source in order to get access to the Wii menu, otherwise; you will get a pop up window saying that you should press try again on the TV. It seems that the Wii U knows whether your TV is on or off.

Making promise is easy. The hard part is keeping it.

yes of course. before this update, if you tried to acsess wii menu and the tv was turned off, you would just be sent back to the wii U menu again. This is not something that came now, it has been here since the beginning
