So I've just gotten a Wii U for Christmas (Yay!), and all has been fine until I've tried to enter Wii Mode.
As soon as I go on Wii Mode my Wii Remote stops working, and I'm unable to control anything and get past the health and safety screen (Until it goes away by itself - leaving me stuck on the Wii Menu without any control). This might just be me missing something obvious, but any help would be appreciated.
I make Pixel Art on occasion.Help bring [url=https://www.change.org/p/square-enix-localize-dragon-quest-7-3ds-and-dragon-quest-10-on-wii-u-3ds-pc-to-the-us-and-europe?recruiter=57663137&utm_campaign=mailto_link&utm_...

Have you synced the controller to the system?

I've synced the controller to the system, so I've been using it for Wii U games, and it works on the Wii U menu up until I select Wii Mode at which point all lights go off and it stops responding. I don't know if I'm supposed to sync it again as soon as I change to Wii Mode - I'd assumed not but that might be what I'm doing wrong.

You shouldn't have to do that, but why not try it. If it can help I don't see why you shouldn't try syncing it in Wii mode as well.

After taking out and putting the batteries back in a few times it started responding again. I've checked and it seems I need to do this every time I switch to Wii Mode. Not ideal but at least it works now - thanks for the help!

Sounds like an actual problem with the Wiimotes rather than your shiny new Wii U! Still, if you don't mind it, all is well!
