Guys,

Might be better in the WII section but what Wii games are must have's?

I missed out on the Wii as I only ever played the wii sports style games and thought the console was not my cup of tea.

How wrong I was and after purchasing a Wii-U i have picked up the following wii games:

Skyward Sword
Mad World
Res Evil 4
Little Kings Story

All really good and most of them cost me under £8.

What else do you guys recommend? I want to get last story and xenoblade at some point.

Thanks.

I would say the Mario Galaxy games, Super Smash Bros Brawl(Wii remote w/ classic controller), Pikmin 1 & 2. Donkey Kong Country Returns, Metroid Prime 3 or Trilogy, Punch Out, maybe Kirby if you don't want too much of a challenge, Mario Kart, New Super Mario Bros. Wii. That's all I can come up with...

My suggestions for Wii games would be:

Super Mario Galaxy 1
Super Mario Galaxy 2
New Super Mario Bros Wii (especially if you enjoyed the Wii U one)
The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess
Mario Kart Wii
Super Smash Bros Brawl
Donkey Kong Country Returns

Maybe quite a few others. I hear Xenoblade is good. Metroid Prime Trilogy is good. Kirby's Return to Dreamland is as well. And if you want something a bit more obscure, Wario Land Shake It and Kirby's Epic Yarn could be good.

I'll second the Mario Galaxy games if you like platformers and Smash Bros. Brawl. If you're enjoying Madworld and like brawlers I'd also suggest Red Steel 2 (which can now be bought pretty cheap on Amazon and includes a Motionplus adaptor as well).

My personal favourites that I think can be enjoyed by pretty much anyone:

Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario Galaxy 2
New Super Mario Bros. Wii
Xenoblade Chronicles
Donkey Kong Country Returns
Mario Kart Wii
New Play Control! Pikmin 2
Animal Crossing: Let's Go to the City
Either of the two Kirby platformers
Metroid Prime Trilogy
Okami

Edit: Ooh, yes, Wario Land as well. That was a good game!

Some excellent games to consider:

Anno 1404 (aka: Dawn of Discovery in North America)
Boom Blox
Dokapon Kingdom
Endless Ocean
Fire Emblem: Radiant Dawn
House of the Dead: Overkill
The Last Story
Monster Hunter Tri (online servers will be shut down when Wii U version arrives; still great single-player though)
No More Heroes, No More Heroes 2
Project Zero 2
Rabbids Go Home
Resident Evil Umbrella/Darkside Chronicles
Silent Hill Shattered Memories
Tatsunoku vs Capcom
Trauma Center series
Xenoblade Chronicles

Those games cover a lot of territory. You probably won't like all of them... so pick and choose the ones that appeal to you.

Easily missed. There was a lot of good games that came about in 2010, of many different genres, and thanks to that there's still a lot I have to catch up on. Looking back now there was a good library of games. It just ended on a sour note (and by that I mean few games being released, not necessarily that those games were no good [if you like JRPGs]).

It's understandable. The internet loved hating on the Wii as soon as they realized it was either that or buy a game that isn't Mario so people could get the wrong idea, not to mention motion controls not necessarily being everyone's cup of tea.

also admitting you made a mistake by completely avoiding the console puts you above most Wii owners in my book

no big deal, i know i missed out on the GBA and GC and have been slowly trying to get all the better games i missed during their lifespans as well. If you'd like any further suggestions as to which Wii games to pick up, we've got a thread where you can ask that question right here. Enjoy! :3
