What ever happened to Wii Fit U?
Another question, would you download this game or buy this game physically? I would download it as its more of a downloadable game.

It's been delayed until December because Nintendo wanted to add more features and polish it a bit more.
I'd probably buy it physically. It would take up too much memory on my Wii U and I would prefer it to have space for other titles.

This is the single most important game coming out for the Wii U

They need this game to be successful

Just for reference since I can foresee Nintendo fans being all like "Oh no Alex, you're crazy, Smash Bros/Zelda/Mario are da best"

Yeah well you're wrong, those games don't mean anything in comparison. Wii Fit sold almost as much as Brawl, Mario Galaxy, and Skyward Sword COMBINED. While costing twice as much.

There's only one franchise that is more important than Wii Fit, and since I love hearing interesting responses, I'll leave that one to everyone's imagination.

@AlexSays Yep. This is when we find out the Wii U's fate. I'm not writing it off till I see what kind of buzz Wii Fit U can generate. There is a boat-load of of people out there who will pay silly money if they believe it will help them lose weight without having to make a big effort. So Nintendo Land failed, but they've still got this baby up their sleeve. Plus Wii Sports U.

I'm gonna download this title because it'll be far more convenient to access than constantly switching discs. Especially with my father constantly asking me to stop everything and let him play Wii Fit.

I was actually going to say I agreed with you, @AlexSays
Wii Fit and Wii Fit + were two really profitable ventures for Nintendo. LIke, both of them did over 20 million without the help of the other. That's pretty freaking crazy.

If there's one thing that doesn't look likely to change, it's that there's lots of overweight people out there, and they're all looking for ways to loose that weight while having it be gimmicky so they don't actually just do the normal thing and eat right with substantial exercise. They love gimmicks, and the most successful one around was Wii Fit. This Wii U iteration could make the Wii U do well single-handedly this holiday season if marketed correctly.

As for which franchise is more important than Wii Fit, I'd guess Mario Kart. Either that or Call of Duty.

Best thread ever

I'm not sure if I'll get this. Depends on the price.
And I think... Pokemon is important. Not sure if you're referring specifically to the Wii U, but Pokemon is a huge system seller. I know lots of people who are getting a 3DS just because of X/Y.

Its actually more convenient to download Wii Fit U instead of getting it for retail like lets say you wake up one morning and you do a 15 minute workout session then you can continue with your day and you do this everyday. This game I will download as its more suited for that purpose!

Well its considerably less exciting when guessed immediately, but yeah it's totally Mario Kart. Wii Sports is up there too, but each time it came packaged with new hardware so we have no idea how it'll do as a standalone.

Any time 1/3rd of everyone with a console buys a specific game on that console, it is a huge achievement. Nintendo is totally counting on Wii Fit + Mario Kart to push hardware next to the new consoles.

I hear everyone talking about Pikmin 3, Wonderful 101, Smash Bros, Wind Waker. Those games are pretty meaningless in comparison, especially Wonderful 101 which will be extremely lucky to break a million copies. Mario Kart and Wii Fit are the heavy hitters.

It's been delayed because the trainer went to have fun at Smash Bros. u_u

Currently Playing: Metroid Prime 3, Zelda Twilight Princess, & Metroid Other M
Hyped for: Sonic Lost World, Super Smash Bros 3DS, & Dream Team

Even though I have beaten many of the games I'm still playing, I play them not to win, but to have fun.

I agree Alex says.. actually that is one of the reasons.. I question another gaming site.. everybody thinks Wii U is only going to be as good as the Gamecube.. my argument was simple.. Gamecube did not have fans waiting for a Wii Fit U.. or a Wii Sports U.. when these titles are released finally with the solid line up Nintendo is getting.. I truly believe the Wii U is going to do way better than the Gamecube... (Heck we may as well add a Wii Party U to that list.. though I don't know why they did not just make a Mario Party U.. but hey)

I agree in theory, but my concern is that all the people who bought Wii Fit will not be compelled to upgrade to Wii Fit U. Kind of a "Fool me once, shame on me; fool me twice..." situation. Scores of those people probably had a Wii 'cause of the Wii Sports craze. Then Fit came out and it caught their attention. But Wii U doesn't have that initial huge audience. I hope you're right that people will seek it out just for another chance to leap on their Balance Board. Marketing is KEY. Get on The Ellen Show, Reggie!

@LittleIrves Once people realized how little the Wii mote actually tracked, they were quite disappointed. Seeing as though the Wii U makes no progress in that area it could be a tough sell for them. Plus Microsoft are a big player now in motion based gaming. I know you've got the off-screen play and some kind of pedometer, but I think what people really want is full body tracking. I still think Nintendo has a lot to answer for when it comes to false advertising with motion controls and the Wii U is feeling the repercussions of that. Plus the tablet was a daft idea.

I don't think Nintendo will release Wii Fit U, Wii Party U, nor any of the big "casual sequels" like Wii U Sports until the release of Mario Kart 8 and Super Smash Bros. for Wii U. They made the mistakes with Nintendo Land and Game & Wario, but this generation for Nintendo, I think it's gamer games first (Donkey Kong and Super Mario included) and "casual" games then, once the console has been taken seriously.

But are the people who bought the original Wii Fit and WIi Sports still waiting for a sequel to those games (wii fit in particular). Everyone I know who had a Wii Fit and used it alot has moved onto either Fitbit or Nike+ and really only look for software that integrates with those two.

@DePapier Both Wii Fit U (December 2013) and Wii Party U (October 2013) are coming out before Super Smash Bros and Mario Kart 8.

@Sony_70 Nintendo could get those people back by including Nike+ into Wii Fit U. That way, multiple people could run together, come back home, and add the minutes to Wii Fit Plus. (Through I'm sure Nintendo will be releasing these pedometers sold separately too for like $5) It would be much smarter then having the pedometer, but it's not like the new pedometer will raise the price of Wii Fit U so there's no point in not including it in Wii Fit Plus now.

I'm not sure if Wii Fit U is going to be the success that Nintendo is hoping for. If we look at Nintendo's other big casual games from last gen, their current gen sequels haven't done nearly as well. The Nintendogs' sequel hasn't sold badly, but has sold a fraction of the original (25 million to 3 million). That's a pretty huge drop-off. Brain Training was one of the biggest games around a few years ago, its 3DS sequel was recently released and I'm not sure if anyone actually noticed... I guess things like Wii Fit and Brain Training were very much of their time and maybe people have since lost interest and moved on. I think for the Wii Fit type of audience, Wii Fit is "like so 2008". I can't see Wii Fit U having anywhere near the same impact.
