300, Nintendo got profit from even GCN and tons of money from DS and Wii, they'll likely (at least at first) lose some money from each Wii U, but it will sell and then sell software (sadly, much better than Wii did).

We all know that the launching profits won't be sky-high at first; when did a company ever get that golden hope? When the real software kicks in, and sales increase after launch, I believe all shall be restored. And the price'll be knocked down a worm's wriggle.

I remember them saying that it won't be the same price as the Wii's launch price...so most likely 300-350.

I highly doubt it. It's a Classic Controller with Wii Motion Plus and a 6" touch screen. Considering a Wii Remote Plus with Classic Controller pro is $100, that you can get a 10" netbook (which includes RAM, CPU, HDD obviously) for $250 and that a 19" screen costs just over $100 new I would be surprised if the tablet costs much over $100AU to make.

I bet it'll be somewhere between $300 and $450

£299.99 for a Wii U with a new controller and a regular Motion Plus WiiMote. Maybe some credit for the Wii U version of the eShop to soften the blow.

If it's true that the controller costs more to produce then that would make it ultra expensive, around £280 (that's about $350 for all you in USA). Actually, i suppose that is probably what the price will be around. But, considering Nintendo's massive price rises it's gonna be expensive. I mean, the Original DS was £100 at launch, DS Lite was around £120, DSi & XL were about £180, and then the 3DS had an RRP of £230, although i got mine for £190 from Amazon.co.uk If you think about it, and i'm not saying this is a correct suspicion, but the Wii was £60 more than the DS Lite and they were launched around the same time. If you do that with the current 3DS and the Wii U, that would mean it could possibly be about £290, that's about $365. Anyone with me on those thoughts?

So, on average we're having a guess at £300 in the UK, and about $375 in the US. But the real question is, would you buy it at that price, or is Nintendo making their prices to steep for us to afford?

I'd like to think there will be a cheaper option, maybe £250, that only includes the new controller and no extra Wii MotionPlus Remotes, as some of us have enough remotes already. I'd also agree with those that suggest the new controller shouldn't actually be that expensive to manufacture, especially if they're using an old-school touch screen similar to the DS and 3DS, which tech sites seem to think is the case. Things like gyroscopes, wireless connections etc should be pretty cheap to implement by now. The console itself will cost more, as it needs the processors etc for HD graphics and to power the new controller.

Anyway, my point is that £250 would be a good price for a basic, one controller package. Any more than that and you're potentially alienating those who bought the Wii for it's good value price point in 2006.

All true. Only think is, i don't think it will be possible. If you have enhanced HD graphics that the Wii U will have they will cost a considerable amount, and considering the price of the PS3 and 360, i don't think £250 would be possible for them. On the note of the controller, it may be cheap to manufacturer, but that dosen't mean they'll sell it cheap, look at the 3ds.

I predict a price of £319.99 in the UK.

$279.99 - $299.99
The bulk of the console is controller, estimating the motion control technology could've gotten a little cheaper since the Wii, HD capabilities, um...well, that's my guess as far as the stuff i know about it goes. They wouldn't make it killingly expensive, though, it is an 6th generation console system so i'm unsure in the end.
No way I'm buying it if its over $300. I may like video games, but not to the point where i go homeless. Really.

They aren't crazy, it will be $250. They originally planned the Wii to be $100 but the flash memory costs prevented that. Memory is cheaper than ever now.

Sure, the console is much more powerful but it's an upgrade that uses some of the same technology they have been using with the Wii for years. What happend to the rumours about the motion control being better than the playstation move? I guess they will probably release that as an upgrade later on... Wii U Motion ++ ?

It will be $250
