I would just wait until the end of the year, when Smash Bros. comes out. Buying Tekken Tag 2 isn't worth as much buying yesterday, as it was on launch, and a new one is coming out. In otherwords, it would be more worthwhile to wait for the new one, than going back and playing the older entries. This goes for any game, really, unless you're getting it for like $15 or less. Also, I know you have Tekken, but I mean for the other games, too.

Maybe if Smash Bros. sells well enough, they'll release it. Who knows, right?

tekken tag on the wiiu goes for about $15 on amazon....ive scene it as low as $12. i picked it up new last christmas for $20 so he will find it cheap

I don't see the point in demanding 3D fighters, they often fail at balancing. We need more of the good stuff! Guilty Gear XRD, Skullgirls, Garou: Mark of the Wolves, Street Fighter 3 Aplha, Under Nigh In-Birth - the stuff that makes for a truly diverse experience with every character!

The highest selling Japanese console (as of right now) still isn't getting JRPGs or the basic anime fighting games like Naruto and DBZ. Just wow. We got a One Piece game, though.

I own a Wii U and 3DS. I also own a PS4!

He said he already bought it. I was just saying that it would probably be more worthwhile to hold off until some newer games come out.

Tekken is a complete different experience than the 2d "fantasy" games you mention or similars...and honestly, having played recently both guilty gear and tekken tag 2, I must say tekken is much more technical and "time based".... you can't repeat just super combos "ad infinitum" beating the other player... you have to understand when and how perform your attack... completly different way of approaching it... so, I don't think they are comparable....

@arnoldlayne83 You're joking, right? It took took me only 5 minutes to find an infinite juggle in Tag Tournament 2, and that's what it boils down to for the most part - it's a rock-paper-sciccors kind of fighter, where the first hit is almost instantly decisive for the entire round, since infinite juggles are still a thing, and that instantly kills any argument in favor of Tekken's balance.
With Guilty Gear, you have long combos, but you have to consider that long combos often deal less damage and as such waste more time than they help. Additionally, you can always counteract any attack while not reducing the game to constant counter-bashing. Of course, metagame will inevitably lead to everyone knowing the most effective combos, but still remains flexible due to no combo or attack being truly unavoidable, so you always have a fair chance.

It's still a new console. It will get some more. It has Tekken Tag Tourney 2 and Injustice atm which are both great. We're getting Smash Bros soon and I'm sure more will come.

It would be really great to have Mortal Kombat X on WiiU.
Wii didn't get Mortal Kombat 9, but it's probably because it couldn't handle it - now that the situation is pretty much even (MKX will be on PS360 as well) I really really wish NetherReal considers releasing it on WiiU. By the time the game gets released, hopefully WiiU will have its instal base doubled or even tripled if everything works out as it should.

Not very interested in Capcom fighting games at the moment (and I don't want Capcom to release a fighting game on WiiU like they were doing us a big favour and then complain for the following 5 years because it didn't sell 8 million copies).

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

I want Mortal Kombat X and any version of SFIV on Wii U.

It really annoys me that Capcom and co. won't make these games on Wii U. Injustice sold ok considering the low install base and Tekken was a really late port and sold ok for a console starting with 0 units. Same goes for Ubisoft and Stick of Truth. I can see why a business wouldn't want to lose money but these ports aren't losing money, they're just not making very much. If they actually advertised, distributed and made these games for Wii U they might actually help build the install base and improve future sales. Then after Wii U gets stripped down, late, overpriced ports with no DLC, the other consoles get super versions of these games at half the price.

I only posted this to get my avatar as the forum's thumbnail.

@Kaze_Memaryu
There are juggles in tons of games. Even Injustice and Mortal Kombat have juggles. You can use your power meter to break away from a juggle in Injustice, but it's still BS. MvC has juggling, too. Usually the player only gets to come back if they mess up the juggle. If juggling is really the complaint, then we shouldn't even be talking about anything right now.

I would love to see more, but that is why I also have a PS3. A game like Ultra Street Fighter IV could perfectly go to Wii U, but Capcom does not seem to care. Same with Street Fighter III HD online.

Yeah, it's a real shame IMO. I hate the PS3 controller, and the D-pad on the on 360 is horrific; and I'm WAY too poor to afford a stick...I'd LOVE to see more fighters on Wii U just because I love the D-Pad so much . Sadly, the community for it does not exist, especially with the weird politicking that goes on around the fight-game scheme: "Pros play PS3!!!!1" . So we probably won't be seeing many more fighters for the Wii U T_T. I did pick up Tekken Tag 2 recently just to scratch the fighter itch...I love the fricken' D-Pad...<3

I have both Tekken Tag 2 and Injustice, both great games. I also got Super SFII on the Wii U VC, the closest to an SF game we will get on the U.

I may get a stick soon, either the Tatsunoko one or a Madcatz one for PS3 and PC. Around a 100 bucks. If I ever get it I may get other fighting games I don't have like DOA5 or even one of the Blazblue games.

I will comment in this thread, never being able to find it again.

I'm well aware games take time to make and that Nintendo consoles haven't exactly gobbled up the genre in recent years. That said, people in this thread having to dress up Warriors Orochi 3 as "fighting game" in order to come up with more than two non-Smash examples is somewhat concerning.

PS4 has Injustice and XB1 has Killer Instinct, with MKX on both forthcoming. All three consoles have a lack of fighters right now.

So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.

MrGawain

I bought Tekken Tag and Injustice, and will be buying Smash. Hoping for Pokken Fighters to rear its head as well. The question I ask though is why some form of SF4 isn't on the Wii U?

Isn't it obvious that Falco Lombardi is actually a parrot?

You guys are forgetting EA Sports UFC. I don't like those realistic fighters, but apparently, a lot of people do.

The PS4 will also be getting Guilty Gears and Skullgirls soon. I'm sure there will be more, but those two have actually been announced.

Meh, I just picked up both BlazBlue games on Vita and plan to get Smash this holiday. Looks like I still don't have to buy a PS4.

I wish that the Wii U had some more fighters, it seems crazy that DOA5 got ported to the Vita but not the Wii U. What's even crazier is that games like Soulcalibur 2 HD didn't get a Wii U port.

I'll just stick with Injustice for now and will pick up Smash Bros. Any other Wii U fighters will probably have to come from indies.
