Topic: Why won't my game download to USB storage?

I connected a USB drive (with a Y cable) to my Wii U in order to download my platinum reward of DK:TF

The device was recognized and formatted and shows up in data management as having 74 GB free.

I then entered my download ticket in the eshop and it defaults to downloading the game to system memory. I see no way to change the location, the message says USB storage will automatically be prioritized and prompts me to go to data management. It seems the ticket is not redeemed until I am able to download it, I been trying things and in order to try to download again I need to enter my ticket. If I don't get a response here quickly I will deal with calling Nintendo I guess.....

Never mind, I figured it out.

I had played the game previously and there was save data and update data in the system memory. I just had to read the message more carefully. I moved that data to USB and then the download defaulted to USB storage.
