I'll be honest, I don't have a problem with Sony at all, but PS4's continued success solely based on amazing marketing would annoy me a bit.
I'm going with Wii U. I like underdogs I suppose, and it has the 2 best games coming out. Though like Ps4 and its not amazing current lineup (key word being current obviously), it should be despite its issues, not because of them.

Yeah I'll be honest I love Sony too, but there line up is horrible right now. Even Xbox One has better exclusives and I hate Xbox One, so that's tough for me to say. I'm more of a Ratchet and Clank, Sly Cooper and Uncharted guy. Infamous looks great and all, but still not going to rush out and buy a new system for it. I'd totally understand if people do though since I know that game has quite the following.

The Wii U will definitely do way better this year there's just no way they can't when they have smash and MK 8 coming. Will it be the must own console during Christmas? Who knows. You make it sound like Sony and MS are just gonna sit there and do nothing for the rest of the year which they will definitely not do sir.
EDIT: oh I thought you meant #1 console if we go into gifts well that can include anything and well who doesn't love having a smartphone nowadays.
1. THE GAMES: Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Smash bros, and Watchdogs.
There will be more games of course but these titles were made from the ground up for WII U (correct me about watchdogs but I believe I've read ubisoft are working on the WII U version separately to PS4 and XB1), so these titles, I think everybody will agree, is one great hand at the poker table!
As long as Nintendo advertises the crap out of these games and I mean really goes for it with T.V ads, shop displays, social media, and of course, I think the best advertising is by people seeing the console and games in friends houses!
Also with MK8 and SSB a well advertised, massive online world competition I think would entice people to buy machines and games.
Also the arrival of DS games on the eshop could really shift units, there are millions of DS users who would love to play Pokemon on big screens in there bedrooms. But it must be shown to people and it really must work !
Maybe this will be enough to get Nintendo fans back on board, but for it to be "Number 1 Christmas present", it needs to have a better lineup than this. Mario Kart 8 and Smash Bros are probably going to be good games, but so far there's very little about them that stands out compared to other iterations in their respective franchises (of course there's always room for more news on new and exciting features, but I doubt that's going to happen given Nintendo's track record on Wii U software). They can't simply appeal to Nintendo fans if they want the Wii U to be THAT popular, they need new experiences, which is something Nintendo has for the most part failed to offer. Bayonetta probably isn't going to do much better than any other third party so far. Watch Dogs is multiplatform, so that doesn't draw in gamers who would stick with Microsoft and Sony. The only one of these games that stands a chance would be X, and that's not really going to be enough. It needs to be paired with better games if Wii U to reach the level of success you're hoping for.
3. THE NEWLY ANNOUNCED NON WEARABLE HEALTH PROGRAMME: now I don't know much about this, but it it's shown at E3, and its another great Nintendo idea like WII Fit was then it really could be the feather in the cap for Nintendo sales this Xmas! Unfortunately none of us know much about it but I do know this! Its another selling point for Nintendo and a buying point for older people.
So With the great games, the machine working at full power with all the features running, if your one of the millions of parents who will be asked to buy a console this year, the WII U will finally seem to be a serious competitor in the war (unless your a pure graphics whore then writing and opinion doesn't matter to you anyway), and could maybe have the best line up this Xmas! Think about it, it's a possibility, and also imagine at E3 we are shown Zelda HD and possibly a new metroid! BOOM!
The non wearable is going to be a different product entirely, and will most likely not benefit the Wii U (maybe their next console, but not Wii U).
I see the Wii U doing moderately better this year, but most likely not becoming insanely popular like the Wii. It's probably going to be more like the Gamecube in the end.
I'm I the only one who doesn't care about DS games or the long promised GBA games on Wii U. If they were on the 3DS on the other hand (like my ambassador games already)
