Topic: Why WII U will be this years NUMBER 1 Xmas present

There is a lot of news ( good and bad ) about Nintendo at the moment, so I've put all the stories together and I'm quite happy to report that amongst all the negativity we are hearing, there is a very clear path to success ! So here's why WII U can easily be Xmas no.1......
1. THE GAMES: Mario Kart 8, Bayonetta 2, Smash bros, and Watchdogs.
There will be more games of course but these titles were made from the ground up for WII U (correct me about watchdogs but I believe I've read ubisoft are working on the WII U version separately to PS4 and XB1), so these titles, I think everybody will agree, is one great hand at the poker table!
As long as Nintendo advertises the crap out of these games and I mean really goes for it with T.V ads, shop displays, social media, and of course, I think the best advertising is by people seeing the console and games in friends houses!
Also with MK8 and SSB a well advertised, massive online world competition I think would entice people to buy machines and games.
Also the arrival of DS games on the eshop could really shift units, there are millions of DS users who would love to play Pokemon on big screens in there bedrooms. But it must be shown to people and it really must work !
2. GET THE FEATURES WORKING: I know nintendo are addressing it, but it needs to be very soon. As it stands if we go on the E3 2011 presentation where the WII U showed the NFC capabilities, and the TVII and steaming features, the WII U is not working as it should be. So why would somebody buy a WII if in 2014 we still aren't getting it? It looks like Nintendo don't give a f#*k which we know they do, but to new customers its not a good look. It's like buying a 3 wheeled Lamborghini, still quality, but just doesn't do it!
Before the incoming big games arrive that potentially could sell A LOT of consoles, nintendo must fix this, because if somebody wants to buy a new console, consumers expect this.... a quality machine (check), great games (check, see 1 and great multimedia and other entertainment streaming facilities (err not really no Nintendo, come on guys fix it, i know it's not really anything to do with quality games, but people want it, and you promised it!
But hopefully before Xmas we will be enjoying the multimedia side of WII U.
3. THE NEWLY ANNOUNCED NON WEARABLE HEALTH PROGRAMME: now I don't know much about this, but it it's shown at E3, and its another great Nintendo idea like WII Fit was then it really could be the feather in the cap for Nintendo sales this Xmas! Unfortunately none of us know much about it but I do know this! Its another selling point for Nintendo and a buying point for older people.
So With the great games, the machine working at full power with all the features running, if your one of the millions of parents who will be asked to buy a console this year, the WII U will finally seem to be a serious competitor in the war (unless your a pure graphics whore then writing and opinion doesn't matter to you anyway), and could maybe have the best line up this Xmas! Think about it, it's a possibility, and also imagine at E3 we are shown Zelda HD and possibly a new metroid! BOOM!

To conclude, with the best games coming, the price staying low and getting lower, and nintendo's plans to enter the Heath market again the WII U will do what the WII did previously did and appeal to everyone, thus, shifting millions of units !

I am pretty sure this year will be better than last, just give us a great Nintendo Direct/E3 and will be in business.

We'll see.

I think you could have just said 'Super Smash Bros' and it'd have been perfectly accurate. Nothing the Xbox One or PS4 can get will top that game. Ever.

I have to admit, that made me laugh like heck.

People around here were saying the same thing for 2013 and that didn't work out so well.

Keep in mind that Nintendo's 'brilliant' business planning shot down that one. Back when Mario Kart and Donkey Kong Country were meant to be 2013 games, this idea was kind of plausible. Then Nintendo did their 'let's delay games and shoot ourselves in the head business wise' thing and it all went to hell.

Part of me wants to tell Miyamoto:

Oh sure, a delayed game might potentially be good, but you know what? A game being worked on by a company losing sales at an alarming rate that immediately shuts down is as good as worthless. Or more precisely, real artists ship (as in release products).

But I'm confident 2014 will better. So long as Nintendo don't say 'hey, Smash Bros is now delayed until 2015 because we can't just release a game to a bloody schedule'.

I personally don't think Nintendo will have a year as bad as last year. But I still think the Wii U will struggle. Am sorry but crapping out Mario after Mario will not help. I look at Mario in the same way as I do in Call Of Duty now. Which is a very big mehhhh another COD/Mario game and am sure a lot of people think the same these days.

It is to early to say what the most wanted console is come Xmas 2014. But I think if Sony can get The Order, Uncharted out this year then the PS4 will be the most wanted this year. This is all just my opinion so please don't see it as fact.

1-Nintendo is not even close to shutting down.

2-A bad, rushed up game can destroy a reputation (especially of one who is as revered in quality as Nintendo). Which can be either very difficult or even impossible to recover from. Not to mention great games can outlive their creators.

A lot could happen between now and Christmas and I'd say the Wii U definitely has potential. It's going to have to have a CASUAL price and and very good game line-up to get more people. Who knows what Nintendo is going to have up their sleeve this year, let's just hope it's not disappointment.
