I don't see anything wrong with it. It's not my taste, but there are people who do like the mature content of Seran Kagura Burst, because its unique. I won't judge, because there are people who don't like the art style of Kirby's Epic Yarn. It suits me though.
My dad told the Wal★Mart clerk that it was ok for me to buy RE4 when it came out. I was 12, and then I saw kids play the Wii version.
Thank you for that interesting, but irrelevant contribution.
The point is, there is no real justification as to why some people are complaining about the content in some games.
There is a way for you not to be affected by such content.
Don't look.

And can you go a little faster?!
Parents should also have the final say on what their kids are playing. If a parent says yes to an M rated game or no to a T rated game, that is their right and responsibility as a parent.
@Aviator
I was replying with this comment in mind. My dad said ya, because all he thought was "video game".

Video games should be able to include whatever the creator intended the video game to include, simple as that. If the artistic vision of game creator includes violent depictions either grounded in reality or in an over-the-top nature then so be it, if not that's fine too. There needs to be diversity in the gaming world, just like there is in all other forms of entertainment, so that everyone can find something that they enjoy, not all grounded around a particular person/group/way of thinking etc. The fact remains that you aren't forced to play any game that includes these elements, and there are people in the world who enjoy those elements for whatever reasons, so let them enjoy it. It's just a matter of personal preference and it will always be that way, so it's better to accept the fact that these elements are always going to be present in some games, and just move on and enjoy the type of games that you enjoy.
tbh, this thread could've become way dumber. Like a blackhole of intelligence.
I will say while I don't tend to care if a game does or doesn't have M-rated content as long as has good gameplay, story etc, Nintendo has more and more become the savior of family friendly gaming in AAA-land. I mean, I watched MTV and played Mortal Kombat as a kid but I mostly didn't grow up with "offensive" material and I find it hard to justify the very extreme over-reliance of that in AAA gaming. But just in how these types of games end up...being like, if I just played mature titles, it would just be too constantly dark and serious and/or offensive, and that just gets old after too long. Probably one of the reasons for the rise of indies and DEFINITELY a reason why kids are more and more interested in mobile games and the like. I like the variety and Nintendo fills that type of gaming that sometimes feels increasingly rare for quality retail releases, for just fun games without feeling the need to specifically appeal beyond a kid demographic. It's kinda perfect in a way, as the lack of more mature (or at least lack of obvious enough mature that the ESRB can find ) makes the M-rated games mean more and those games make the E-rated games a nice change of pace, repeat until the end of time.
It all depends on what the creator wants the world of games to be in. Nintendo wants gamers to escape reality and enjoy with friends and familes so they won't make any violence that affects their image so they use it only to a good extent like Star Fox or Fire Emblem.
I think it really depends on how it's presented. I would consider RE6 as part of the over the top scene. RE went from being "zombie surprise", to "a zombie in your face". I don't really mind, but I think what we expect from these "mature" titles has changed, anyway. The same thing happened to Dead Space. It went from being about a silent protagonist that killed necromorphs to a protagonist that wouldn't shut his mouth about how dangerous and risky everything was. That s*** is a given.
GTA has basically stayed the same, and CoD will always be "war simulator".
I do think there is a reason why violent games exist, but they've lost their touch. We might as well say a zombie movie from the 80's was ok, but not one from 2010.

and that's why Kirby is my favorite game series, it's so high quality that not even being super pink and cute makes it bad and where I live even COD and GTA fans respect Kirby games(not kidding)
and I'm fine with M games I just don't like realistic stuff, it's so boring to do something in a game I wished from the bottom of my heart to steer away from in real life(in Brazil every man must enlist to the army when it turns 18 and I never wanted to do so)

Soldiers of the culture wars out in force again, glad I didn't see this thread earlier. If you don't like the games, movies, books or TV shows go and do something else. Enjoy the content that you like, ignore the stuffs that you don't. People put too much effort into whining about content that they don't like.
Also OP, Twilight Princess? Seriously? What that scene with Midna and Zant I assume? Wow...........
Some playlists: Top All Time Songs, Top Last Year
"Don't stir the pot" is a nice way of saying "they're too dumb to reason with"
Because if there is something really controversial in there, kids will want to buy because they think it's 'cool'.
the worst part is that it's true............. M games are more appealing to early teens that want to prove something to themselves...

Like many, I grew up playing Mortal Kombat and watching Fist of the North Star, but the older I get, the more contents such as violence and sexuality have started to become less and less attractive. The shock value is gone, and with age you start to crave for more sophisticated experiences.
Of course these things have a place in games as they have in other media - the problem is that violence just for the sake of shocking or sexuality just for the sake of arousing are, in my opinion, stale and childish.
I have a dark sense of humour so I usually enjoy when blood and violence interweave with comedy, but the authors who can do it with taste and significance are very few. Same with sex - it's a theme that can be tackled but it's very hard to do it properly and artistically. So, as a general rule, I stay away from games with such themes.
Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

While it all might not be necessary, I would rather fight to allow sexuality, violence, and profanity to be used freely in fictional entertainment than try to somehow morally judge each and every instance of them to determine which pieces of art are deemed worthy of utilizing those topics.

I want back the brain cells I have lost from reading this thread. Pointless subjective ranting. Let people enjoy what they like.
This is exactly what I wanted to say, but you put it way more simply than I was going to, so thanks. :3
guess I did right to look at the title, look at the post say to my self "too long won't read" and consider the title had all important info(I like my brain cells)

I agree with the topic starter. I mean, they have games in japan where you get points for raping someone. That's going way over the line. People who need that to enjoy their life are pathetic losers who can't enjoy true creativity.
Why do people keep bringing this up? It isn't new. There have been porn games since the video game industry started. Even back in the Atari days
People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...
