You should look into a different console if you want third party support.

Hopefully you already knew this.

@Chrono_Cross Don't turn this into a pissing contest right now. @PhoenixUltra's question is a legitimate one, and this is no place for your obsessive hatred to deviate him from an actual answer.

As for you, @PhoenixUltra, Nintendo has many other events planned throughout the week. This wasn't the end of it all. Does that somewhat satisfy your curiosity?

@Nobodys_Angel He doesn't have an obsessive hatred. @Chrono_Cross is right, Nintendo will get left behind by most third-party support and if you want it you should look into another console. The answer to the question is that Wii U doesn't have the sales to justify ports, and soon it won't be powerful enough to run third-party games which would make porting impossible or much more costly to get it to run right.

@Nobodys_Angel But he does have a point. Most 3rd party "hardcore" game companies find the PS360 (or rather the PS4/Xbone) the better platform to release their games since both systems have already established a defined demographic for those kinds of games. Simply put, expect most of those WiiU 3rd party software to be multiplatform. We were shown some 3rd party games in the direct, but we all knew they were coming. If that's what Nintendo meant, I suggest to the TC to save some extra cash for a PS4 if he wants great 3rd party support.

Folks, the competition hasn't even started yet. Two console manufactures haven't even released their systems. We can't say for sure how Nintendo will handle third party games because we are still in that weird transition period where some games get released only on the older hardware because they are already established systems. Let's not be premature, sheesh.

His question was where were all the new 3rd party games for the WiiU during the direct. Maybe it's too early to say there aren't any, but I was giving him a suggestion based on his implied frustration with the Direct that maybe he should also give a look on other consoles for some 3rd party exclusives. I'm not hating on the WiiU r anything, but it's basically a 1st Party machine at this point at least thats what I see from the E3 Direct.

He was asking for new 3rd party titles, none of which were shown which prompted me to give him a suggestion. As for the already known 3rd party titles, they were featured in a short showcase in the direct without much description Which you can watch here.

Honestly expect one system to be able to do everything is kinda of dumb. Its called competition. If you want both Nintendo type games and great third party games than get two systems. Thats all their is to it.

I sorta have a theory:

Nintendo's view of their consoles as toys aimed at families for the most part in general doesn't align well with many people, particularly people in western countries. And just as importantly, Nintendo sees their devices as something for families to enjoy. Now with recent statistics implying that the average age for the gaming crowd are young adults, the industry had probably shifted their focus towards the older gaming crowd. And the company may now be torn between achieving their vision and meeting the general gaming crowd's expectations that show otherwise. That can explain the abundance of E-to-T-Rated games they've made, the constant reliance on a few franchises to sustain themselves (kids), the consoles' not-so-sexy looks, and their strict policies regarding children.

If anybody wonders about their apparent reluctance to adopt the latest and greatest, not much can be investigated from I at least. But it might just have something to do with how people in Japan view life

Hope that helps a bit...

That was a really nice read and, I believe, has a lot of truth to it. Nintendo has never really "pushed aside" their Japanese culture. Look at the 3DS and the Street Pass idea. It was quite obviously made with their own culture in mind. TONS of people in Japan flooding the streets, freely using video game systems no matter what age you are - it's not like that over here. You can try and mimic that environment in our larger cities to a certain degree, but at least for me I wouldn't be caught dead walking around my town with a 3DS out in the open. I took my 3DS on a trip to Baltimore the other week and only came away with 3 Street Passes. Woof. It's just not the same, and being Westerners we tend to forget about the whole other side of Nintendo's business over in Japan.

"The WiiU is still suffering in sales at the moment and for most it's not worth the risk to put the games on for little payoff." Says most 3rd party developers.
Nintendo announced a buncha games (and probably yet-to-be announced market and/or other tactics) to help reverse the WiiU drought.
Unfortunately, till that happens we're gonna have to keep playing the waiting game for more the 3rd parties to start swarming in..... You don't have'ta play that game if you dont want to.

I also want to add that Nintendo never tries to "win" the console generation. They do what they feel is comfortable. I honestly don't think they care much about the competition. When you see Nintendo's actions through the lens of them not caring if they outsell MS or Sony, it makes a lot more sense.

3rd paries not releasing games for Wii U is 3rd party faults. Wii U already has a bigger install base, and that will grow even more so when games from Nintendo start coming out.
Nintendo has no control over this, so you should be asking, "Why, _________(insert 3rd party name here)?"
I understand why they don't want to, AS OF NOW, but it won't really matter until the said game not on Wii U is actually ready to be released.
If Destiny was coming out tommorow(which is a pretty big game), and there was no word of a Wii U version. I would be concerned.
While 3rd parties are making the final touches on their games, Wii U sales and fan numbers will grow, and if the 3rd parties see that while more than just Wii U is available(Xbox One and PS4), they'll port the games over last second if they have to, if they know it will get them a great sales number.
The 4 million people that have bought Wii U, are either hardcore gamers(which want the games obviously), or kids, which want to play any game in existence.
If you're not convinced Nintendo will be fine, and things will pick up, I would suggest getting a different console instead of asking questions on a Nintendo forum that don't really make any sense, because we knew this all along.
Wii U getting a good install base is the priority, but there is still plenty of time before the lack of 3rd party games actually matters.
