It's simple, one was created for gaming and the other is a phone/tablet/whatever, that's what makes DS vastly superior
So what? you compared GTA V and said it was better than every single game based in "my logic"
None of this makes sense, phones suck, aren't meant for serious games, sure there are some good gems there, but ultimately a console/portable will be better library than that of an smartphone's appstore full of millions of apps and just a few hundred good things
I never knew the DS was superior to IOS because it was manufactured for video games. That logic, right there, is why we're doomed.
You should be happy that video games are reaching outb to broader audiences with some of the games we loved as kids (Mega Man X, Final Fantasy, ChronoTrigger), but no, you're too busy soaking in your own pride to accept that other companies are doing things right.
Now, you're lost because you re-evaluated your own logic under different conditions? Oh, wow.

You saying this has discredited everything you have been trying to prove.
Lol, not really
these games you wrote are good, fun and creative sure, but none, none of them really can be as deep as a DS game could be, just casual games. Some simple one-tap games
wait wait wait, gunstar heroes is on app store?! how did i not know that.
because selling a game that isn't already popular on iOS and expecting people to know it exists is the equivalent expecting people to know that unfinished RPG Maker fan game I played 8 years ago. Now go play your Clash of Clans and almost nothing else.

No, no, the DS is a superior gaming platform than iOS for that reason.
You know what, i don't even know how any one can argue that iOS is a better platform for games and gaming than a portable console, maybe it is better for etertainment overall but really ir amazes me to see people actually say things like that, everyone's entitled to their own opinion anyways.

Play Monument Valley, then get back to me and say it's not as deep as a DS game.

True to a large extent, but give it 5-7 years, and there will be virtually no difference between complexity between phone and console games. I hope nintendo makes a smartphone or a feature for texting/calling/GOOD web browsing/apps in their next handheld. I would rather support nintendo than samsung or apple.

I never understood this mentality. Sure they might be your preferred company, but both Samsung and Apple have had years of experience over Nintendo, and will produce higher quality software and hardware for years.

woah, i don't know where that attack came from, I was just surprised i didn't hear about Gunstar on iOS. I do play Clash, but I also have Chaos Ring, Shining Force, FFTactics, and other junk on my iPod.
About the Wii U, I think this points to an end of the gaming industry as we know it. Yes, I realize the PS4 is selling great, I just think that the industry is widening too much and with smartphones, people are less attracted to the dedicated systems. I honestly think VR is the final frontier in games, and it's coming soon. But with VR it might end up being more than a gaming medium...

Didn't you say I wasn't understanding your posts fully? Sort of ironic given you're not getting my point.
My point was that iOS games are just as much games as DS, 3DS, Wii, and every other form of video game out there. Regardless of varying factors, they all games, but you continue to think they're not. Taking pride into a company's product is an unhealthy exercise.
Yes, everyone has an opinion, but yours is plagued with ignorance and blindness. Be optimistic.

Topic started with why nobody is buying the Wii U.
Someone said that it is because of the touchscreen gimmick.
iOS and Android games uses touchscreens.
Not derailed. Thread has progressed.

my attack is more against the people who play the same games over and over again cough nsmb2 is still a joke and everyone who bought it is a sheep cough
Why isn't anyone buying the Wii U?
A lot of the people I've spoken to don't even realize that it's a new system. I had a small party the other night and all my friends were clueless as to what this "thing" (the gamepad) on my shelf was and why I bought "this expensive add-on for the Wii when i could have bought a PS4". When I explained, they didn't even realize Nintendo had a new system.
So it's that, mixed with the disinterest in the touch screen gimmick (that I've only found really useful for Zelda and Netflix), the "Nintendo is for kids" mentality, the obsession with graphics and the lack of third party support (believe it or not, I know people who buy the new NHL game every single year).

Exactly, the Xbox and PlayStation offer a wide variety of genres. I don't know why people keep saying PlayStation and Xbox owners play nothing but violent first-person shooters when sports games (especially Madden and FIFA), racing games and RPGs are consistently the best sellers year after year. I own a Wii U for Nintendo's excellent first-party titles and an Xbox 360 (Xbox One some day) for everything else.
I'm in the same position as my brother just bought me a 360 (long story) and I've had a Wii U since launch. I will have to argue against the 360's "variety" though. I went to buy some games for the thing and I was hard-pressed to find anything that wasn't a rated M, "hardcore"/"dudebro", killing spree. There are other genres, but the ones people flock to are these very games described above that are GOTY and sell millions upon millions of units.
I own a PS1, GBA, GBA SP, Wii (GCN), 360, 3DS, PC (Laptop), Wii U, and PS4.
I used to own a GBC, PS2, and DS Lite

But nintendo won't go third party for phones, so I would rather have a single device that played games and had internet and texting.
