Gx didn't do as well as it should have (there were like 2-3 big racing titles on the console released the next few months that sold much better).

Just a guess but I think the same thing happened with F Zero that happened with Viewtiful Joe. They tried to make it a big series, with an anime and everything and even a tie-in game for the anime but it didn't work so they gave up. Unlike Viewtiful Joe which was killed because Capcom expected worse marketing and worse games to sell better (at least, that's what I remember), I think it was a dumb idea to try to make F-Zero a Zelda or Pokemon level series in the first place.

It's got potential to live on in the eShop. Sequel for download?

F-Zero GX > MK Double Dash

F-Zero isn't the only series that Nintendo's forgotten. Star Fox, Metroid, and EarthBound.

For me F-Zero just seemed so... (and sorry for saying but) Meh. I mean when my family got the Snes, I bought Super Mario kart and after playing its future sequels the F-Zero series just didn't have the wacky Item throwing fun that makes Mario kart chaotic and fun at the same time.

Wasn't there a Metroid game released less than two years ago? And a Star Fox game less than a year ago?

The series has suffered several games that were below par (some of which weren't even released in the West)

Metroid turned 25 just like Mario and Zelda, did Nintendo celebrate? Nope, its the 3rd wheel completely. I didn't mean neglected game wise, although we could use some more Metroid games. Star Fox 64 3D doesn't count, that's a remake.

With them finally giving us another Kid Icarus game, I think it is fair to say that we might see the revival of other game series. I myself would love to see a 3D style Ice Climber game, really would love to see how they could upgrade it. Have been in love with the NES version for quite some time, still play it.

Have you played the GameCube one? It's by far the best game in the series. Much better than the SNES one, GBA ones, and even better than the N64 one.

I think a series counts as a "forgotten series" if it hasn’t made an appearance for the current console AND the company hasn’t announced any plans for it............
But that can all change with time so hopefully the Wii U can bring back some of those "forgotten series” I tired of how alot of gamers today see Nintendo as only Mario, Zelda, etc. If Nintendo brought back their "forgotten series" maybe gamers would appreciate Nintendo for more than Mario, etc. Nintendo has made so many GREAT series that haven’t made an appearance for some time now.

F-Zero is a pretty difficult series. GX was the first (and so far only) game to make me break a controller in frustration (Story Mode).

I'm pretty sure Itoi said that mother 3 concluded the mother storyline and that he won't be making any more.

Neglected in the sense that we only got 1 official release out of 3 games outside of Japan. Nintendo of America acts like EarthBound doesn't exist.
