Reviewers DON'T want to like it, because that would mean Nintendo is actually doing something right, this game isn't meant for all and Ubisoft EVEN said that !

I can't recall a negative review for Resident Evil 1 and 2, or REmake for that matter. Those games were pretty much universally praised.

@brooks83
Even IGN nailed RE3: Nemesis(My personal second fav' in the franchise) a 9..5 or 9.6. Code Veronica which is my least favorite in the traditional series seemed to drift in the 8's and Zero got the weakest reviews period....(although far from bad, unless you count in IGN's Wii 'Archives' review. Didn't it score a 4.5? What a load of Beebop Sh**. Zero to me is either a 7.5 or a luke warm 8.

Anyways! If there isn't going to be a Demo any time soon, i'd rather just take the risk and buy ZombiU in dec. I'm also interested in Tekken Tag Tournament 2....Everybody knows that will turn out great, it's a given.

I'm only about 2 hours into the game so far but I'm really diggin' it. It's pretty intense though. Knowing just one bite from an infected and it's GAME OVER is pretty stressfull. I haven't really got very far as I've been taking my time and creeping around. In the two hours I've played, I've only managed to find a cricket bat and a pistol with about 17 rounds. I've defeated about seven or eight zombies and beat the daylights out of every other corpse I've found just so it doesn't rise up behind me. I'm on my way to the supermarket to activate a few more CCTV cameras.

The beginning of the game is pretty harrowing. Make sure you have the volume turned up so you can hear the instructions. Then, run like hell because there are zombies everywhere. I probably passed a few items that I could have looted, but I didn't care. RUN!

Haven't died yet!

After playing it for a bit I can honestly say it's probably because it's a deeply flawed flawed title. I'm not saying it's a bad game (I actually kinda liked it) but I can easily see why some wouldn't be able to overlook the numerous issues that have been mentioned in reviews.

The funny thing is that everybody who has spent time with this game really enjoys it. I wonder how much time the "professional" reviewers spent on it.

It's clearly a marmelade title. People complaining about low review scores need to take 2 things into account: the words the reviewer used to justify the score, and the fact that if it only got high ratings, it wouldn't be fair to all the people who end up regretting buying it. If you're into extremely-hard survival horror and you don't mind hitting dozens of zombies 5 times with a cricket bat for hours, then this is probably a good game for you.

I myself prefer more variety, so I'm glad there's reviews warning people of the negatives.

"But repetitive gameplay isn't an issue in survival horror games, because it's realistic!"

Sure it is, to plenty of people. Including me.

This whole "reviewers only play the game for 3 minutes and only score high when the publisher pays them a big bonus" crap's really annoying. Read several reviews, get a balanced opinion, and decide if a game is right for you. It's not rocket science.

a game being hard is not a reason to review it low its not a flaw it is supposed to be that way some people like a challenge some people whine about it and complain they don't have enough guns and ammo none of them mentioned any technical issues really I don't see how you can give a game a 4.5 because its hard and you got to hit a zombie in the head with a cricket bat 4 times or so

Thanks for posting that review, it seemed pretty detailed. I am bummed to find out though that there may be time frame of over an hour befoer a save point. I hardly play games anymore for over an hour at a time.

Where did I say it got bad reviews because it was hard? I said it got bad reviews because it's repetitive. If they made hitting zombies with a cricket bat for hours fun, the game probably would've scored higher. Maybe they should've added more melee weapons.

@tealovertoma: There actually are a fair bit more melee weapons from what I remember in older gameplay vids (pickaxes, crowbars etc.) as well as one-use ranged weapons (Molotov cocktails, for one) and other stuff. They're things you need to scavenge for viligantly and loot from the infected.

Let us not judge a man by the colour of his skin, but by the character he chooses to battle with in Brawl.

Challenge is only praised to an extent. It all depends on the game, really.

I know there can be disagreement on this, but the reviews I have read from people that seem to have spent time on the game are for the most part positive. I too have seen the pick axe, and I am betting you do not have to hit the zombie near as many times if you have the pick axe. As for repetitive game play. It is hard to find a game today that doesn't fit into that category. People were loving Arkham Asylum, and that was pretty repetitive. There is only so much you can do. Even a FPS gets repetitive unless you are into multiplayer.

The fact of the matter is this is a niche game. Not everyone is into survival horror. I think it is an ambitious title. It is outside the box. Most of the time that is going to be met with mixed reviews. You could say the same for Sports games, Fighting Games, Point-and-Click games, etc. the list could go on.

Really good video here of a guy from ONM who really likes the game.

Also i would love to hear peoples official opinions of the game as we are all moaning (myself included) that the reviews are not good but what do you guys and girls think of the game that have bought it?

the part where you said ( it wouldn't be fair to people buying it if you're into extremely hard survival horror ) and that's my point it was basically marked down because it was to hard its like the reviewer was more frustrated than anything else I bet he never did find that pick ax lol I can understand knocking a game because its tedious but a 4.5 states the game is basically unplayable and that isn't fair at all

I wasn't implying that the game was being praised for it being difficult I was using dark souls as an example . like someone saying its a horrible game because you can't get past the first area in dark souls its a game that takes time to find out the true charm that the game really is and maybe this is the case in this game as well.
