I don't like the sound of the repetitive combat. I'm probably skipping this game.
To be quite honest, I think the perception of repetitive combat in Zombi U is subjective to the in-game approach of the player. I've watched quite a few Zombi U videos, where players each used their own respective tactics and strategies, and the best ones I've seen were able to adapt to flexible methods of combat in varying situations.
I really think Zombi U is a very... divisive game. There is no one dominant approach to it, much less in combat. It's better judged individually.

Could be. All I really need to know myself though is that there's one weapon to use after you've run out of ammo, and that weapon is a slow solution for killing the enemies and not fun to use. Not to mention the repetitive grunts the characters shout every time you use it.
Not saying I wouldn't enjoy it. Cause I most definitely would if I bought it. It's just not worth the money to me.. Right now.
In a few years time ZombiU will have a sequel called ZombiU 2, it'll no longer be set in London, and it'll be set in a futuristic Wild West metropolis, and it'll be cel shaded. And most of all it'll be named the most badass game of all time.

yeah I don't like the "7 = mediocre" thing but there's a reason for it. There's no reason someone should normally want to buy a 7 quality game when so many 9 quality games exist. So if it's not a 9, you could get a game that is a 9, thus getting a better game. Especially since most people can only afford so much. However, I can use games like Fragile Ruins and Kirby Air Ride alone to destroy the logic of that, but there is logic to it.
I always viewed 6 as a "mediocre" score with 7 being "good."
Really it just depends on how interested in the game you are. I can't really say why the reviews are so mixed, but going by Metacritic, it does have quite a few good scores.

not everyone has the same taste and I for one will not go buy a game just because some one on a review site gave it a 9 I've play a whole bunch of lackluster 9 rated games before . I say read the review and find out what they like and didn't like about the game and then watch some game play of it or wait for a demo or umm idk rent the thing first
I do not agree with reviewers on several occasions. The first Epic Mickey was hammered on, and I understand what there issues were. However, I thought it was a great story. I love Disney in almost every form. Therefore, I didn't agree with there final score.
It is a lot like a movie. I will go watch a movie if I want to see it, and it usually doesn't matter at all what the critic thinks. Now, I use more caution on a game because I'm paying five times more, but if the story looks interesting and they just don't come out and tell me it's broken, I will usually play it. I may wait for a price drop, but I'll eventually get around to it. That would explain why my back log is so stinking big.
Reviewers DON'T want to like it, because that would mean Nintendo is actually doing something right, this game isn't meant for all and Ubisoft EVEN said that !

I'm only about 2 hours into the game so far but I'm really diggin' it. It's pretty intense though. Knowing just one bite from an infected and it's GAME OVER is pretty stressfull. I haven't really got very far as I've been taking my time and creeping around. In the two hours I've played, I've only managed to find a cricket bat and a pistol with about 17 rounds. I've defeated about seven or eight zombies and beat the daylights out of every other corpse I've found just so it doesn't rise up behind me. I'm on my way to the supermarket to activate a few more CCTV cameras.
The beginning of the game is pretty harrowing. Make sure you have the volume turned up so you can hear the instructions. Then, run like hell because there are zombies everywhere. I probably passed a few items that I could have looted, but I didn't care. RUN!
After playing it for a bit I can honestly say it's probably because it's a deeply flawed flawed title. I'm not saying it's a bad game (I actually kinda liked it) but I can easily see why some wouldn't be able to overlook the numerous issues that have been mentioned in reviews.
