Did Nintendo ever explain why they didn't put Ethernet on the Wii U? I play fighting games and cutting down lag is very important. Plus, in a college environment I can't even get my 3DS to hook up with the wifi cause I can't configure the settings so I don't know what's with that. I can't even figure out how to get the USB wifi adapter to pick my 3ds up.
What I'm saying is for situations where wifi is not as compatible with a gaming system such as a dorm environment Ethernet could get by that. But Wii U has no Ethernet. It would kind of suck to have no internet when I get my Wii U. I just wanted to know if Nintendo ever say why they only do wireless and not have a wired option too for the less fortunate.
This doesn't count businesses, and I'm pretty sure no one is using a single Wii U to run a small business.
Yes but this is going to be the only option available to Wii U for its whole cycle and areas at least in London have now got the option to have like 300mb/s plus technology improves in leaps and bounds just look at the progress made in a decade who knows were we will be in 5 or 10 years from now when breakthroughs like this happen. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-25840502

Ya, we're not there yet. If speeds over 480mb/s become a common thing, Nintendo will adapt. The future is not today.
What I'm trying to highlight is that Nintendo could have very easily put in 3.0 ports on the Wii U and updated the Ethernet adapter just to be prepared but again they are to reserved.

Being prepared is different than being outdated.

3.0 was standard by the time Wii U released so it is technically outdated.
I played Brawl online using ethernet today. There was about a half second delay, the best I've ever gotten. Way back when Brawl came out I used to use wireless and I was getting like a 1.5 second delay. All other online games work well, little to no lag.
I've gotten about a half seconf of lag over wireless on Smash Bros. It cuts out and freezes, sometimes, though. It's basically unplayable, so I don't get why people try to play. It only works like from city to city or something...

I usually try about once a year and say, "Oh, yeah." Then go back to playing offline.
I tried it a couple months ago. There was actually people trying to play. I had the fastest internet. The way I know, is because I could move around, but no one else could. Once other people besides me started moving, it would freeze.
I have 9mb/s. Oh well... The new one won't have any problems.
