Seriously this system's exclusives blow the other home consoles this gen away...I have an Xbox One but I play my Wii U way more.

Every week threads like this pop up; Why does everybody hate the Wii U? Why does nobody like the Wii U? The Wii U is actually a reall good system! etc. People are defending the Wii U, but there's hardly anyone attacking the system. It doesn't sell like the Wii did, but that doesn't mean people dislike the Wii U. I don't dislike the PS4, but I don't own one either.

There are more people questioning why the Wii U is hated so much, than there are actual people hating the system.

Because its 3rd party support is pitiful

Why do people point to their wrists when asking for the time, but don't point to their crotch when they ask where the bathroom is?

Still, The Wii U has great exclusives, and it will probably remain an exclusives box for the most part, probably selling somewhere between 15 - 25 million.

That doesn't excuse the fact that it's missing almost every other third party game from western and eastern developers, Nintendo isn't the only company that makes amazing games.

@PieEater163 You think they will someday realize that the WiiU library of games its actually bigger than the PS4s at this moment ?

It has been out 12 months longer so that would be expected.

Even at the same point that the PS4 is at now the Wii U had more games. We had Lego City Undercover, Nintendo Land, Zombi U, Pikmin 3 and as much as I hate to say it New Super Mario Bros U. It wasn't much but it was a lot more than the PS4 has when it comes to good exclusives.

I doubt about that... we had so many (and even now) software draught on wiiU, one big was just after the launch... but ok, that's normal for a new console... the point is that from now on, ps4 will double (actually 3x, 4x, 5x) the number of titles of wiiU....

Check just september: WiiU-> Infinity 2, Hyrule Warriors... ps4-> Madden 15, Fifa 15, NHL 15, Metro Redux, DEstiny, Natural doctrine....for October is even worst... so please, ok we all love Nintendo WiiU, but here we are getting ridicolous...

I'd take Nintendo Land, New Super Mario Bros. U, ZombiU, Lego City Undercover, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate, Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge, Game and Wario, New Super Luigi U, and Pikmin 3 over Killzone Shadow Fall, Knack, Infamous Second Son, and The Last of Us Remastered. This is why I bought a Wii U in early 2013 (launched November 2012) while I didn't get a PS4 until July 2014 (launched November 2013). When I did buy a PS4, it was because I had a lot of money saved up and it wasn't going to be a problem for me. Otherwise, I would have waited, because a lot of the games on PS4 are also on PS3 and I wouldn't want to pay $400 just to play them with prettier graphics. Luckily, I did have money to spend and there are also a lot of great indies on the PS4 and Xbox One, which along with all the great games coming 2015 I saw at E3, convinced me to buy both of them in July.

How do you like Xbox One compared to the PS4?.....and visa versa.

So true... region lock and the fact you cannot retrieve your digital games if your console breaks without contacting Nintendo's customer support are deal breakers for me

If you transfer you Nintendo Network ID you can re-download them to a new console. That's what I thought anyway.

What is EA's excuse for releasing exactly the same game as released 2 years prior (with different kit colours), palming it off as new, selling at full retail price, when over platforms get something new?

EA released FIFA13 which was an enhanced port of FIFA12 with FIFA13's rosters. The bonus features are very good and FIFA12 was a better game than FIFA13 according to nearly every retrospective list of last gen's games. It scored poorly because it was a cheap port but to a Wii U owner, buying their first football game for their new console, it was perfect. It cost me £10 to get it with my Nintendoland bundle at Blockbuster on launch day. Quite why it has remained at £50 on the eshop is beyond me.

What is Ubisoft's excuse for delaying a Wii U exclusive?

There is almost no good reason for this. I am sure poor hardware sales were a serious worry but Ubi knew they had pretty much the only game in that window. They wanted that game to fail on Wii U, they barely sent out review copies of the Wii U version which is madness because some of the gamepad levels were the best bits.

Ootfan98 wrote:

Why is lack Console Sales a good enough excuse not to support Ninty, but ok to support Xbone?

I would guess that Microsoft offer to underwrite losses on 3rd party ports and Xbox1 has had much better software sales than Wii U did in its first 9 months. This might be because MS gave FIFA and CoD away in pre-order bundles but either way, MS and Sony bend over for all major 3rd parties whereas Nintendo seem to pick a select few and pay them to make a random selection of games.

Anyway people, stop worrying about the hate and spread the love instead. I've never known a console to be such a crowd pleaser at Xmas.

Perhaps the biggest reason is because the user base for the Xbox One purchase a lot of third party games, just like they did with the og Xbox and 360, which really hasn't been a Nintendo quality since the 64 bit days.

-Nintendo has an account system. Requiring customer services is just their way of stopping people reporting a console stolen so they can duplicate their library. If making one phonecall to restore £££££ of games if they get stolen is a big enough worry to not buy a product then you might as well not buy anything.
-Is it really so easy to restore purchases to a brand new PS3? I had to phone Sony when I did it because it refused to transfer my entire PSN history to my new slim model.
-Region lock is slightly annoying but there's never been a generation where region lock completely stopped people playing games from other regions.
-Wii U has excellent features and offers excellent value in areas the other consoles don't. £300 at launch seems overpriced but its current price £200 with an excellent game is pretty decent. Sony are charging almost full price for streaming games to PS4 instead of offering backwards compatibility. The gamepad exponentially extends playing time for most people. Free online doesn't seem to affect the most important aspect either which is the lag and even CoD is less laggy on Wii U than on PS360.

I see a lot of people who hate on the Wii U. Even the 3DS. It's just Nintendo in general really. Most people avoid talking about 3DS because it's successful, but I noticed when the new announcement came that everybody jumped on it and started attacking it. All people who don't play Nintendo games too. Saying it screws over 3DS owners. Yet all 3DS owners I've spoken to are excited about it. The ones upset are the ones who don't even play the system lol!

It's like, how in the world, as a rational gamer, could you get ANGRY that a better iteration is being released, one that does not affect current owners in the slightest? Games are still being made for all 3DS systems. No games are being "subtracted" from the future lineup. Only difference is, those who so desire to upgrade will see a few extra titles that otherwise would not have ran on current hardware. So current owners lose NOTHING.

Yet, people use it as an excuse to hate Nintendo, hate their hardware, and talk a bunch of childish nonsense. In their ignorance they twist the truth to make the best argument they can AGAINST the system. To make it a BAD thing that Nintendo is making improvements that do not adversely affect current owners, to make it a BAD thing that Nintendo is making games like Xenoblade possible on the go. I chalk it up to the fact that most of this immature vitriol is from children with free reign and anonymity, a dangerous combination, especially in this day and age.

Idk, there's a good number of rational gamers out there who honestly just enjoy playing fun games. But there are equally as many have a real hatred for Nintendo and the Wii U, and 3DS. It's basically just a bunch of adolescent, hive minded individuals being ignorant. I say individuals, because sometimes it's full grown men acting in such a childish manner.

The gamer who has reached true maturity doesn't have time for that type of nonsense. We've got jobs, families, lives, more important things to focus on than obsessively condemning the very thing we claim to love. I mean, gamers claim to love playing video games yet hey seem to blindly hate consoles designed to provide that very enjoyment they claim to love. They blindly hate the very thing they say they stand for.

And they always find reasons. They say Nintendo screws over their customers, that they are fascists with their hardware, that they hate them because of their evil business practices. Granted, Nintendo is far from perfect and yes, some business policies would be better gone, but seriously? You could find similar accusations against ANY platform manufacturer. One could hate Sony for buying exclusive DLC, for business practices like paying to keep games off other consoles, for charging online sub fees, online passes, $100 memory cards, abandoning Vita after just 2 years, etc. One could also hate MS for their DRM policies, for focusing on media over games, for forcing Windows 8 UI into Xbox One, for money hatting exclusives, and as we know the list could go on.

Point is, ALL platform manufacturers are just as guilty as the next. ALL have bad policies and ALL have done bad things. You can't just give a free pass to the platform of your choice, but hold the other platforms accountable as devils, these evil corporations looking to screw the consumer. We're gamers. We're supposed to do one thing- ENJOY VIDEO GAMES. But nowadays people don't care about fun games. They care about joining a tribe of a specific console, then warring against the other factions, hypocritically ignoring the wrongdoings and negative aspects of their own preferred console, while ONLY focusing on the wrongdoings and negative aspects of rival consoles.

If a person TRULY is a gamer. If a person TRULY cares about playing great video games, they're not going to nitpick reasons to hate entire console libraries. They're going to do the exact opposite of that. They're going to nitpick reasons TO like a console library. They're going to investigate and search out the best games, wherever they may be. Like an Indiana Jones of sorts. Always searching for that next big find, looking in the unlikeliest of places. That's not what we see with the majority of online fan site gamers though. They pick sides, make allegiance, and ignorance prevails. Doesn't matter how good another platform is, or what games it gets, they made their mind up to hate it a long time ago. Because they're not interested in discovering fun, new games, they're only interested in bolstering their ego, stroking themselves as they reaffirm their decision to make allegiance with their platform of choice.

They get angry when they see another console that provides a genuinely fun experience, because it threatens their ego and their security. That's why they jump on sales figures to dismiss a console. It's an easy way to use one negative aspect to correlate to another, despite the inherent logical fallacy. Such as "console has bad sales, therefore console is illegitimate" or "controller has a screen, therefore it's gimmicky, therefore console is illegitimate" or "not region free, therefore console is illegitimate". All are example of unrelated cause and effect. A console could sell poorly, have a second screen and have region lock, and still provide one of the funnest experiences out there. Those same logical pretzels could be used to conclude "no free online, therefore console is illegitimate" or "no integrated social gaming site, therefore console is illegitimate". But you won't see them use that flawed logic against their own platform.

In the end, it's just jealousy, insecurity, and hive minded bullying. Pick on the easy target to bolster your own ego. A real gamer is open-minded, and is willing to enjoy a good game wherever they might find one. If a rational minded gamer legitimately does not enjoy the types of games on Nintendo platforms (and I think very few wouldn't, if they bought a Wii U and some of the games available and actually gave it a try, I'm fairly confident most would enjoy it, it's just a question of to what extent), they would simply not pay the console any mind. Normal people don't focus their attention on something that doesn't interest them.

***********************************************************************************************************************************************************************************
EDIT: And as for the normal gamers that don't HATE Wii U but aren't particularly interested, as the old saying goes, "Ignorance is bliss". People get in a comfort zone and they don't like change. They've been playing PS or Xbox or PC for years, and those games ARE FUN, so they have this dismissive attitude toward anything else. They don't really look into it much because they have fun games to play and they're happy playing them. It's easier to tell themselves "eh, it doesn't have any games worth playing anyways". The same thing happens with a lot of a Nintendo fans. I tell people all the time how much I like PS4 and that it has a number of great games, but it's easier for people to tell themselves. "Eh, there's nothing good on PS4 yet" and just go about their business. Only the active gamer goes out of his way to dig a little deeper.

I also think people have been conditioned to think a gaming console MUST have western AAA games, as if those are the only viable games worth playing and that if there isn't AAA then the platform cannot provide equally fun gaming experiences. I think people focus too much on what Nintendo doesn't have, rather than focusing on what they do have. I think this is because those are the games most are familiar with, and they don't understand that Nintendo platform exclusives offer equally thrilling experiences. No, you won't get AAA on Wii U, but neither will you get Nintendo exclusives on PS4 or X1. It all boils down to reluctance to change. They know AAA, so that's what they insist on. Reluctance to branch out, to believe that there are other games in this world that can be just as fun. Not that more 3rd party games wouldn't make it better, but let's face it. If you like AAA games, unless Nintendo were getting every single One of them, you're still gonna buy another console for those anyways.

Because until this recent e3, it was the worst console of all-time or at the very least recent memory. There was no zelda, smaller franchises like starfox metroid and kirby, no must-have game everyone was talking about aside from MK8 which was just recently released as well, and virtually no third party support.

You make it sound like something has changed for the WII U during this E3? wait did Nintendo even attend E3 this year? ( I know they did but was completely overshadowed by Sony and MS) the content they had at E3 had already been announced some of the games there has been announced during the WII U;s launch.....

I said some of them had been..... and to be honest forgot all about splatoon as its not something I would play.

@kkslider5552000 Not something to brag about a console that has been out almost two years out selling a console been out 10 months by a few million... I'm a huge fan of the WII U and have purchased multiple consoles as presents but even I have just about given up on it and just waiting for Nintendo to announce a new console.

LOL, yeah, that one.

Certain people may prefer what MS and Sony showed at this year's E3 (everyone has different tastes) but c'mon...

-Most original presentation
-Best follow-up days: Treehouse events
-Best fighting game: Smash Bros.
-Best JRPGs: Xenoblade Chronicles X (& Project STEAM to a lesser extent) People may still drool FF and KH, but they're dead inside...I guess you could say...they're Heartless...hehehe
-Best 3D Beat-em-up: Bayonetta 2
-Best Action/Adventure game: Zelda Wii U
-Best puzzle game: Kirby and the Rainbow Curse

and last but NOT least

-Most ORIGINAL/CREATIVE game (remember when we all didn't just buy CoD and FF mindlessly?): Splatoon

Yep, Sony and MS smoked Nintendo at E3...
