Yeah, even the Wii U at 9 months old had more exclusive and fun games than it. The Xbone did have exclusives, but now their all on PC.

Don't be haters, the PS4 is the better investment unless you absolutely have to play NIntendo IP's. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the first party Nintendo titles, but I don't drink the Mario Kool-Aid, unless your a huge big N fan or you have kids,......or if you just buy three or four games a year, it's hard for me to recommend it over the competition.

It has been out 12 months longer so that would be expected.

I kind of feel the same about what you're saying about the Mario games.. but thing is, the Mario games are the highest quality Nintendo games. Every time they announce or release a new one, I'm like.. oh come on, not another Mario game.. then I play it and I'm like OK you got me. Especially with Mario Golf this year, it's just so good, not because it's Mario but because it's just so deep and has so much content. If you're ignoring games because they have Mario in them, you're probably missing out. This is coming from a guy who is tired of seeing Mario just as much as this next guy.

No, I think Nintendo first party titles, especially 3D Mario titles, are absolute gems, and the latest iteration of Mario Golf was awesome as well. But on a pure value basis, for the amount or content you getting on other platforms and that your missing on the Wii U, it's hard to recommend it as the first console option.........as I said though, if your a huge Nintendo fan, have kids, or only play a couple of games a year, the Wii U will be absolutely fine. With that out of the way, I think the majority of people would be happier with Sony and Microsofts offerings.

  • Gamepad, seen by many as more of a gimmick than a necessity
  • Lack of third party support
  • Hardware that is inferior to the PS4 and XB1
  • The Wii image, which was carried on by the Wii U's marketing (families / kids)
  • Percieved lack of mature / adult oriented games

The poor Wii U, despite some amazing games, it has been a bit of a perfect storm of bad PR. It's pretty much in vogue to release a game for everything but the Wii U.

I agree with everything except the hardware when you look at the fact the PS3 and Xbox 360 still have games being released for it and new games being announced and fact is WII U's hardware is better.

I do think the lack of third party games and the name/branding are what has brought the downfall of the console Casual and hardcore gamers dont want Mario,Zelda and smash those franchises appeal to Nintendo fans, and there are not many of us left.

I have purchased 4 WII U's since launch (presents) and the people I gave them too love it however they have this year purchased PS4's and Xbox ones as in their words those console have games on it and more coming and the WII U doesn't all it has is kids games and mario and zelda. Its sad but the COD's, Assassins creeds and Resident evils and alike are what people want.

Even at the same point that the PS4 is at now the Wii U had more games. We had Lego City Undercover, Nintendo Land, Zombi U, Pikmin 3 and as much as I hate to say it New Super Mario Bros U. It wasn't much but it was a lot more than the PS4 has when it comes to good exclusives.

Really you sure? I have owned a WII U since launch and a PS4 since its launch and the games Library on the PS4 is better than the WII U's was at this point in its first year.

I agree, the Wii U had a pretty dismal first half of 2013

The Wii U has terrible value and worst features compared to even the last generation of consoles. That's even factoring in paying for Xbox live and PS+.

So true... region lock and the fact you cannot retrieve your digital games if your console breaks without contacting Nintendo's customer support are deal breakers for me

I doubt about that... we had so many (and even now) software draught on wiiU, one big was just after the launch... but ok, that's normal for a new console... the point is that from now on, ps4 will double (actually 3x, 4x, 5x) the number of titles of wiiU....

Check just september: WiiU-> Infinity 2, Hyrule Warriors... ps4-> Madden 15, Fifa 15, NHL 15, Metro Redux, DEstiny, Natural doctrine....for October is even worst... so please, ok we all love Nintendo WiiU, but here we are getting ridicolous...

Nintendo is like that kid in school who lives in his own world and always tries to be original and independent, which makes him an easy target for bullies.

Top-10 games I played in 2017: The Legend of Zelda Breath of the Wild (WiiU) - Rogue Legacy (PS3) - Fallout 3 (PS3) - Red Dead Redemption (PS3) - Guns of Boom (MP) - Sky Force Reloaded (MP) - ...

Hmm currently Nintendo seem more like the arrogant child who thinks he is entitled to everything and everyone has to full in line with his views and way of doing things. So everyone is shunning him but he is so full of himself he cannot see it.

The Wii U gets so much hate for the same reasons a "Nerd" gets so much hate in High School and below, they don't follow the crowd on what is cool and instead do what they think is fun

People keep saying the Xbox One doesn't have Backwards Compatibility.
I don't think they know what Backwards Compatibility means...

what makes us (the audience) entitled to think that our views are right and Nintendo's are wrong?!
Just because we have 50 quid in our wallet to buy a game, it doesn't make our views or our requests automatically correct or financially possible.

I'm not saying Nintendo doesn't do mistakes - they do. But on the other side of the fence, I don't see the minimum effort from most of the audience to understand Nintendo and their games. Users expect companies to lick their ar*e. I think this is terrible and it's causing the industry to grow at snail-pace rather than getting mature.
I mean, look at the music industry - if it was as dumb as the videogame industry we would be still stuck in 1959.
