Topic: Why are you so certain Wii U will catch fire, and that it won't be a failure?

Since EA is pulled its plugs in making Nintendo games, could this be a pattern of third party companies losing their faith in the Wii U. The Wii U Gamepad is a gimmick at best, ask anyone that is not a gamer and it scares them away. It does not seem welcoming. I am one of the few that actually buy EA's sports games. If N doesn't pick up and heal and have EA make games for N, won't this just make all sports fans leave N and buy a PS4? (Thats my plan, and a Vita) Do you guys think N failed with the Wii U, and why?

They had a horrible launch and screwed up on the advertising.

Price drop, more first party games and more 3rd party team-ups and they'll be fine.

Because more Nintendo games will come out, making it sell at around Gamecube to SNES levels. I strongly doubt we'll see Smash Bros 4, 3D Mario, Mario Kart, Zelda and every other major title coming out soon fail.

And well, because Microsoft has already kind of shot themselves in the head with the Xbox One. I even hear rumours the console won't be released in Europe altogether because of potential legal issues (the privacy and used games things especially). PS4 might do better, but I still think the Wii U has the best chance out of the three of them at making it out in one piece at the end of the generation.

Only in the west. They have lots of exclusive deals with SEGA, Platinum, Atlus etc.

EA is not a make or break, type of company... Especially if you are trying to compare them to Nintendo. It doesn't matter what people think of the gamepad right now, it matters what they think of it once they actually play it. By your logic that the gamepad "scares people away from it." how are we to explain the fact that people are not frightened away by an iPad/Kindle Fire/Tablet? The Gamepad is underrated at best and very under advertised at the moment. Once Nintendo shows, via E3 and the release of major franchise games, that the Wii U and the gamepad are a very family friendly place to play games and watch movies and tv, it will sell. The core audience will then buy the console when they see the full lineup on offer at E3 this year and I don't think that we have seen a glimpse of all that Nintendo is about to unleash on the Wii U, at least as it pertains to games. I have faith that Nintendo will be around for a long time yet, they have been around for 124 years so far, so that may prove that they are a very adaptable company capable of weathering many storms.

True, but don't you think it will be too late? The Wii U will have its games that we are all waiting for like Wind Waker, Mario Kart and Smash, but they will come out when the PS4 and One will be out. It might be game over. I have played games on Wii U, I used to have a PS3 I can see EA's point. The graphics aren't even equal to current Gen, PS3 and 360 still have better graphics. When people see the next gen graphics they will laugh at the Wii U. The Wii U will be back in the boat of poor graphics like N was with the current Gen. What happens when people see the new COD, Madden, Need For Speed, NBA, NHL, MLB, not made on the Wii U. Will not all sport fans and shooting game fans drop Wii U? So won't the only people that have Wii U's would just be RPG fans? Accoring to EA the Wii U is crap and Nintendo is walking dead. I don't see how people will honestly pick this, its not as inviting as Wii. Its not like the gamecube where you can hook up a gameboy.

I showed all my family members the gamepad and they were like what the heck is that? They think is a gameboy. I showed my parents, my sister and my brother. My Mom used to play Wii. I asked her straight forward if the gamepad looked inviting she said no. I am a college kid, so my brother is mid 20's sister is mid 20's parents are 48. Aren't most people that have tablets younger like 30's and younger? If thats the case then, the most popular games right now are COD, Assassin's Creed, and similar games. Would you want to play that with the graphics worse then a PS3 or one that has better graphich than a PS3, one that has next gen graphics?

IF EA is the worst company why do they come out with the most popular games? I know EA is poorly rated by it's employees but I talking about the games and system.

I'm not certain it will catch fire and not be a failure. I also don't really care. It has enough good games to last me for now and will probably end with a lot of good games. One of my favorite consoles in my collection is my Atari 7800 and by all definitions it was a catastrophic failure at market.

I still think it has some great games and is fun to play though. If Nintendo burns, I'd like to be with the ship as it is sinking because I love their games.

Nintendo is in a much better postion than SEGA was when they released the Dreamcast, and with the first party software coming out, the Wii U will do fine. Not as well as the Wii, but I'm sure it'll be a success given the time.

I don't think that as soon as the Ps4/xbox will send the WiiU packing just like that. They've been through tougher water b4.
EA. yeah it's the to-go for Sports games but some (i said some) people could care-less if they didnt continue support.

Anybody else notice the graphics aren't even equal to PS3 or 360? To me it just seems like people are just relying on promises made from N. Hoping it will all work. I was hoping from better graphics. I bought NFS, Madden and NBA, they don't even have current Gen graphics. I don't want to go through that again with another N console. You guys/girls don't think others will think like that?

I personally think if Nintendo pluck up there ideas before the Xbox One/PS4 they will be fine for the next 6 years or so. I agree with a comment above about Microsoft shooting them self's in the foot. I really do I think in 2 years time PC/Wii U/PS4 will where all the gaming is at.

Off topic here. But I don't agree with the whole EA is the worst company going by consumers. That poll is America only if I recall. Here in Europe/UK EA is no where near the worst company there is a lot more. Even when it comes to video games I personally think Activision are the worst.

What has EA done that is so bad? Really think about it. Sure they did the whole always on with SimCity which was a completely bad idea. They release sports game every single year with not a whole lot of improvement. But they brought us some fantastic games like Mass Effect 3, Need For Speed ect.

What have Activision done? Well they release the same damn game every 12 months. They then charge a stupid amount of money for a map pack. (EA also do this but not as often). They nab up top licenses like James Bond, Walking Dead and then completely butcher the names with horrible games.

But for real, this has all happened before. Slow sales, Nintendo releases something and then the sales pic up. It's almost become a cycle.
