I have a TV JUST for gaming(and it's super nice 1080p, so there's not much reason for me not to look at it), but I end up looking at the GamePad screen mostly.
I don't have much access to the TV so the gamepad is ideal for me. I am struggling thought to find games which can be played without the TV and would love some recommendations, especially for non shoot 'em ups as I don't like those very much. I do have Super Mario for the U but that's it for the gamepad only games unfortunately.

I have an old TV, so the games look a lot better on the gamepad. My TV also doesn't have a "native mode" or whatever, so the image is cropped off on the tv. So, I use the gamepad whenever possible, and for the first time in 8 years I feel like I need to buy a new tv.

Same. So it's nice to use the screen sometimes.

About 50/50 for me. Blops2 I will always try and play on via the TV just so my old eyes can see what to shoot. Games like Mass Effect 3 and Scribblenauts I am fine to just use the Gamepad.
Sinse we only have one TV for gaming i have to share it with both of my brothers, so i mostly end up playing on the Gamepad. At night when going to bed i usually play on the Gamepad to, even i the TV is free.
Here is a new petition to get Metal Gear Solid Rising: Revengence on the Wii U!!!

I played all of AC3 on the gamepad. It took me 26 hours to beat the game, and it was all on the gamepad. I probably would use the TV but I have a 12 year old SDTV. No joke. It works with the Wii U if you have your old Wii av cables, but looks like crap. So I use the gamepad
I prefer using the TV since it looks much better than on the gamepad, but I use the gamepad when I can't use the TV

I sometimes use it for NSMBU and Sonic Racing Transformed, but mainly I just use the TV screen.
How do you use it for Sonic Racing? I tried last night but I could not find a option to switch the screen to the gamepad.
You swipe down on the screen. Pretty obscure, huh?
I love playing on the screen. NSMBU, Metroid Blast, and Sonic and All-Stars Racing Transformed just play beautifully on that screen. It's completely legit, and I use it more than the TV screen now.
Metroid, Xenoblade, EarthBound shill
I run a YouTube/Twitch channel for fun. Check me out if you want to!
Please let me know before you send me a FC request, thanks.
