Eh, even if a casual player isn't that good, they can still get a sense of achievement if they join in team matches.

As long as the other players on their team are good enough, they can still "win" enough not to be discouraged.

I was never a FPS player when I got my first COD, and although I didn't start out great, I still had fun because I could still "win" on occassion, in team deathmatch. Although I'm no star player, over time I've built up enough skill to make some admirable moves, even though I only play it sporadically.

Currently Playing:
Switch - Blade Strangers
PS4 - Kingdom Hearts III, Tetris Effect (VR)

LOL, why are you assuming we haven't played it?

I like how you've stopped using the word "mainstream", though. That's some improvement, I guess. Shall we discuss why water isn't wet now?

I never said I hadn't played it I just said I wasn't interested in it. Plus I was talking about it being mainstream which it provably is while at the same time disputing your use of the word "casual" as a derogatory term. I always thought of "casual gamers" as gamers who sit on the long tail end of investment of time/money into gaming. If COD is breaking sales records then clearly it has mass appeal, is mainstream and is therefore played by more casual gamers.

Pretty simple really. I wasn't using the word casual as a slur against your gaming ability as you were against people who enjoy Monster Hunter and Mario. I was simply saying that I know people who only have a 360 and who only play COD maybe one hour a week if that. These are casual gamers.

[edit]
and since when is Monster Hunter a game that's easy to get into? Or a game that has mass appeal outside of Japan?

Wither or not CoD is mainstream (which it is) or if its target audience is Hardcore or Casual players (Of which the game caters to both, seriously...there is a campaign mode as well, although it seems like you've all forgotten), the fact of the matter is and remains in the title of this Thread.

Where is the announcement for the annual CoD shooter on the Nintendo Platform?

Such an absence could be simply a misunderstanding or misuse of the words "next-gen", or something more sinister from Activision, who doesn't know or doesn't plan on bringing the game to the Wii U. Either way, I think all of you are over-reacting. As many of you have pointed out, Call of Duty makes millions of dollars each iteration, and that is not likely to change within the near future. Which means the developer practically has no downside to releasing the game on an additional platform, even if the platform is currently under performing. I mean really, what to they have to loose?
Secondly, the Wii U is a different monster when compared to both current and next gen consoles. So to bag them all together in a burlap sack to see which one still lives after a year is simply idiotic . People seem to be missing the point of Wii U
1.) it is a Nintendo console first and foremost. Which means if you have one, you will {eventually} be able to enjoy all the first party titles you know come from the brand that everyone recognizes. These are the Mario's,the Link's, the Fox and the Metroid's of both past and future.
2.) But perhaps more importantly, its a Nintendo platform that can now more easily adapt to modern 3rd party offerings. For the first time since Gamecube (or perhaps ever if you're a FPS guy who can't function without two sticks in your hands), we have in our possession a game machine that gives us both Nintendo games, and 3rd party blockbusters.

In Summary: is Call of Duty: Ghosts coming to Wii U...duh, why would they not? is it going to be successful...more than likely not. But I know for certain that I love the fact my Wii U can both play Mario and Call of Duty. As always there is room to grow, and perhaps a bit more respect to be shown from developers...but seriously, I'm excited for the future of Wii U !!!!1!!

Hardcore gamers aren't the COD majority of players. It's the mainstream gamers.

I know loads of people who owns a Ps3/360 and the only games they have for it is COD- and sport titles. COD is a simple, fun, casual title. The problem with the WiiU is that most owners right now are Nintendo fans (since they're always the early adopters), from what I've experienced - most Nintendo fans have no interest in titles that aren't from Nintendo. Which is why COD, or most 3rd party titles, won't sell.

Yeah and that's right and extactly how I feel and I'm sure many do as well honestly don't care if battlefield 4 comes out on wii u the next cod watch dogs splinter cell any of those games I just get good games made by Nintendo or there 1st party publishers of if they get a really good exclusive!

Monster Hunter is easy to get into since it's actually been in the U.S. For me at least.
I sure as hell wasn't gonna buy a PS2 or PSP just for Monster Hunter when I didn't like those consoles anyway. I was mainly a Nintendo gamer until last gen, and games Nintendo consoles don't get tend to build a reputation by the time they actually reach Nintendo consoles.
Wii U is a strong enough console to get most games, and can also reach games that even the next Xbox and PS won't because of the controller.

As for the hardcore argument, I would say you can really put it anyway you want. The game is only hardcore if the players make it hardcore. It's just more likely that a core gamer will play anything that they see as being a POTENTIALLY good title, vs. being skeptical for no reason about any game that they aren't familiar with.
My little cousin thought COD looked stupid when I showed her the game on Wii U, but one of her friends got her to play it on Xbox 360, and now she claims she likes the game.

Watch out, man. You're on a forum full of people who believe that a person who has never touched the hardware/software you are talking about somehow has just as valid and academic an opinion as someone who actually owns/plays the item in question consistently. All of the deleted threads on the Wii U's impending doom are full to the brim with people who don't even own one.

This is probably getting a bit off topic but I was more making a point that Monster Hunter isn't a "casual" game. Monster Hunter is a game that people (myself included) avoid because they don't really understand it. Of all of the games I'd expect to see my nieces or siblings pick up and play Monster Hunter would be pretty low on the list because it is intimidating. And it's certainly not mainstream, a game that has at best sold 1.05mill outside of Japan on a mature platform isn't mainstream.

The reverse is generally true of CoD. CoD is the Goldeneye of this console era.

Activision needs to put Ghosts on the Wii U if it wants to hurt EA. The only franchise that remains a threat to COD is Battlefield & both Activision & EA been exchanging jabs on each other with the latest by EA's Kevin O'Leary calling Black Ops 2 "tired" on Twitter.

It just tends to be EA taking jabs. Activision are too busy bathing in money to care about EA's slander.
