The 10th installment in the Dragon Quest series is a MMO based rpg that is quickly gaining popularity in it's Japan only selling audience. A while back, the creators of the game said that it would definitely come out outside of Japan someday. Keep in mind that this was last Summer. So now that we haven't heard anything in a while I want to know details. WHEN IS IT COMING OUT???

When Nintendo decides to localize it.

Square Enix didn't want to bring Bravely Default out yet it ranked 10# in NPD software sales in the US.

They would have to bring it over on PC too if they hope to make a profit imo. Which is why I just can't see it happening. Any resources thrown at DQX would probably be better spent on FFXIV unfortunately. Or mobile.

Four more months until Bayonetta 2.

considering the most successful 3rd party game is an HD upgrade of Monster Hunter 3...

People would but the Wii U just for this, similar to what happened with MH3U.

Considering how much Japanese Developers are very averse to waste right now.

I thought it was Zombi U?

Anyway it is true Monster Hunter Tri did well for a 3rd party port.

Although Dragon Quest X wasn't sold that well in Japan if I recall on Wii U but then again it wasn't too far behind Monster hunter 3 hd on the Wii U so technically it wouldn't hurt.

Wouldn't hurt, comes down to opportunity cost.

This is when it comes down to Nintendo wanting to localize it which actually they should if they want to reduce the drought perception.

In terms of sales yes, but it's hard to consider it successful when Ubisoft has said they have no plans to make a sequel because it wasn't profitable.

It's games like this that make me wonder why Nintendo hasn't localized them yet. It's pretty clear that there is an audience in North America and beyond.

Becomes Iwata wants you to understand.

Nintendo is Nintendo, of all the major companies I have seen they are pretty hard to predict which is very odd because they are quite conservative in nature.

But yes it wouldn't hurt but its up to them.

3ds had steady stream of games partly because most of Japanese third party developers went on board with the handheld.

Oh you must be talking about Capcom's "smash hit" statement.

I suppose. I hear there are still several people playing on the Wii U version online.

I've seen a shocking number of people that basically consider Wii U a Monster Hunter machine.

moomoo

The problem is that this game is a subscription-based MMO. Unlike FFXIV, Dragon Quest isn't that popular in the west. If it wasn't online, then it may make a tiny profit, but it wouldn't do well at all over here unless if it was multiplatform.

Now that you mention it, for all the wii u online games I hear still being played, which aren't that many, Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate does pop up quite often. I wish Nintendo told us which online server games are the most popular.

Although when Mario Kart 8 comes along that will probably change.
