I took really good care of it, too. The jostick started being all weird, and I was trying to decide whether it was worth sending it in. Then it started being worse, and I sent it in. I never dropped it or anything. It just started glitching out. Nintendo Repair service taking forever is just opening the wound. It relly sucks... I haven't played much of anything on my Wii U for like 2 weeks. I was able to play without the GamePad for a while, but then the system said a GamePad update was required. Seeing as I don't have the GamePad, it's just sitting there, literally collecting dust, and I have no choice in the matter.

I've been gaming for many years, starting with pong in the late 70's, followed by intellivision and pitfall larry, as well as playing Zork on what must have been some of the earliest computers... bought NES and was in love... last ninty console I owned was N64, for some reason went onto genesis, playstation, dreamcast, followed by PS2, then xbox, then 360... didn't even know about WiiU until around thanksgiving last year, when I saw ads about SM3DW, it reminded me of Mario64 and I decided I had to get it, even after researching it online and discovering all the "doom and gloom" surrounding it.. really glad I did, been enjoying it immensely... been buying games off ebay new for cheap, several I haven't even played yet, have more games than I can even get to, between the amazing games like DKC:TF , SM3DW , MK8, ( I could go on ) and some great eshop games there's simply a boatload of options to play... I would suggest anyone vaguely interested should go ahead and get one... oh and lastly anyone who enjoys a good golf game Wii sports club golf is by far the best golf game I have ever played, easy to understand yet takes alot of practice to execute properly, and very satisfying when you do..

May I ask...how old are you? Man, Pong was like the very first video game to ever existed.

@rockodoodle You do know that the Ninja game requires you to swipe the touch screen instead of throwing the gamepad like a shuriken right?

@Gamecubed I really want to see your face when your Mom was handing you the NSMBU...LOL

Got my Wii U on launch day. No lines or anything. Walked in and walked out after buying it.

It has a 16GB stick on it that has worked flawlessly so far.

One day I'd like to play N64 titles on the Gamepad.

I'm surprised by all the Wii dislike in this thread. I had a Wii/PS3 last gen and I wish I would've spent more time with it than my PS3. So many good Wii games I missed out on.

I bought one a month before the Wind Waker bundle was announced and barely touched it until after said bundle came out. That's my story.

I only have 5-6 gigs left and 16 would go a long way for me b/c I pretty much just use it for eShop games. You haven't had problems? Nintendo recommends a drive with a power source.

When i think about the word "Dudebro"... something resembling the protagonist of that new infamous game immediately comes to mind. What does it even mean?

It's an ambiguous term, but for the most part it means dark, gritty twitch-action/shooting games aimed at teen and college-age males. I also only use the term when said games don't have or don't focus on things like story or character development, and have a high emphasis on blockbuster style setpieces.

Basically Gears of War/God of War. I'd actually argue inFamous has way too much story to be dudebro, but not everyone agrees.

Up to date I've had no issues, and I got a flash drive for the same thing too. I don't want to spend about $70 for a 500GB external drive, and not even use half of it.

I have about five to six games on it along with the saves. I plan on replacing it in about two or three more years if anything, just to be on the safe side.

With that said, you just have to determine how much you'll be using the drive, and if you don't mind spending the moolah if you plan on replacing it.

I was part of the "I like Wii crowd". I got a PS3 in 2009, but Wii had more than enough games that I was fine playing. I found this out once I actually got PS3. I wanted a handful of the HD games, but I would have been fine without alot of them looking back. I was usually fine with playing a friend's Xbox 360, every now and then.

They were all enjoyable to me.

My story goes something like this: I loved the Wii, was severely underwhelmed by the Wii U when it first came out, but over time the Wii U has grown on me, and I ordered one online and it should be here next week

A Flash drive works okay if you bought quality ones. The 5 dollar thumbdrives have very limited write/rewrites on them and they wear out pretty quickly. Those cheapos are not designed to withstand the console's intensive writes/rewrites. An external hard drive is more suited for that task. I have a old usb powered external hard drive hooked up to my Wii U with a Y cable and it has been working flawlessly. The reason why Nintendo recommends self powered HDDs is because HDDs nowadays do not come with a Y cable. So the USB does not receive enough power from a single Wii U's usb port.

I just wished Nintendo did not cheap out of their USB ports.

My history with Nintendo started back in 1982 with an orange Donkey Kong Game&Watch. As far as the Wii U goes, I was very excited for this console. The Wii was a console with many great games but I am not a fan of motion controls. Through the course of Wii's lifespan, I always had this bitter sweet taste because of the controls. I will take a traditional gamepad over motion controls any day. It was great news for me that Nintendo was adopting a more traditional control scheme with the gamepad/controller pro.

Here in South Africa the going rate for a Wii U bundle is about $400. In July 2013, due to poor sales of the Wii U, retailers ran specials, selling the Wii U for about a $100. On one of the sale days my wife and I went to 2 different retailers at like 6am (open at 9am) to ensure we get one. My branch had no stock and 2 youngsters jumped my wife's line and bought the last 2 units. She felt like a dog (for letting me down) and nothing I could say would make her feel better. What a great women I've been blessed with that would do that for me (and she's not a gamer at all). September 2013, after our disappointment, I wondered into a local toy store and saw a unit for $200 and naturally I jumped on it and never looked back.

So far I have only bought one game at full retail price. All the other games and peripherals I bought for more or less half price. All new of course.

I've been having a blast with my Wii U. The game selection has been great for me and as it is I don't have enough time to get through all my games.

That's my story in a nutshell.

Got two Wii-U's on launch with the intention of selling the second one for a small proft (was just asking $50 more) but found that the demand was not there so I sold it for just $20 over retail. Sold Nintendo Land because it sucked.

Loved the system at first but now I have gotten a bit tired of it, and I fear, games in general. I sold my 360 a year ago and really miss the online competition on there (MK8 with no voice chat is awful) and am debating whether or not I should pick up a PS4 in 2015. I may just be burnt out on colorful/cartoony Nintendo titles, so a change of pace may be what I need, but dropping $500+ on a new console and games only to discover I am bored of video games period is not something I want to do either!

I bet you played alone. Playing that game alone is actually torturing. There is no online multiplayer of the sort and you will be constantly reminded that you're alone. If you have people over though, this game so much fun. I have had the game for a year now and everytime my friends come over, we have a blast!

I bought it, and then it collected dust, and then I played EarthBound, then it collected dust again. Now I play Marty-o Kart on it. And the lack of an NHL game saddened me.

I was overjoyed to see that it was Wii Balance Board compatible, though.

I'm still glad I've yet to get within 10 feet of Nintendo Land, let alone actually play it.

So yeah, to amend my previous comment: I bought an 8GB Wii U full price because I wanted a Wii U without Nintendo Land. Then one month later, Nintendo announced the Zelda Bundle, which was a 32GB with NO NINTENDO LAND.

I almost drowned in the tears.

I played with my girlfriend (who sucks at games) and we enjoyed playing the Pikmin thing, but anything competitive was a bore since she posed no challenge haha. I played some of the other mini games with other friends, and they were good for maybe 10-15 minutes, but that's it. A game like Mario Chase (or whatever it was called) was fun, but too shallow an experience to sit and play for an hour or more like we could do with other games,
