Seriously though, all I'd ask for out of my Wii U is better online infrastructure and more games (1st party, 3rd party, and VC). All of that is possible with the Wii U I already own, so there's hope that I'll have my perfect Wii U by the end of the gen.
So Anakin kneels before Monster Mash and pledges his loyalty to the graveyard smash.
Anyways, I love my Wii U already as it is but I think you had some good ones that would make it better. Honestly I think the specs are really good as it is and since even the PS4 and Xbox One aren't even giant leaps themselves, though they are great systems, I don't feel like there's a huge divide as people say but if a lot people want better hardware specs then Nintendo maybe should provide that next gen when they have a new console just so sales take a bigger leap. I hope the Wii U is at least a learning experience for Nintendo in some aspects. Still love it as it is though.
I agree with skywake to a degree, but the software side of things could use improvement. A better messaging system (the current one is terrible), support for media files (videos, pictures, music), and maybe even simple apps like a calculator that you could pull up on the home screen, or a notepad, etc. It's the small things that could be incredibly useful.
But if I could only choose one thing to add, it would be more focus on online gameplay. That's more of a problem with the games rather than the console I suppose, but I'd love that!

Yeah, firmware updates could be pushed but I'm not sure if I'm that into any of your suggestions. Better online sure but I think that's kinda inevitable anyways. Rest of the apps I'm not that keen on, calculators and things in particular.
Overall though just more content. That's all that I really care about and all that's required to make it "perfect". Rest of it is fine as it is.

the only thing i want is for them to not forget about wiimotes! i absolutely love the accuracy and presision we get with motion plus.
i want more games with pointer or motion controls.
I want a Wii U with all the old forgotten about franchises that haven't had any entries in years. Mother, Star Fox, F-Zero, Mother, keep up with more entries in Kid Icarus too, Mother, make a TRUE Metroid game, and MOTHER! Did I mention Mother?
I also agrree with @Big_L91. I don't want them to completely drop the gamepad, but, honestly, I think that pointer controls still have much more unused potential(even after 8 yrs of them being available) than the gamepad will ever have. And wasn't everybody supposed to be using pointer controls by now? It was supposed to revolutionize the industry to where everybody, on every console would be using Wii-like motion and pointer controls.

Waiting for: BOTW 2, Metroid Prime 4, Xenoblade Chronicles 3
No seriously, what does Mario Kart 8 have that S&ASRT doesn't already have outside of Nintendo themes instead of SEGA ones?
What does Smash Bros have outside of Nintendo characters that Sony's All Stars Battle Royale didn't? Mario Kart is 70-80% nostalgia for old tracks, characters and items. So that's exactly what Mario Kart has that Sonic All Stars doesn't.
Plus when both are out we both know which one is going to be on the top of the pile.
