@SCAR392 But a problem with the router wouldn't freeze my console, would it? and I'm not sure, I'll check.
The router is usually always the problem, actually.
Nintendo systems have the hardest time connecting to to the internet if you mess with your internet settings often(which is exactly why I suggest not to mess with them at all).
As long as your router is up to date with it's firmware and it doesn't have any specific routing settings, there shouldn't ever be a problem.
One time, my 3DS stopped being able to go online completely. I updated the router and it worked again. Simple fix, no complaints.
there has been a new youtube update doesnt do much but it could the problem
We're talking about using YouTube on the internet browser. The YouTube app is completely different. Most prefer to just use it from the internet browser, including me, because it doesn't always work as well.

But the catch is: Only user accounts without a Nintendo Network ID have this problem on my Wii U console. When I use my own account with a Nintendo Network ID , I didn't get any freezing.
So, to those of you with the freezing issues: Did you get those freezes when you used an user account with a Nintendo Network ID?
@Kodeen
If your system isn't connected to the internet properly, you are going to have more issues, though.
If everything is setup correctly, the Wii U shouldn't freeze at all. That's the main point I'm trying to make.

yep half of youtube videos on the wii u internetbrowser freeze. this new issue started a few days ago and is now a frequent problem. my friends bash the wii u because of this. they say it's a terrible console if it can't play youtube videos. i should switch to wii mode or buy a ps4.
but i think the reason is youtube changed something in their code and wii u is allergic to that, dying instantly. either youtube changes again to something wii u browser can cope with, changes back, or nintendo updates the browser.
i hope the next big firmware update gets rid of all theses freezing issues (miverse and eshop booting problems as well).
the wiiU operating system is so fragile at the moment. all this freezing is a big step down for nintendo's usual hard/software stability quality control. believe me kids when i say nintendos consoles were known for their resilience from NES up to Gamecube. Then with the beginning of Wii system errors, transfer errors, crashes and all that crap only known from pc gaming started invading all the Nintendo systems.
I hope they get it sorted.
The other day my Wii U froze, so I hard powered down, boot it up, deleted the cookies, went to the vid, and it froze again. But that's not the weird part. I turned it on again, went to Internet Browser, and all my cookies were still there...
I fixed the issue but i had to format the wii u which didn't bother me, had no digital games and no game saves worth keeping.
If it's not to much trouble, can you post if it starts back up within a few days? If I have to format my entire system I at least want to be sure the problem won't come back.

That's the point I'm at now. I guess I have no choice. I'll wait to see what this "maintenance" does first though.
This has become a really annoying problem as I cant use off-screen when using the Youtube app and a console freezing has nothing to do with the internet.
It's not just Youtube, Netflix, and Hulu Plus, including the apps have been freezing my Wii U at an alarming rate over the past week. What is going on?
