remakes are what companies use strategically to have a quick cash-in(third parties) or to fill gaps and avoid software droughts since they're cheap and quick to make(companies that have their own console in the market, I'll call the current ones Nincrony or Mitenny or Sotendoft, I like the sound of Nicrony but people will compain that nintendo comes first in that name)
I wouldn't say so about Nintendo they only made remakes of games that are years old. Like Wind Waker. That the game is what 10 years old by now. They only made a few remakes these past couple of years.
yes but most of their remakes this gen came when there was happening a software drought
Good point but still the game is 10 years old and that's a game worth buying again.

That's why I don't buy new systems because of this point right here. I buy the system 4 to 6 years of it coming out .. Like I did with 360 I bought it 2 years ago or not that long ago..& the system is 7 years old..
Good for you. I don't get the complaint then, seems like a non-issue for you if that's the case.
I welcome remakes & remaster in the beginning of a consoles life-cycle, and I wish Nintendo would have released more remakes for the WiiU after its launch.
New games cost a ridiculous amount of time and money to make, and take a lot of time too.
I don't care either way, but what I don't like is remake begging, like with Majora's Mask 3D.
So release the same games (literally) over and over again within a couple of years? Didn't this NOT work for Capcom?
I said I'm pretty neutral though. I can see them in moderation, but the levels some companies (Capcom included) have taken them to is ridiculous.
But see with Capcom they release games like RE 1 that is 10 years old. See that's a game remaking cause not a lot of young Gamers had the chance to play those old games. Like we did. So Kudos to Capcom for doing it, I'm still mad that Capcom missed out on Wii U though ...
I assume this is mostly about the remasters of last-gen games on PS4.
And it's because Sony's solution to removing backwards compatibility was remasters of year-old games for full retail price. Making new games takes time and money, so this is meant to fill the gap.
But hey, it's popular. On this site, there's no shortage of people thinking we need Super Mario Galaxy HD, despite the Wii copy you already have playing perfectly fine on your Wii U.

Ok I didn't make myself clear here, What I was trying too say is games that were released 5 to 10 years ago or maybe even more deserve to get remakes. I'm still waiting on Sony to make a remake of Legend Of Dragoon. But it seems Sony is too busy making remakes of games that only came out less then a year ago & I also meant was they should keep doing games that are really old. A lot of Newcomers of the generation hasn't even tried out RE 1 or MGS 1 or 2. So hell they should keep doing remakes of Games that came out 10 years ago or more. But not games that only came out less then a year ago. Like The Last Of Us Or Tomb Radier.

No your wrong its about games that are being released now not only on PS4 & I think yes they should redo a Mario Galaxy that's a game that came out 6 years ago..

Why does coming out 6 years ago make it any different? You're still just putting Wii (last gen) games on the Wii U (new gen).

You make a point here, a real good point but it still doesn't add up on why the hell do these companies think its Ok to release a game that only came out last year, see a game worth remaking is Oblivion. Not a lot of people this time around have a chance to play it . You go ask someone "Hey have you ever played Oblivion before?" Direct answer. "What the hell is Oblivion?" See my point here is they should make games that are really old hell Nintendo should do a remake of Metroid 2 or Kid Icarus 1. Or better yet Minish Cap not a lot of people know that game.

But that's the whole point of new systems, experiencing new things.
Remakes and remasters can be new experiences for certain players. For instance, I never owned an N64, so the Ocarina of Time and Star Fox 64 remakes for the 3DS were new experiences for me. A lot of PS4 owners didn't own a PS3, so the Last Of Us PS4 remaster is a new experience for them.
I do understand your point, though. The Xbox One and PS4 seem to be getting more remasters (such as the Halo collection, GTA5 and the aforementioned The Last Of Us) instead of sequels and new IPs.
Again let me explain myself I never owned a N64 or Xbox or PS2 Or Xbox 360 So I haven't gotten a chance to play those old games like Half-life 2 & those games like Halo Remastered edition are worth buying because those games are really old. So yes make games that are 5 or 10 years old but not games that are less then a year old.

That's just it though, not everybody who buys a PS4 has a PS3 too.

RE1 is 18 years old. I still hope for some HD Collection or whatever of Onimusha.
With some games upgrade is good, like with The Last of Us - no framerate dips, all DLCs, it's like GOTY, only upgraded.
As for Oblivion I don't know if you will find someone saying "what the hell is Oblivion" unless he doesn't care about video games at all... or lived under the rock. The most would say "Oh, that one with almighty horse armor? Yeah, know it". I agree with @8BitSamurai, Morrowind should be remade - I won't talk about graphics much (to me they were atrocious even when it came out - such empty, dull looking world), but I would love dual wield and some other things that they implemented in Skyrim.
Remakes are good when they are justified or give something new or enhanced. GTA5 is not mindblowing to me, though.

Oblivion may* warrant a remaster because it is unavailable to people who don't own a PS360. Super Mario Galaxy doesn't have this problem. If you have a Wii U, you can play it.
And remaking a 8/16-bit game in HD is pretty worthless. It's essentially making a new game entirely, with all the time, money, and resources that goes with that. Square Enix won't even remake Final Fantasy VII, one of their best selling games ever, because of this.
Giving them a facelift like Metroid: Zero Mission on GBA is cool, but what the heck are you even going to do with all that display resolution in HD? If Metroid 1-4 were all remade as WiiWare or whatever in the style of Fusion/Zero Mission, I would totally buy that! Would be great to have on my U. Retail price HD remakes? Lolno.
*I say may because if you want to play Oblivion, you should just be buying it on Steam anyway. It's 20 bucks and you can mod it to your heart's content.
