Topic: What's up with Bandanna Dee?

Apologies if this kind of thread goes on another board, as I don't know where else to put it.

I was wondering where the idea of the Kirby series character Bandanna Waddle Dee comes from. He/she seems to be a recurring character lately, and maybe I missed the deal of why he/she is important enough to be a main character.

He's just the Toad of the Dees.

A recognizable individual in a species filled with look-alikes.

He originated in Super Star (Ultra?)as a personal servant/friend of DeDeDe.

He's arguably also every Waddle Dee in the games that is its own character, like that one in 64. Like Toad.
