The Wii U has been out for around 6 months now and it has had numerous updates including the enormaus 5GB one you would have downloaded if you got it at launch or around Christmas time. These have added lot's of new software and among other things improved the speed overall.
But if you were Satoru Iwata, what would you do to improve the system?
This can be anything from changes to the menu to new software from Nintendo.
1. Improve the menu screen-Becuse at the moment it's a bit bland and boring. I was thinking maybe a bit more interactive, like the Xbox 360's.
2.Better account system-Doesn't work very well at the moment. I want to be able to login to the same account on my 3ds as I can on my Wii U. Obviously, first they have to add acconts to the 3ds.
3.Add some Nintendo stuff to the E-shop. If Nintendo really want to push the E-shop, they need to add some of their own titles. Maybe like those on 3ds. For example:Pullblox/Pushmo and Dillon's Rolling Western.
Barebones basic features other consoles have to start. A unified account system , cross chat game play , game play invites, cross purchases I.E buying Megaman 1 on the 3ds i have to buy it again if i wanted to play it on the Wii U. Adding game play footage onto Miiverse would be nice like the competition is doing, and finally having the option to have Wii U virtual console games to be played in full-screen not in 4:3
Yeah yeah don't give me that BS that "oh that's how it was ment to be played !" No .. they could have put a little more effort into the dumped rom
-Be able to use the Wii U Pro controller for more things such as the eShop.
-Keep doing what they are doing so far with the Wii U Virtual Console, which is offering sales to tempt gamers.
Make a Wii U game pad controller with much better range (30ft from the Wii U with obstruction) and a much better battery life (7-8 hours)...The Wii U is so dependent on the game pad that these upgrades are nearly required, especially the longer battery life.
I would also fix the display on SDTVs. Everytime I play the Wii U, the screen gets cut off on my TV screen making it impossible to see secrets and being required to use the game pad to get the clear view of the game.

You can change screen size in the system settings. It was added in the Spring update.
Video chat should be an app like internet browser and Miiverse, in the sense that they can be opened from the home menu without closing your current software. Also, you should be able to assign different home button LED flashing settings to different notifications (recieving messages/comments on miiverse, friends signing on, and whatnot).
Two main things for me:
1- Off screen play for Wii games
2- Cross between wii u and 3ds eshop. Example if I have 10 bucks on wii u eshop i should have 10 bucks on the 3ds eshop
Switch FC: 6433-7682-7412
3DS FC: 2852-9290-8506
Wii U Name: MiiandMario
Not having game invites is inexusable in this day and age. That needs to be fixed.
I'd appreciate cross-buy.
Also, the account system Nintendo has doesn't seem like a very useful one. The whole point of accounts is that they're not tied to a specific system.
Cross-game chat should be there too.
Best thread ever
Feel free to add me on Miiverse or PSN.
Miiverse is Moomoo14, PSN is Moomoo1405390
3DS Friend Code: 4940-5561-6002 | Nintendo Network ID: Moomoo14
Wii U equivalents to the Wii's channels (Photo, Everyone Votes, Check Mii Out, Kirby TV, etc.)
I second that. I would like for there to be more customization options for things like the Wara Wara Plaza. Cross buy might come in handy for Smash brothers later down the line. They might want to throw in some more free software (Flip-Note Studio, things like that).

Yeah that would be awesome and make for a much better experience. The Wii U needs some more freeware besides Rayman Legends Challenge app and Wii street U.
I want easier multiplayer, quick game invites if I'm sitting on home and my friend invites me to Mario kart multiplayer, also better gamechat I love playing multiplayer and chatting to my friends!
2 Player mode is kinda awkward in the way the GamePad and a Wiimote share "player 1" until a second Wiimote is connected. I wish they could make an easier switch option.
Since the last update the Miiverse isn't booting up all the time, often needs a restart. It's odd, everything was good before. Is it a common problem?
Since the last update, between selecting YouTube videos it now automatically pauses the video that's running. Before the update you could load the next video, with the old still running in the background. Auto-pause is unnecessary, give us manual pause back.
Faster loading / booting!
eShop: Make VC upgrades cheaper!
Sales for New Super Mario Bros. U, Batman Arkham Asylum, Sega & Sonic All-Star Racing - these are cheaper on retail!
Why is not every game on the eShop? Why not adding Mass Effect 3 Special Edition or Call of Duty Black Ops II to the eShop?
50/60Hz-option for all VC games
Bring out some new VC titles! Japanese ones, like Kirby's Super Star Stacker and the SNES Fire Emblem's translated.
Bring on GBA, GBC, and GB games (don't forget Super Game Boy features this time).
Make Wii transfer easier.
Better backwards compatibility
Fix the LostWinds issue already! or give a refund so people can redownload it.
